FINALLY!

Another life update post?!

Yes, unfortunately for now this is just another life update post.

Hi everyone, long time no see!!

I know that it’s been a while….*3 months to be exact 🙃*…..but I swear I’m back this time!! I know you guys don’t believe me at this point, and that’s fine, but I’m willing to wait and gain your guys’ trust back little by little as I continue to post more.

But for some background context, I did want to just quickly update you guys on a few things that’s been going on in the past 3 months.

  1. Diego and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary!! (July 5, 2014 ❤️)

IMG_1335

We kept it chill and low-key for the most part, doing a few of the things that we always loved to do together (i.e., eat a lot, watch movies, etc. lol). But one of the best parts was being able to do this little wine tour in Long Island, New York, where we were able to visit 3 different wineries and try a TON of different wines.  Super fun and really not THAT expensive; we got tickets for this on Groupon!

2. I FINALLY STARTED MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL!!! (July 12, 2019)

IMG_2270

This is probably one of the most exciting things I wanted to update you guys on, because even here on my blog I’ve spoken quite a few times about wanting to do this, and I FINALLY did. It was so nerve-wrecking, and I’m still getting the hang of it, but it’s been so much fun and I have a TON of videos coming soon!! 😀 If you haven’t already done so, please make sure to check it out, and don’t forget to subscribe to stay up to date with all of my videos!! 😄 Check it out here!

3. I celebrated my 24th birthday!! 🎈🎉 (August 17th)

IMG_1022

The day before my birthday, Friday, me, Diego and about 3 of our other good friends actually ended up waking up at the crack of dawn to go have a little birthday photoshoot for me in the city. I actually can’t believe that we all pulled it off, woke up that early and made it happen honestly, but we did and the pictures came out AMAZING (I think). *If you haven’t seen them already, be sure to head over to my Instagram to check them out!!*

For the day OF, we kept my birthday pretty low-key for the most part. I’m not the type to like to do anything over the top and extravagant, I’m actually pretty simple and appreciate the little things, which Diego knows, and that’s why he ended up surprising me with a group of my closest friends at my house. We just ended up eating pizza, snacks, drinking a little and jamming to some music in my backyard for the night and I had the BEST time doing it. It really was a great time!

4. AND FINALLY, We went on vacation again!!!!! (August 31st-September 7th)

01CE706C-17A5-4063-AF30-A2399621D46A

Thats right, ANOTHER vacation!! Except this time it was within the United States and we went with my brother Chris and our good friend Geno. It was actually a late sort of birthday trip/celebration for me. This time around we actually went to California (specifically to San Francisco and Los Angeles). *Stay tuned for my travel diary videos about them coming soon to my channel! 😉 * We were in California for only a week and man did I instantly fall in love with it!! I can’t WAIT to go back! For the meantime though, go check out my Instagram to see my saved California story highlights as well as pictures from throughout the trip (social medias are always linked below 🙂 ).

* * * * * *

Well there you have it guys; that’s my “major” life update that I have for you all at the moment. I really do apologize for being so M.I.A. on here, I just kind of fell off and lost my mojo for it, which I’m sure many people, writers, etc., can understand happens from time to time. But, here I am, starting fresh again and hopefully coming back stronger then before!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and I’ll see you all in the next one.

On The Menu Today: Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse

Hey guys!

Today’s post is FINALLY going to be another restaurant review/recommendation type post 🙂

It’s been almost 4 months since I’ve done one of these because we just haven’t really been going out to eat much these days, and if we have, they’re either regular fast food places or places that I just didn’t think were interesting enough to do an entire post on.

About 2 weeks ago though, we FINALLY went to a new place, and I thought it would be the perfect time to take pictures/notes (mental notes, not actual pen & paper notes LOL) and do a post on it.

The name of the place we’re going to be talking about today, if you read from the title, is Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, which is located in 6th avenue in Manhattan (right near Radio City Music Hall if you’re familiar with the area at all).

The Ambiance

This place is definitely on the more pricey/fancy side, which we don’t normally tend to do too much just because unless it’s like a SPECIAL occasion (the way it was when we came here), we don’t feel the need/want to have to come and spend a ton of money on places like this.

It is, however, always great to be able to get all dressed up and come to a really nice place like this every so often, which is exactly what we got to do when we came here 2 weeks ago.

Right off the bat I would say this is the perfect place to go to for an anniversary date, a birthday, or even just a regular date that you may like and/or want to splurge on.

Diego and I came here for our good friend Shakerra’s birthday dinner. She was actually the person who chose the place too, I had no prior knowledge of this place whatsoever. After we established that we were coming here though, I did my research and actually saw that they have quite a few different locations around the U.S., but this is the only one  they have in New York.

There was 5 of us, so we had called in beforehand to make a reservation for our party. I don’t think reservations are mandated, but they are recommended.

Our reservation was for 7:30pm and easily we spent 2-2 and a half hours here; between waiting to be greeted, taking our orders, waiting for our food, eating, getting dessert, etc. etc… Although 2 and a half hours IS pretty long obviously, it really wasn’t that bad being that we were all enjoying each others’ company, as well as conversation.

The Food/Drinks!

For drinks , aside from our water, we all chipped in to buy a bottle of Rosé wine, which Diego, Jessica and I actually really liked.

Shakerra (the birthday girl) and Genaro didn’t care for it too much so she ended up getting a sweet sort of wine that I didn’t get a chance to get the name of, BUT she enjoyed that one a lot more, and Genaro got a simple cranberry and vodka.

For our food, all of the steaks in the picture(s) below are going to look the same/similar, but I swear some of them ARE different!! haha

Going down the line of what we all got….:

Me: 8 oz Filet Mignon.
Diego: 16 oz Prime Ribeye.
Jessica: 16 oz Prime Ribeye.
Shakerra: 16 oz Prime Ribeye.
Genaro: 16 oz Prime Strip.

We all also got and shared 3 different sides. As you can see in the picture, the sides aren’t THAT big, but they were big enough that we all got to pick on and enjoy them altogether.

The sides we ended up getting were: Chateau Mashed Potatoes, Potatoes Au Gratin which had Scallions, Bacon & Aged Sharp Cheddar, and Lobster Macaroni & Cheese (which I personally have never had before, but actually really liked).

As for dessert, Shakerra’s boyfriend actually surprised her with a cake at dinner that they brought out when it was time for us to have dessert so that we could all sing happy birthday to her.

It was super cute, and actually tasted REALLY good (I believe it was from 1800flower.com if you guys wanted to check that out).

To complete the review we also ended up getting desserts directly from the restaurant (which are shown below).

On the left is a Butter Cake which has Butter Pecan Ice Cream, Fresh Whipped Cream & Caramel sauce, and on the right is Chocolate Mousse which has Salted Caramel Chocolate Fudge & Miniature Chocolate Cookies.

Y’all know I’m a HUGE dessert person, so this was heaven to me. All of them tasted amazing and were very much worth EVERY calorie.

General Thoughts

Overall I can 100% say that we all enjoyed ourselves as well as the food here. Everything from the location, the ambiance of the restaurant, our server, and the actual FOOD obviously, was great.

The only minor thing we all didn’t care for was the fact that we had to wait for what felt like 45 minutes more or less for our food to come out, which obviously it’s a pretty big restaurant so we knew we would have to wait a bit, but we didn’t think it would be THAT long either. However, to the same extent, as I mentioned early on in the post, we were very much entertained talking, laughing, etc. so it did help a bit with the wait.

Other then that, everything was really good and we all do 100% recommend it to you guys to try at some point or another. Do keep in mind though as we said, that it is more on the pricey side, but definitely worth the price (we all thought).

As usual though, please try it for yourselves and come to your own conclusion(s) about this place.

* * * * * *

I hope you guys enjoyed this restaurant review/recommendation post. Let me know in the comments or on social media if there are any places in particular around New York that you guys think we should try, and we’ll definitely be sure to do that!

Also, let me know if you guys happen to end up trying this place at all, what YOU thought about it, or if you’ve already been there before, did you guys think it was worth it or not?

I’d love to hear from you all about it! 🙂

As always, thank you guys so much for reading; please like, share, follow and comment I’ll see you guys in my next post.

Weekday Edition!

Hi Guys!

I’m REALLY sorry it’s taken so long for me to publish this post, especially since I had originally said that I would upload it on Sunday, but given the holiday weekend (Memorial Day), I didn’t think it was very smart for me to publish on that day or Monday.

I was then supposed to upload this post on Tuesday, but got REALLY sick somehow late Monday night which literally has had me bed ridden for the past 2 days; but I’m FINALLY starting to feel better and know that it’s long overdue for me to put this up, so I’m finally going to be posting today!!

* * * * * *

Today’s post is going to be a “Day In The Life” weekday edition post!

As some of you may know (and if you don’t/didn’t, now you will), I actually work 2 jobs.

I have my primary, full-time job as a receptionist/legal assistant at a law firm in Manhattan, and then I work part-time as a front desk associate at Blink Fitness in Manhattan as well.

During the week, my work days tend to be more or less the same, but I actually haven’t been working at the gym as much in a while. So, for this specific post I wanted to choose a day that I was, so that I was able to give you guys the full effect of what a normal, busy work day would look like for me.

* * * * * *

I’m starting the post when I’m actually at work, just because my morning routine from the minute that I wake up, really isn’t that exciting, PLUS if that’s something you guys would REALLY be interested in seeing at some point, then it’s a separate post that I could do for you guys later on.

So, I usually start my work day at my primary job at 9am.

When I’m first getting in, I always need to make sure I get MY coffee and little breakfast from Starbucks (which is super convenient because there’s a location literally right next door).

Then once I actually step into the office I get the coffee going in the kitchen for the rest of the office, boot up my computer and emails and start printing emails for my boss.

FUN FACT: My boss is SUPER old-school, meaning, he almost literally has never used and/or owned a computer or up-to-date smartphone. That being said, we literally print and have physical copies of EVERYTHING; letters, agreements, notes, etc. We print everything for him, and he does everything by hand, writing it all out. Then when he’s ready, he’ll give whatever it is he’s working on to me or my office manager and we’ll type it out and bring it to life for him. So because of this, a lot of my job requires me to be walking back and forth from my desk to his office throughout the day (not complaining, it’s actually kind of nice weirdly enough).

IMG_8070.jpg

A big part of my job also includes multi-tasking and answering the phones.

I have 2 phones at my desk (pictured above). One (on the left) is for the law firm I’m predominantly hired by, and the other one (on the right) is for the other 2 firms in the office.

There are 3 law firms that I technically work for, all of which share office space within my office. It sounds a lot worse and more hectic than it really is, I promise! haha.

Anyway, throughout the day I end up just working on emails for my boss, agreements for the attorneys, writing out checks for some of the closings, paying bills, etc. It’s a pretty standard “desk job” I would say.

IMG_8089

I don’t usually end up going on my lunch break until about 1:30. I get an hour, so I think that’s the perfect time, because that’s usually when I end up getting hungry (and it tends to make the rest of the day go slightly faster lol). I’ll typically have lunch in the lounge of the building, but now that the weather is getting nicer, I’ll probably end up sitting outside more.

After lunch is when I’ll usually do my “end of the day tasks” like scheduling the FedEx pick-up because we tend to get a lot of them, last minute bill payments that need to be mailed out, finalize any/all supply orders and banking for the attorneys if it’s needed at all that day.

I know that it seems really short and actually sort of blahhh, but that’s because my days are usually chill here, and everything I mentioned are more or less the gist of my duties. Also, don’t get me wrong, as “blahh” as it may sound (or I made it sound), when it’s busy, IT’S FREAKIN’ BUSY. Phones ringing off the hook, deals going on left and right, etc. etc., but when it’s quiet, like it’s been a lot lately, it’s also REALLY quiet.

Which isn’t at all a bad thing because like I’ve mentioned to you guys a few times in previous posts, when it’s quiet, that usually ends up giving me the time to catch up on anything personal that I may be working on like blog posts, Instagram content, etc.

* * * * * *

I usually end at my first job at about 6pm, which typically tends to follow with me running to change as fast as I can into my Blink uniform then shooting over to the gym to start at 6:30.

Like I mentioned earlier, I’m a front desk associate so you’ll almost always catch me standing at (you guessed it) the front desk; greeting guests, helping them get checked in, signing new members up for their memberships, canceling current members’ memberships, or doing tours for potential new members.

IMG_8525

Working this job, although it can get challenging at times (if you’ve ever worked in retail before, you’ll know and/or understand EXACTLY why), actually ends up being a pretty great and perfect balance in my life believe it or not.

58025266876__EDE4EF3A-2ECB-43EE-9F74-C33BFBD46E50

58025102814__5F5030FB-60BC-4525-8D5C-9BDAEFE6BE59

I say that because at my first job, I’m pretty much just sitting at a desk in front of my computer for 8 hours, and while I’m at the gym, I’m almost always on my feet, walking around doing SOMETHING physical and hands-on (to some extent anyway).

Being that I start so late at the gym, if I’m working during the week, I always end up closing, which is at 11pm. The gym closes for our members at 11pm, but by the time we clean everything up, put all the weights away and batch-out for the night, it’s more or less 11:30; and then by the time I get home, shower, eat something, get myself ready for the next day, and get in bed to sleep, it’s usually about 12:30-1am.

So, the few times I actually work both jobs during the week, my days can get pretty long and hectic, but I like to think that somehow or another, it’s worth it.

* * * * * *

Well guys, that’s it. That’s pretty much a glimpse into my day-to-day, during the week, work routine. Not the most exciting thing in the world, but I also don’t necessarily think it’s dull or boring either.

I hope you guys enjoyed seeing a glimpse into my work life and that it was (somewhat) interesting to you all. I’m going to be sure to do a follow-up “day in the life” post for a weekend glimpse into my life when I’m NOT working, so stay tuned for that!

As always, thank you guys SO much for reading, please like, share, comment and follow and I’ll see you guys in my next post!
