Weekday Edition!

Hi Guys!

I’m REALLY sorry it’s taken so long for me to publish this post, especially since I had originally said that I would upload it on Sunday, but given the holiday weekend (Memorial Day), I didn’t think it was very smart for me to publish on that day or Monday.

I was then supposed to upload this post on Tuesday, but got REALLY sick somehow late Monday night which literally has had me bed ridden for the past 2 days; but I’m FINALLY starting to feel better and know that it’s long overdue for me to put this up, so I’m finally going to be posting today!!

* * * * * *

Today’s post is going to be a “Day In The Life” weekday edition post!

As some of you may know (and if you don’t/didn’t, now you will), I actually work 2 jobs.

I have my primary, full-time job as a receptionist/legal assistant at a law firm in Manhattan, and then I work part-time as a front desk associate at Blink Fitness in Manhattan as well.

During the week, my work days tend to be more or less the same, but I actually haven’t been working at the gym as much in a while. So, for this specific post I wanted to choose a day that I was, so that I was able to give you guys the full effect of what a normal, busy work day would look like for me.

* * * * * *

I’m starting the post when I’m actually at work, just because my morning routine from the minute that I wake up, really isn’t that exciting, PLUS if that’s something you guys would REALLY be interested in seeing at some point, then it’s a separate post that I could do for you guys later on.

So, I usually start my work day at my primary job at 9am.

IMG_8066

IMG_8079

IMG_8067

When I’m first getting in, I always need to make sure I get MY coffee and little breakfast from Starbucks (which is super convenient because there’s a location literally right next door).

Then once I actually step into the office I get the coffee going in the kitchen for the rest of the office, boot up my computer and emails and start printing emails for my boss.

FUN FACT: My boss is SUPER old-school, meaning, he almost literally has never used and/or owned a computer or up-to-date smartphone. That being said, we literally print and have physical copies of EVERYTHING; letters, agreements, notes, etc. We print everything for him, and he does everything by hand, writing it all out. Then when he’s ready, he’ll give whatever it is he’s working on to me or my office manager and we’ll type it out and bring it to life for him. So because of this, a lot of my job requires me to be walking back and forth from my desk to his office throughout the day (not complaining, it’s actually kind of nice weirdly enough).

IMG_8070.jpg

A big part of my job also includes multi-tasking and answering the phones.

I have 2 phones at my desk (pictured above). One (on the left) is for the law firm I’m predominantly hired by, and the other one (on the right) is for the other 2 firms in the office.

There are 3 law firms that I technically work for, all of which share office space within my office. It sounds a lot worse and more hectic than it really is, I promise! haha.

Anyway, throughout the day I end up just working on emails for my boss, agreements for the attorneys, writing out checks for some of the closings, paying bills, etc. It’s a pretty standard “desk job” I would say.

IMG_8089

I don’t usually end up going on my lunch break until about 1:30. I get an hour, so I think that’s the perfect time, because that’s usually when I end up getting hungry (and it tends to make the rest of the day go slightly faster lol). I’ll typically have lunch in the lounge of the building, but now that the weather is getting nicer, I’ll probably end up sitting outside more.

After lunch is when I’ll usually do my “end of the day tasks” like scheduling the FedEx pick-up because we tend to get a lot of them, last minute bill payments that need to be mailed out, finalize any/all supply orders and banking for the attorneys if it’s needed at all that day.

I know that it seems really short and actually sort of blahhh, but that’s because my days are usually chill here, and everything I mentioned are more or less the gist of my duties. Also, don’t get me wrong, as “blahh” as it may sound (or I made it sound), when it’s busy, IT’S FREAKIN’ BUSY. Phones ringing off the hook, deals going on left and right, etc. etc., but when it’s quiet, like it’s been a lot lately, it’s also REALLY quiet.

Which isn’t at all a bad thing because like I’ve mentioned to you guys a few times in previous posts, when it’s quiet, that usually ends up giving me the time to catch up on anything personal that I may be working on like blog posts, Instagram content, etc.

* * * * * *

I usually end at my first job at about 6pm, which typically tends to follow with me running to change as fast as I can into my Blink uniform then shooting over to the gym to start at 6:30.

Like I mentioned earlier, I’m a front desk associate so you’ll almost always catch me standing at (you guessed it) the front desk; greeting guests, helping them get checked in, signing new members up for their memberships, canceling current members’ memberships, or doing tours for potential new members.

IMG_8525

Working this job, although it can get challenging at times (if you’ve ever worked in retail before, you’ll know and/or understand EXACTLY why), actually ends up being a pretty great and perfect balance in my life believe it or not.

58025266876__EDE4EF3A-2ECB-43EE-9F74-C33BFBD46E50

58025102814__5F5030FB-60BC-4525-8D5C-9BDAEFE6BE59

I say that because at my first job, I’m pretty much just sitting at a desk in front of my computer for 8 hours, and while I’m at the gym, I’m almost always on my feet, walking around doing SOMETHING physical and hands-on (to some extent anyway).

Being that I start so late at the gym, if I’m working during the week, I always end up closing, which is at 11pm. The gym closes for our members at 11pm, but by the time we clean everything up, put all the weights away and batch-out for the night, it’s more or less 11:30; and then by the time I get home, shower, eat something, get myself ready for the next day, and get in bed to sleep, it’s usually about 12:30-1am.

So, the few times I actually work both jobs during the week, my days can get pretty long and hectic, but I like to think that somehow or another, it’s worth it.

* * * * * *

Well guys, that’s it. That’s pretty much a glimpse into my day-to-day, during the week, work routine. Not the most exciting thing in the world, but I also don’t necessarily think it’s dull or boring either.

I hope you guys enjoyed seeing a glimpse into my work life and that it was (somewhat) interesting to you all.ย I’m going to be sure to do a follow-up “day in the life” post for a weekend glimpse into my life when I’m NOT working, so stay tuned for that!

As always, thank you guys SO much for reading, please like, share, comment and follow and I’ll see you guys in my next post!

What’s Been Going On Lately?

Hey Guys,

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these spur of the moment, impromptu, what’s going on with me lately, type posts.

I figure today could be one of those posts because I’ve got SO much stuff running through my mind at the moment that I wanted to share a bit with you guys, so I guess that’s what I’m going to be doing.

* * * * * *

So, where to begin?….

I guess I can start off with the way I’ve been feeling since we’ve gotten back from our trip.

The first couple of days were genuinely tough, not only because of the jet-lag that I was dealing with, but also because of the vacation withdrawals I was going through.

Vacation withdrawals are a VERY real thing; some people take it serious and some just brush it off because they know that they’ve enjoyed their time during the vacation, and now it’s over, and that’s okay. But for me, it REALLY sucked when it was over.

Why?

I guess because it was the first trip I had gone on in SUCH a long time, I was planning it for SO long and it was the first trip that I had ever completely paid for and planned on my own. We had such an amazing time and were so care-free while over there, it was great.

And then we came back to reality and went back to our normal routines, which is fine because that’s what’s supposed to happen, but it made me realize that I don’t really like my normal routine, and I know I can be doing SO much more.

I went back to working both jobs that take up AT LEAST 75% of my time most days, which I’m VERY grateful to have because some people aren’t as lucky, BUT neither of them are what I REALLY want to be doing…

It left me thinking a lot lately about why I’m giving so much of my time and energy to these things that leave me with little to no free-time for myself to be working on the things that actually matter to me? Obviously I need to work, and obviously I need money. However, why continue to give all this time and energy to these things that are in no way, shape, or form adding real meaning to my life nor my career??

*I’m predominantly referring to my second job, not my primary one, btw.*

Doing this, I’ve quickly realized, is actually what’s sucking the energy, motivation and creativity away from me. It’s leaving me exhausted all of the time, and is what’s forcing me to have lack of motivation to do anything but rest really.

* * * * * *

My writing and blog are SO important to me, and because of all this, it’s caused me to have writer’s block more so than what I normally would have. I know the type of things I want to write and talk about, but I’ve been second guessing myself SO much recently and don’t actually know or feel like they’re interesting enough to publish on my site.

I’m such a perfectionist and have such high expectations for myself that it’s hard for me to actually put myself and my writing out there sometimes when I don’t feel like it’s my best, and this just adds on to it since I feel like I’m not really giving it my all.

I mean, who wants to post just to post? Not me.

I want to make sure that if I’m posting and putting myself out there, it’s because I’m giving you guys my best.

I’m also well-aware that I’ve got no one to blame but myself for this, because I’m the one who chose to pick up a second job, and money-wise it’s been okay, but at what cost?

I’m past the point of doing these things and jobs that don’t mean much to me. I want and need to start focusing more on finding things that make me happy and continue to be an asset to my life as well as my creativity.

I want to be happy doing the work that I am, and although I was content with these things, jobs, etc. for a while, I’m realizing more and more that it’s time to take a step back from all of that (while being smart about it obviously), and really begin to look for and do work in the specific field that I want.

That being said, I’m making the executive decision to make some big changes in my life in the coming weeks/months.

I don’t know exactly what all of them will be and how I’m going to go about them, but even if I did, I don’t think it would be the best and/or smartest thing to do to tell you guys them just yet (I’m sort of superstitious in that sense). Once they become more final, I will be sure to share them with you guys as much as I can and bring you guys along in my journey as I’ve always promised that I would!!

* * * * * *

On a separate and somewhat more POSITIVE note, I’ve really been trying my best since coming back to keep myself as busy as possible with the fun and more creative stuff that I like to do like with my blog, planning other trips/events and shooting more content for my Instagram.

I told myself (as well as Diego since he is my photographer) that I want and need to be more consistent when it comes to my content on Instagram. Social media isn’t everything, but it is and I think always will be a BIG portion of where my following comes from, so it is very much true what people tend to say, that consistency IS key. So there’s that.

I’ve also seriously been considering more and more recently creating a YouTube channel.

This really isn’t anything new and is actually something I’ve been saying I want to try doing for a while now, but I don’t know….lately I’ve been watching a TON of different videos which has been inspiring me more and more to want to finally do it.

I need to figure a few more things out as far as how I’m going to have the separation between creating enjoyable content for you guys both for my blog here and on the channel, but let’s see…….LeoGirl could be coming to YouTube soon, who knows? ๐Ÿ˜ stay tuned for that.

And finally, Diego and I have a few things coming up soon that are pretty exciting. Nothing that’s too through the roof and extravagant, but a few things that are really fun and exciting for us that I can’t wait for you guys to see, INCLUDING a very possible trip for my own birthday in August…..๐Ÿคช, it’s still in the works, but remember what I told you guys, when I really want and/or put my mind to something, I will ALWAYS find a way to make it happen ๐Ÿ˜‡.

* * * * * *

I’m really trying to remain positive because I know all of this that I’ve been feeling lately is only temporary, but I wanted to share it with you guys in hopes that it’ll show you if you’re feeling the same way at all (about any of these things), that you are not alone.

It’s a sucky feeling to have in the moment, but unfortunately that’s life, and it happens. The only thing we can do is try to think ahead and hope that we can find solutions to these things and/or have things to look forward to before it gets us down.

Regardless, I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Please like, share, follow and comment, and I’ll see you guys in my next one.

-Xoxo, LeoGirl โค

My Favorite TV Shows

Hellooooooo everybody! ๐Ÿ™‚

For today’s post I thought it would be fun to share with you guys some of my all-time favorite TV shows, especially since a couple of months ago, I did something similar but with my favorite movies (which I’ll leave linkedย hereย if you guys wanted to check it out).

Nowadays, due to the lack of free-time I end up having, I almost never get to REALLY watch and/or keep up with most TV shows, unless it’s late at night for like half hour before I go to bed.

HOWEVER, the few times I DO somehow manage to have some free-time and be able to watch TV, chances are, I’m watching one of the shows that I’m about to mention.

As always, they are not going to be in any particular order (except for the very first one I’m going to mention, and you’ll see why ๐Ÿ˜), but I’m also going to try and give you guys a brief little description as to WHY they’re my favorite shows.

* * * * * *

So, without further adieu……here they are:

  1. Friends

Friends-together-withtitle-friends

Don’t be surprised by this one…..AT ALL. If you know me, you know that Friends is literally my ALL TIME FAVORITE SHOW!!!!!!! Nothing can beat it (I’m aware of how bold a statement that is, but it’s the truth…….don’t argue with me).

This is a show that I can literally watch every single day, several times a day, over and over again throughout the series, never get bored of it, and still always find the same jokes, phrases, etc. as funny as I did the very first time I ever watched it…which is actually interesting considering HOW quickly I tend to get bored with things usually, but whatever I’m not questioning it.

If by some miracle, you’ve never seen and/or ever heard of Friends, either go on Netflix right now and watch it from beginning to end, OR tune in to Nick @ Nite at 11pm until about 1:30am to watch a few episodes a night!!

2. Vampire Diaries

vampire-diaries-cast-750x522-1462481638

I was BEYOND obsessed with this show when it first came out. It was during the whole Twilight-Vampire obsession phase that I had, so OF COURSE I was interested in it. I mean c’mon, sexy main vampire characters, love triangles, and teen drama…who doesn’t love that?! And I was actually pretty good with keeping up with it for a long time, until like the last season or 2 when I had heard *SPOILER*ย that they had killed Elena off the show….then I was just pissed and said screw this because seriously, HOW DO YOU KILL THE MAIN CHARACTER OFF HER SHOW?!! I was so upset…

But recently (a few months ago or so) I decided to not only re-watch the show, but also actually watch until the end, and oh my god…my poor heart. I won’t say what happens because if you haven’t seen it, you definitely should, but wow what an emotional roller-coaster.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of how they ended the show, but overall, I really loved it and would still re-watch it if I ever had some time (which I’ve been thinking about doing again recently).

3. Total Divas/Total Bellas

I honestly forgot how exactly I got into this show, but I think it was just mainly because it was the Divas from wrestling. When I was younger, my brother and I were REALLY into wrestling, we would consistently watch it every Mondays and Thursdays whenever it would come on TV. And so when I saw and/or heard that they were coming out with a reality show for the Divas (Total Divas) from wrestling, even though I really didn’t know or ever hear of any of the ones that were on the show, I was immediately interested.

Oh, and John Cena would make occasional appearances, so there was also that, which was just an added bonus.

I think it’s a pretty good reality show, if you’re into wrestling at all (or were) and know any of the girls on the show. They also have a spin-off now called Total Bellas for the Bella twins (who were my personal favorite on Total Divas ANYWAY), so whenever I can, I really like to watch and/or catch up on what’s going on with theses shows.

4. Jersey Shore

91uVQlCdViL._RI_

I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory….lol. I mean c’mon, Jersey Shore is and I feel like always WILL be a classic. I don’t watch this show all the time, but I go through random phases every couple of months where I just feel the urge to want to watch certain episodes, and so I do, and it ends up being me re-watching the ENTIRE series.

I haven’t been able to watch and/or really keep up at all with Jersey Shore: Family Vacation as much, and I don’t think they’re actually on any of the streaming services like Netflix or Hulu, but if it was, I would definitely watch it.

5. Law & Order (SVU)

Law-Order-SVU-pinterestcom

Who doesn’t love a good crime show? Personally, I love the older seasons and episodes when Olivia and Elliot were still partners, but I’ll watch this show regardless. You get so hooked from just watching a few episodes alone, it’s hard not to want to keep watching.

I’m not actually sure if they stream that show on Netflix, Hulu, or any other streaming sites, but you can definitely always find it playing on TV at some point throughout the day.

6. Sex & The City

25

This is another show that is and will ALWAYS be a classic. If I remember correctly, I think I actually got into this show when I was in my first year of college. My roommate Abby and I would literally stay in our dorm room for hours before and after classes with food, snacks, etc. just binge watching this show ALL the time. It’s SO good.

I don’t know how I waited so long to finally see the movie, but about a year ago, I saw the first movie, and of course LOVED it. Now, I just need to see the second one even though I’m sure I’ll end up loving it as well! ๐Ÿ˜€

7. Hell’s Kitchen

HellsKitchen1-900x675

If you’re in to cooking and/or watching cooking shows and have never seen this one before, I HIGHLY recommend that you do. Gordon Ramsay is an AMAZINGLY blunt British badass, who is also an amazing chef.

Hell’s Kitchen is probably my favorite show of his to watch. It can be super intense, just because it’s a competition between a bunch of different chefs from all over the US over who ends up being the head chef at his newest restaurant and some people pass out from the pressure or have Gordon scream and curse his ass off at the competitors when they screw any/all of the dishes in the dinner services up.

I believe they stream multiple shows of his on Hulu and/or Netflix if you guys wanted to check it out.

8. Chopped

screen_shot_2014-04-07_at_11.48.53_am

Another great cooking show that I always love and find interesting to watch. I only recently somehow stumbled upon this show, but I’m glad that I did, because it’s SO great.

Similar to Hell’s Kitchen, it’s a cooking competition show, but for this show specifically there’s three rounds (appetizers, entrees and dessert). For each course the competitors are given only a handful of certain ingredients, and with that, they’re expected to come up with a dish for each course that’s going to blow the judges away. Not to mention they only have a certain, short amount of time to be able to make the dishes per round. Most of the time the winner ends up getting a prize of $10,000.

This too gets streamed on Hulu, or if you don’t have Hulu, they also give it all the time on the actual Cooking Channel.

9. Power

2560x1440

Self-explanatory, again. This show is probably the BEST crime drama series/show out right now.

I’ll wait for someone to try and argue with me about it……….

Nothing, right? Okay then, let’s continue…

This show is AMAZING and will 100% ALWAYS keep you not only on your toes, but also always wanting more. The romance, the action, it’s all so good; and if you haven’t seen it before, I definitely recommend you do before the new season comes out this summer!

The only thing I really don’t like and/or care for is the fact that it always feels like FOREVERRRRRR before the newest season comes out, although that could just be from how excited and impatient I am, but yeah….COME OUT WITH SEASONS QUICKER POWER PRODUCERS!!๐Ÿ˜ค

10. Baking Championships (Holiday, Halloween, Spring, etc.)

bf86a625929ab56ae22c2cb66be818b6ed3860d8acdc1e0dda381a640c9c

So similar to cooking shows, I’m also REALLY into watching almost anything related to baking (yes, I LOVE to bake, although I don’t get to do it nearly as much as I’d like). However, out of most of the shows for baking they tend to run on the cooking channel, these Baking Championships tend to be my favorites.

They have some with kids, some with adults, and they’re all for different occasions (as shown in the picture). Out of all of them though, I would have to say that my absolute 2 favorites are the ones for Halloween and Christmas; they’re so festive and cute and SO interesting to watch the kind of stuff the contestants come up with.

11. Bones

market

Another great crime show. This is actually a show that my dad introduced me to years ago (how crazy is that to say?!). We used to watch it as a family ALL the time, every Wednesdays from 8-9pm, it was great.

This show is similar to Law & Order, except it’s much more lighthearted, meaning, there’s a lot more jokes, sarcasm, romance, etc. being thrown around ON TOP of the actual crime stuff that they show.

Fun Fact: This show was actually one of the main reasons that I entertained the idea of studying and becoming a forensic anthropologist back in high school (until my guidance counselor at the time shot and killed my dreams one day ๐Ÿ™ƒ). I wanted to be just like Dr. Temperance Brennan!! haha.

12. Teen Mom

Another great drama-filled reality show. I’ve been “following” these ladies (a.k.a. just watching the show with them on it), since they were all originally on 16 & Pregnant. SO crazy how fast time flies considering all of their “babies” are pretty much grown-up now. But, I only really watch the show because of particular girls on it like all of the girls from Teen Mom 2 and only Macie and Catelynn from Teen Mom OG. I kind of find the other 2 annoying, but what do I know? Lol.

Anyway, similar to Jersey Shore and Total Divas/Bellas it’s a reality show, so there’s going to be a ton of drama, ups, downs, relationships, etc. It’s funny and interesting to somewhat keep up with peoples’ lives the way you do when you watch reality shows like this, but what can I say? I’m a sucker for a good reality show.

* * * * * *

So those were all of the shows that I tend to watch whenever I get a little bit of free-time, but I also wanted to share with you guys some shows that I actually want to START watching, but haven’t found the time to do yet, in hopes that maybe you guys can give me some feedback on them like whether or not they’re actually worth the watch. So, here they go:

  1. You

becd48b3-17b1-4320-8cfb-62ff24d609a0-you1

Never watched Gossip Girl, but heard it was extremely similar to that show, so I guess if I watch this show then I kind of have to watch the other? I know they don’t go hand-in-hand, but still. Worth the watch or over-hyped?

2. Riverdale

riverdale

Okay, so I have NO idea why, but for a long time now, I’ve had the strong urge to start watching this show. Never saw it before, never saw any trailers for it, etc., but something’s always told me to watch it for some reason, because I have a feeling I’ll REALLY like it, but I don’t know…about 2-3 months ago when I had some time on my hands and wasn’t working 2 jobs, I watched like the first 2 episodes, and wasn’t really into it.

Worth the watch or over-hyped? Does it take a little while to really get into it?

Also, fun fact: my brother and I were HUGE fans of the original Archie comics when we were kids! ๐Ÿ™‚

3. Orange Is The New Black (Torn about this one?)

OITNB_S6_Header

I’m a little late to the party with this one, but I’ve always kind of heard mixed reviews on it. I also heard after like the 4th season, it kind of started going downhill and was nowhere near as good as it was when it first started, soooooo…….thoughts? Worth it or not so much?

4. Big Mouth

954332

And finally lol …… this show. So Chris (my brother), one day when he was home last November, had me watch the first like 5-10 minutes of this show with him, and man oh man did it not only take me off guard, but it also fucked me uppppppppppp. I was not expecting to hear the stuff that I did in the first couple of minutes. BUT, it’s actually really funny to think back on now, and I think I’d actually really like it, so what do you guys think? Yay or nay on giving this show a shot?

* * * * * *

I also thought it would be really fun to do similar posts about this for my favorite throwback TV shows from like early 2000s and late ’90s (animated and regular), and take a small trip down memory lane, because that’s always fun to do once in a while isn’t it? Let the nostalgia hit and linger for a bit….I know I always love that every once in a while.

Let me know what you guys think about that and if that would be something you’d be interested in seeing?! ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, let me know in the comments what you thought about some of my favorite TV shows to watch. Are any of the ones I mentioned your favorites too? Do you have completely different ones? Do you guys have any good show recommendations for me to start?! Let me knowwwww! ๐Ÿ˜€

I hope you guys enjoyed this post; as always, thank you so much for reading. Please like, share, follow and comment and I’ll see you guys in my next post!
