Recap Of Christmas Weekend

Andddddd we’re back to regularly scheduled programming :/

Who else is bummed that Christmas is officially over?! Because I know I definitely am 😦 . But, at the same time, I’m actually really happy because I had a REALLY great and memorable weekend (unexpectedly at that).

I ALWAYS look forward to Christmas-time, as I’ve mentioned several times before in other posts, but I also don’t ever expect much just because it’s always relatively quiet in my house, and we (my immediate family) always end up staying home and just being with each other.

THIS YEAR, however, was completely different (in a great way). I say that because this year we got to spend it with extended family, something that we haven’t done for one reason or another in YEARS.

Now don’t get me wrong, just spending it with my immediate family for the past few years was always nice too and comfortable, but it really is always a great time when we get together with our extended family too.

* * * * * *

Family Time!

So, this year we were able to spend Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day with my mom’s side of the family. Christmas Eve we hosted at our house, which was Christmas Pajama themed, and Christmas Day we spent at my Godfather and aunt’s house, which was Christmas Slipper themed.

Both were ridiculously fun, filled with Christmas music, laughter, gift giving, games, karaoke and an overwhelming amount of food and desserts (not complaining about that though lol).

When we (the cousins) were all younger, it would be like our little Christmas tradition to always get together and spend Christmas at SOMEONE’S house from the family. So the fact that for a while there it had stopped was kind of sad, but I’m SO glad we finally got to pick up on it because it was definitely a blast.

*Also, if you read my ‘The Christmas Tag’ post from Blogmas day 1 (which I’ll leave linked here if you want to check it out), you would’ve seen that my top “Christmas wish” was to be able to have this happen, so the fact that it actually DID was really awesome for me.*

Overall, it was a really great weekend, and although it wasn’t my ENTIRE family there with us (from both sides), and some important people were missing, it was still fun and extremely memorable.

Plus, I got a ton of great stuff this Christmas, which was another surprising thing because I really don’t ever tend to tell people things I want for Christmas and/or give them a wishlist anymore. But, let’s get into a few of the things I got….

* * * * * *

Presents!!

Firstly, I just want to start off by saying that I’m not usually the type to show off every single thing I get for my birthday, Christmas, etc., I just find it kind of weird and also tend to feel bad.

Sure, I’m grateful for everything I get, and I’ll show one or 2 things that I really love, but overall I just end up feeling bad about it because I never want to make it seem like I’m throwing things in peoples faces. What if they can’t afford things like that? Or what if they don’t usually get things for these occasions at all? Just a few of the things that go through my mind for things like this…

However, I’ve come to realize that doing what I’m doing now (blogging) and how into it I’ve gotten, it’s kind of a necessity to do that. Not necessarily show off the things I have, wear, etc., but to the same extent, that’s kind of exactly what it is, which is why more and more recently I’ve been sharing things like that with you guys.

So that’s what I’m going to be doing right now, sharing with you guys a few of the great gifts I received from my loved ones this year 🙂

  1. The first few things I want to mention are actually stuff that Diego got for me. We’re actually really weird when it comes to gift giving, because we get so excited about doing it and what we got the other person that we end up talking about it ALL the time (without actually saying what it is), and have the anticipation kill the other person lol. This year he got me this GORGEOUS Coach bag (which he knew I needed because although I almost never switch out my bag(s) once I get used to them, it was LONG overdue for a new one) and 2 masks from the brand GlamGlow because he knows I LOVE face masks. ❤

Gifts from Diego ❤

2. These aren’t all of them, but they are a few of the gifts that I received from my parents. I’ve never heard of the brand that blue bag is from, but it’s called Karl Lagerfeld Paris and I think it’s SO cute. Tiny, but definitely fashionable and can hold quite a few of my little things that I typically tend to carry in my purses. Then you have these UGG rain/snow boots which are great too because I’ve been DYING for a pair of boots like this for the longest, and what better then a simple black pair? Then you have this Miss Dior perfume that I’ve been wanting because it smells SO pretty AND……it’s Demi’s favorite perfume ….are you surprised? You shouldn’t be….And finally, you have this cute little Christmas story book. If you guys haven’t realized by now, I’m a bigass kid, ESPECIALLY when it comes to cute little things like this, I mean c’mon….LOOK AT IT!!!!! 😭😍 Plus, I cannot WAIT until I have kids one day to read these to them, and even pass them along to them…ugh it’s going to be the best!! (Again, just a few of the things they got me, not all).

(Some) Gifts from my parents ❤

3. This is a gift I actually got from a good friend of mine and Diego’s named Geno. How freakin’ dope are these?! I’ve come to REALLY love this brand and it’s style. So far, I have a t-shirt from them (courtesy of Diego), another pair of sneakers although they’re off-white (also courtesy of Diego), and now these!! Can’t wait to take some cool pictures with these on and show them to you guys! 😀

4. And finally……the gifts I received from my brother and his fiance!! You guys, I was so damn excited when I saw this….lol. For those of you that don’t know, I’m a HUGE Potterhead, so this was ridiculously exciting for me!! It’s actually pretty funny, because about a month ago, I had told Chris (my brother), that if no one got me a wand for Christmas…everyone hated me, and he/they actually remembered and did it!! 😂. Plus, the books are always great to read (especially now with the illustrations to back them up), and I love penguins AND fuzzy socks, so it was a general win/win for me. Thanks guys!! ❤

Best Things To Do/See In New York During The Holidays!

For my 4th Blogmas post, I thought it would be cool and fun to share with you guys some things that I think are really great to do and see during this time of year around New York City.

I’ve lived in New York ALL my life, and I can honestly say that the city is such a magical place to be in during the holidays. Personally, all of the shows, attractions, etc. never get old (it could just be because I’m a Christmas fanatic in every sense of the name, but that’s completely besides the point haha).

I do, however, know that it can also be a bit overwhelming to be in the city during this time of the year BECAUSE of everything that’s going on. Plus, there’s so much to do and see, how would you know where to start?! So, I hope you guys find this little ‘guide’ so to speak, helpful in assisting to narrow some of those things down for you! 🙂

These aren’t going to be in any particular order because, well, when do I ever put things in a particular order? And, I literally love going to do and see EVERYTHING that I’m going to mention, so there’s no way for me to order them in any specific way haha.

But anyway, let’s get started!

* * * * * *

  1. Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes (In Radio City Music Hall).

Diego and I actually just took his mom and nephews to see this show this past weekend. It was their first time seeing it, and our 3rd. It’s quickly become a mini holiday tradition of ours to go every year.

This is something that I recommend for EVERYONE (whether you live in NY or are just temporarily visiting) to go see at least ONCE. It’s such an amazing show filled with skits, Christmas music and just generally a great time. It runs for about 90 minutes, and is a great show to go see with a significant other, family, your kids, friends, etc. Scroll down to see some pictures from the show.

For this show, I suggest using the TodayTix app because they tend to have pretty good (and sometimes cheap) ticket options.

2. The Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show

This is another great attraction to do with family, friends and/or a significant other. If you’re not from New York, this specific attraction is actually in the Bronx, but 100% worth making the trip to. I took my family and Diego to see this for the first time (it was also my first time), last year right before Christmas.

I wanna say that it’s been open for about 2 years now, because I remember when it first opened in 2016 it was SO popular that it was next to impossible to get tickets for it. Every single day from the time it opened until it closed for the season was completely sold out. So, last year I jumped at the opportunity to grab some tickets, and we all loved it. The way everything was set up from the trains themselves, to the mini set ups for each section, it is SO well put together. Plus, if you buy tickets for the train show, it also automatically allows you the opportunity to be able to walk around the garden a bit afterwards which, in itself, is beautiful as well!

I’m leaving the link here in case you guys wanted to buy some tickets for this!

3. Holiday window display(s) and other holiday attractions around the city.

When you’re in the city during the holidays, it’s almost impossible for you to somehow miss all of the decor, window displays and attractions, just because a lot of them just happen to be all around each other. Some places in particular I recommend walking through/by are 5th and 6th avenue, just because you’ll easily be passing a lot of the “main” holiday attractions like from Saks 5th Avenue, Barneys, Lord and Taylor, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, etc.

Plus, all of these places (although they do get pretty busy and packed), are GREAT for videos and pictures of these things if you’re into that for memories sake.

4. Ice-skating!

Ice-skating is definitely a go-to thing to do while you’re in the city. Obviously other cities and places have ice-skating as well, but what better then being able to do it in some of the most popular places in New York like Bryant Park, Central Park or even Rockefeller Center?!

Plus, this is a perfect little date night to have with your significant other. Super cute and romantic, and these are definitely other great spots to be able to take cute and memorable pictures.

Central Park (although they have 2 different ice skating rinks here, one called Lasker and one called Wollman’s rink, the one pictured is Wollman rink).

5. See and buy stuff from the holiday markets around the city (i.e., Bryant Park and Union Square (14th St.) holiday markets).

This sort of piggybacks off the ice-skating suggestion just because, right outside of the ice-skating rink at Bryant Park, they have these little holiday market shops where you can buy all sorts of things from snacks, to clothing, jewelry, etc.

They are the PERFECT little shops to stop at before heading home for the night, especially if you happen to be doing any last minute Christmas shopping for people. They also have mini holiday shops/stands like this in 14th Street, Union Square if you happen to be in that area instead of around Bryant Park.

6. Cocoa & Carols Holiday Cruise

And finally I want to suggest the Cocoa & Carols holiday cruise. Personally, I think this would be the CUTEST little date to take your significant other on. It’s super chill, not that expensive, and also pretty romantic. HOWEVER, this little excursion is also just as good for family and friends as well (it’s what you end up making of it).

The entire cruise itself goes on for about an hour and a half, and when you buy a ticket, it comes with a complimentary beer, glass of wine, champagne or (the more obvious one), hot cocoa! There are also cookies and other sweets that are included as well. You get to hear and sing along to Christmas songs, and you’ll end up seeing a TON of some of the most popular attractions/sights of New York like the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Battery Park, South Street Seaport, etc.

*Groupon and Goldstar tends to have pretty good dates and deals for this excursion btw, so you should definitely check that out!*

The link for Goldstar I’ll leave here for you to easily access. And the one for Groupon, I’ll leave here .

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and that whether you’re already from New York, or just visiting, that this helped you in some way, shape or form to narrow down some of the (best) things to do/see in Manhattan while you’re there during the holiday season. It can definitely be a little crazy here during this time of the year, but I think it’s definitely worth the wait and trip.

Thanks so much for reading, please follow, like, share and comment, and I’ll see you guys on Sunday for my next Blogmas post! 🙂

Christmas Decor Haul!

What’s goin’ on you guys?! 😀

For my second Blogmas post, I wanted to do and share with you guys a Christmas decor haul post! I did one for Fall/Halloween, so I figure why not do another for the holiday season?!

Similar to my Fall/Halloween haul post (which I’ll leave linked here if you guys wanted to check it out), for the most part everything I picked up is affordable and not at all crazy expensive. I shopped at stores like Dollar Tree, Target, CVS (again), and the Christmas Tree Shop!!

Some are things I’ve had from last year, and a lot of them are actually new additions that I’m really excited about sharing with you guys! 😀

I figure I’ll pretty much do it the same way I did the last one, in that I’ll break the items up based off the store(s) I bought them at.

So let’s get started! 🙂

* * * * * *

Dollar Tree

I feel like this store is SO underrated.  Literally every single thing you pick up here is $1. They don’t say their store is a dollar or a 99 cents store but then really everything is $2, $3, $4…no. EVERY SINGLE THING IS $1. AND especially for things/occasions like this, they actually have A LOT of cute and good quality stuff for it.

Dollar Tree is definitely a go-to for me when I’m shopping for decorations for a particular occasion. It’s actually probably one of the first stores I go check out before anywhere else. Scroll down to see the things I got from there.

To be able to hang on my door.
IMG_1740
Candy cane streamer, which I hung over my bed.
IMG_1741
The next four are all Christmas signs that I hung throughout the walls in my room.

IMG_1748

IMG_1750

IMG_1767

IMG_1753
I hung these candy canes right above my bed frame.
IMG_1755
So I hung the candy canes at a distance from each other, and in between them, put these cute little signs.

* * * * * *

Target:

Target, as I’m sure relatively EVERYONE knows, has really great stuff when it comes to special occasions, holidays, etc. as well. BUT, it is or could be more on the pricier side of things.

These next 2 things I got were actually from Target, but thankfully, weren’t that bad at all price-wise.

IMG_1757
Santa Claus fairy lights!! If you saw (and/or remember) my Halloween/Fall decor post, I got similar lights, but with pumpkins on them and I strung them over my vanity.
IMG_1760
So I got these in a box last year from Target. They’re little wind up toys and came with a total of 6 of them. Originally, I got them for Diego’s nephews as little stocking stuffers, but I ended up having a ton extra, so I gave some to my family and kept these two for myself. And I just put them at the tops of my vanity for decoration.

Bath & Body Works

This one is pretty self- explanatory just because in general for the most part, this entire store is for buying candles, wall scents, etc. I buy my candles from here (as pictured below), HOWEVER, they don’t have a HUGE selection, but they do also have little decorative pieces here and there aside from candles and scents, which is where I got the below figurines.

IMG_2494
During the holidays, these are my three absolute favorite scented candles to get from Bath & Body Works. Ugh, they smell AMAZING. Light any one of these candles, put on some Christmas music, and I promise you you’ll be in the Christmas spirit instantly.

I had went to Bath & Body Works after Christmas last year (a few days later), when there were a TON of sales going on and saw these and thought they were SO cute for like $1, so I grabbed them both! 🙂

IMG_1761

* * * * * *

Christmas Tree Shops

And finally, I HAD to mention my absolute favorite store of all (for the Holiday season), which is called Christmas Tree Shops!!

You guys…obsessed is an understatement. The name is super deceiving, but this place is completely decked out from head to toe in Christmas Decor. They have everything from Christmas trees, to lights and decorations, food, snacks and candy, etc.

And the best part about them? THEY’RE NOT EXPENSIVE AT ALL. Now, I wouldn’t say the prices are as cheap as Dollar Tree, but regardless it’s still pretty inexpensive compared to most places.

I didn’t get ALL that much stuff here, but I cannot wait to go here to buy all of mine and Diego’s future holiday decorations for our own place. 😀 ❤

IMG_2420
Some little pictures/plaques that I hung up around my room.

IMG_2422

IMG_2452

IMG_2461
More little pictures/plaques for my room, but I actually keep these in particular on my TV stand along with the other little things which I’m going to mention in a second.
IMG_2424
This picture is a tiny bit misleading, just because the little tree on the left was actually part of the figurine decorations I got at bath & body works, and the snowglobe on the right, I actually got in CVS. BUT, the Christmas countdown in the middle was from the Christmas Tree Shops store lol. (Also, these 3 pieces are actually my favorites from everything that I have).
IMG_2465
And the last couple of things I have are actually these mini light-up snowglobe type things. They’re those ones that you see in all sorts of characters, occasions, etc. that also change color as they stay on. Super cute, and they were only $1 each. These are what I keep on my TV along with the plaques I mentioned before. See below for them changing colors.

* * * * * *

Well guys, that’s it. Those are all of the holiday decorations I have this year (for my room anyway). I hope you guys enjoyed this post and/or that I peaked your interest with some of the pieces I had.

Leave me a comment or write to me on social media about any holiday-related posts or posts in general that you guys would like to see in the future!

Please like, share, follow, and comment, and I’ll see you guys on Sunday for my Blogmas day 3 post! 🙂
