What I’ve Learned From 2020

Hey guys,

Long time, no see. Happy New Year! Happy 2021!!

I HATE going this long without posting anything, and I’m really sorry about it, but life has been crazy the past few months for me, as I’m sure it’s been for everyone else as well.

BUT, regardless, it is a NEW year, new beginning and chance to reinvent your(my)self! How exciting is that to think about?! People always like to make the “new year, new me” jokes, but why can’t you change the way you are for the new year? Isn’t that always the point of getting excited for the new year to begin with? Creating new goals, new memories, new habits, etc. etc.? I can’t speak for everyone, but that’s definitely always MY mentality when the new year rolls around.

Because of this, I wanted to reflect a bit and have my first post of the year be about some of the things that I learned from 2020 and hope to change and/or build on for this year (since Lord knows there were a shit ton of things I think we can ALL take away from last year).

* * * * * *

So let’s get straight into it….in no particular order:

  1. Patience

I think we all learned the hard way last year that patience really is a virtue. This was SO important all throughout 2020, for multiple reasons. Whether we liked it or not, we had to be patient with everything going on all throughout the pandemic. As frustrating as it was, and continues to be at times, we all had to trust and have patience that everything was going to workout, fall into place and go back to how it used to (and no I don’t mean that we’re going to go back exactly how we were before, but that’s besides the point).

Personally, I was also forced to learn a lot about patience professionally. I was at my last job for almost 4 years and DYING to get out and finally find something within the field I loved. And it was one of the MOST frustrating things for such a long time not being able to do anything about it. I was agitated every single day that I had to get up and go to work. Not because of the people or the work itself, just out of frustration for the fact that it wasn’t really what I wanted to do. Until November…when I least expected it, I got a call about an interview for my dream job at my dream company, and within 2 weeks, I had secured the position!! When you finally decide to release control and least expect it is usually when things really start to fall into place. Trust the process and realize that God’s got you, always!! He knows what He’s doing.

2. Gratitude

I don’t know about you guys, but gratitude was a major thing that I learned in 2020 as well, which is funny because I’ve always been grateful for the things and people that I have in my life, but I guess because I was always so ‘on the go’ pre-pandemic, it never really hit me HOW blessed I was and should be. The pandemic and everything else going on in the world at the time, and even now, really shows you that nothing is ever promised in life, so live like today’s your last day on earth and always be grateful for everything and everyone in your life whether big or small.

3. Health

This one is also kind of funny just because I’ve always strived to be healthy and fit (to some extent) when I was big into dieting and working out pre-pandemic, but throughout 2020 I really made myself buckle down and take my mental and physical health a lot more serious. I really made it a priority to recognize the type of things I take in mentally and emotionally via TV or social media, as well as the foods and what not that I put into my body. I’ve never been one for taking vitamins, but after everything that’s gone on, I’ve really realized how important it is, especially as a woman because of everything our bodies go through as it is. I may be slacking a bit on the working out part of physical health, but I do plan on getting back into that slowly but surely in the coming days/weeks.

4. Working smarter, not harder

This pandemic and being home for as long as I have has really put things into perspective as far as my content creation on all platforms. Since everything was shutdown and we were forced to stay home, it forced me (and everyone else that does the type of work I do obviously) to REALLY get creative. It can be difficult as it is sometimes to come up with content ideas in general, but add in the fact that we had to stay home for as long as we have been and feeling like there’s only so many things you can do and show within your home?? Geez, taking creativity to a whole other level. And it still can be challenging sometimes, but the key really is to just work smarter, not harder. Play to your own personal interests and pick the brains of your audience, and it’ll end up being simpler then you think.

5. Self care

This one also plays into the mental health part we were just talking about, but in 2020 more than EVER I realized how truly important it was to put down and step away from your phone/computer and practice self-care. Whether that’s pampering myself, doing the things I love or just being by myself, it’s so important to take care of yourself (in all ways). It really does wonders for your mental health. It gives your mind, body and soul a chance to relax and rejuvenate itself either for the rest of the day or the next day. Please please please prioritize your self-care treatments, whatever that may be for you.

And finally, 6. Surrounding yourself with good vibes

This is just as equally important as everything else I’ve mentioned. I know we’re in the middle of a pandemic and we really aren’t supposed to (or shouldn’t) be seeing other people, but if you are one of those people that are still doing this, please make sure that you are at least keeping good company and positive vibes around you; whether that’s family, friends, significant others, etc. There is enough negative and scary crap going on in/around the world without you adding on to it by keeping bad company around you. Nobody needs any sort of extra negativity lingering around them and it is SO important to keep good people and vibes around you. It helps keep your spirits up when things are rough, and this also doesn’t just apply to people; be sure to keep good/positive music, scents, etc. around you. When you surround yourself with good vibes and energy, it not only makes you feel good, but also ends up mirroring into your own life.

* * * * * *

I hope that you guys enjoyed this new post and took something away from it. I know that I say this A LOT, but I am officially back and my goal for this year is to post at LEAST once a week, twice if I can. So please don’t be shy in dropping any/all suggestions that you may want to see from me on here.

If you enjoyed it, please make sure to drop a like and hit that follow button if you’re new! πŸ™‚ Also don’t forget to follow me on all of my other social media accounts to stay up to date with everything I’m up to and working on (they’re always mapped out below).

Thank you guys for reading, and I’ll see you in the next one!

Tips For Making Your Last Minute Christmas Shopping (Slightly) Easier

Hello Everyone and happy Sunday!!

For my 5th Blogmas post, I thought it would be good, with there being only 9 days until Christmas left and knowing that many tend to leave their shopping for the last minute, to share some tips that I think will be helpful/beneficial in making your shopping (slightly) easier.

Now, some of these may not at all be ground-breaking to you guys, but these are things that I would suggest to anyone in general that I think would be best and easiest when you’re on a time crunch of any sort for holiday shopping.

Plus, some of these things were things that I obviously used in my own personal experience(s) when I was shopping for my family and friends, and they all for the most part ended up working out relatively well.

So let’s get started!!

* * * * *

  1. Know your audience (A.K.A. the person/people you’re shopping for)!

Probably one of the most obvious things to keep in mind, because the more you know the person you’re shopping for, the easier it’ll be to pick something(s) for him or her, OR at the very least, it’ll give you an idea of where to start when you’re looking for something to get them.

2. Know how much you’re willing to spend on them.

Another fairly obvious one just because you’d be surprised at how many things/items are narrowed down when you pinpoint how much you’re willing to spend on the person. That alone can help you determine what kind of websites, stores, etc. you’ll end up shopping at, which in turn, may help you pinpoint the particular item(s) you want to get based off of what those places are most known for.

3. Invest in Amazon Prime (at least until your free trial or Christmas Shopping is all done!)

Guys Amazon Prime is literally a life-changer and life-saver. If you haven’t done or tried it before, I recommend you go on their website right this second and sign up for their 3-month free trial or whatever the deal is at the moment. You can buy whatever it is you want to buy for the person/people you’re shopping for, AND get FREE 2-DAY SHIPPING on the item(s). What’s great about that too is that, although not ALL of the items on their site will have the option for the 2-day shipping, 1. while you’re shopping, somewhere next to the items shown, it’ll say ‘amazon prime,’ as in it’s eligible for the 2- day shipping, and 2. they also tend to show you different buying options for the particular item(s) you want. Meaning, if one specific seller of the item you want doesn’t offer it for free 2-day shipping, another seller with the exact same item, might have it instead!

OR if you don’t want to go through the hassle of signing up their free trial, hit up a friend that does have it and ask if you can borrow their account. It’s not like you would be using their cards/money, because you could always input new credit/debit card information for the buying.

4. Order online and pick-up in store!

This is super easy AND convenient because almost ANY retail store usually has this option. It also just makes any sort of shopping twice as easy, because it avoids the hassle of you having to pay for shipping, as well as having to go into the physical store to find whatever it is that you’re wanting and then wait in line to have to pay for it. Sure you’ll probably have to wait on a separate line to pick the item up, but it’s still saving A TON of time compared to the alternative and more traditional shopping method.

5. Opting for gift cards!

This may be sort of cheating, and is more of a gift suggestion than anything, but I still consider it to be a great gift and tip. I say this because say you’re the type that not only tends to leave their Christmas shopping for the last minute, but ALSO have no type of idea what to get the person/people you’re shopping for….why not opt for a gift card? You can easily find out their favorite store(s), and just buy them a gift card either online or in-store and let THEM buy whatever it is they truly want/need themselves. Again, similar to buying online and picking up in-store, it allows you to avoid any of the craziness of ‘normal’ shopping, while still managing to get them a gift.

* * * * * *

Well guys, those are all of the tips and tricks that I have for you for any last minute Christmas shopping you guys may be doing throughout the next few days. As I said, I definitely did and followed a few of these things, so I hope you guys enjoyed them and found them helpful to you in some way, shape, or form.

Thank you guys so much for reading and following my posts! Please follow, like, share and comment and I’ll see you guys on Wednesday for my next Blogmas post!

Happy (Early) Halloween! πŸŽƒπŸ‘»

In lieu of Halloween being just a few short days away, I thought it would be fun to do two little Halloween tags, of This or That and Trick or Treat.

This or That

1. Chocolate candy or Fruity?: Depends what kind of fruity candy tbh, but 9 times out of 10 it’ll be chocolate.

2. Witches or Vampires?: I’m obsessed with both! 😍

3. Trick or Treat?: Treat

4. Halloween party or Scary movie?:Halloween Party!!

5. Skeletons or Zombies?: Skeletons, I don’t fuck with Zombies…

6. Trick or Treat or Hand out candy?: Trick or Treat

7. Hay ride or Corn maze?: Both sound fun, but probably corn maze. I would probably legitimately get lost though and no one would ever hear from me again lol.

5611f7e4b3980.image

8.Β Scary costume or Funny costume?: Funny/Quirky costume!

9. Pumpkin seeds or Pumpkin Pie?: Pumpkin Pie….CHEESECAKE (game-changer)!!😍

Pumpkin Cheesecake 10. Bottle feed a baby zombie or walk through a dark forest?: It’s contradicting what I said from earlier, but bottle feed a baby zombie lol.

11. Bats or Black cats?: Black cats! 😁

12. Pumpkin Spice or Hot chocolate?: Both…but mainly hot chocolate

13. Celebrate in your neighborhood or at the mall?: How about celebrate in someone ELSE’S neighborhood lol

Trick or Treat

1. Your Favorite Halloween Candy: Chocolate, it would definitely be KitKat; Candy, it would definitely be candy hamburgers lol

2. Do You Believe in Ghosts/Spirits?: I definitely do, I don’t exactly know why, but I do.

3. The Spookiest Thing That’s Ever Happened To You?: This has happened to me a few times actually where I’ll be sleeping then out of nowhere wake up a few hours later, in the middle of the night, and I’m half asleep but I’ll see this dark figure in the left corner of my room, but it’ll be like high up towards the ceiling. And I swear it looks like the shadow of a full on person. I’ll rub my eyes, and blink a bunch of times in hopes that it’ll go away, but it doesn’t; only until I literally jump out of bed to run and turn the light on will it finally go away….and then I’ll leave the light on and sleep with it like that for the remainder of the night because I’m a big baby πŸ™‚.

Image-1 (2) 4. Favorite Halloween Costume You’ve Ever Worn?: I would have to say the costumes I wore last year; my best friend and I (unknowingly) were planning on doing similar costumes in that I was gonna be a Lion Tamer and she wanted to be a lion, so we coordinated and that’s what we ended up being. We also did another costume where she was Harley Quinn and I was Minnie Mouse, but again (unknowingly) we matched red and black lol.

5. Do You Still Dress Up?: If I can, I will, but I don’t think I will be this year.

6. If You Had To Dress Up This Year, What Would You Be?: For some reason, for the past few years I always think about and REALLY want to be a Female Mario, or “A Sexy Plumber” how most costume shops refer to it, because I find it really cute, but it still has yet to happen, so probably that lol.

7. How Old Were You When You Stopped Trick Or Treating?: I want to say about 10. My parents stopped us really young because my mom didn’t care for Halloween, it made her more nervous than anything especially in the neighborhood that we live in.

8. Favorite Scary Movie: I HATE and am terrified of scary movies, so absolutely none, worst Halloween celebrator EVER lmao.

9. If You Were In A Horror Movie, How Far Do You Think You Would Get? (Five Minutes, Halfway, etc.): For sure, I would be the first one to get caught/die. Without a doubt.

10. Worst Halloween Costume You’ve Ever Had?: A FREAKIN’ WITCH. There was a good like 3-4 years straight where I kept being a witch for one reason or another, I wore the same one twice, my parents gotΒ  a new one for me…..it was just a bad time. I got sooooo sick of it that to this day I hate witch costumes.

hot chocolate 11. What’s One Unusual Thing You Are Afraid Of?: I’m afraid of a lot of dumb stuff, and I don’t know if this means unusual as in dumb or what, but I’ll say when I’m laying in bed sleeping or about to go to sleep, I’ll lay on my belly and my feet end up hanging off the bed a little, that freaks me out because I swear someone or something is going to come from the bottom and yank me by my feet.

12.Creepy Dolls or Creepy Clowns?: Creepy nothing how aboutπŸ™ƒ

13. Freddy Kruger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers or Leatherface?: Freddy -vs- Jason was the first scary movie I EVER saw when I was like 8 and it’s traumatized me ever since, so fuck you both πŸ™„. I don’t know who or wtf Leatherface is lol, so I guess Michael Myers.

14. Favorite Halloween Movie?: Ahhh such a close tie between Hocus Pocus and all the Halloweentown movies!!

15. 1-10 How Much Do You Enjoy Halloween?: I’ll say a 6 or 7, I loved the trick or treating and dressing up aspect, but I hate the stupidity that some people decide it’s okay to do/be on that day, especially in the area that I live in.

Image-1 (1) 16. Favorite Halloween Decorations: I have 4 pieces in my room that I absolutely love. I have these little fairy lights around my vanity, but each individual light is in the shape of a pumpkin, so that’s really cute. I LOVE all things Charlie Brown, so I found this snowglobe in CVS that is Halloween themed, has Snoopy dressed as a witch surrounded by pumpkins, and when you shake it, there are little bats that fly around, it’s adorable!!!! My favorite Fall candle which is Home from Bath and Body Works. And finally, this little figurine of three pumpkins stacked on top of each other, and they light up, but the light is multicolored, and changes its color every few seconds.

17. Are You Superstitious?: For some things, but not the silly ones like if you step on a crack, you’ll break your mothers back. More like the type of thing where you’re really excited about something but you shouldn’t really talk about it too much to too many people because some people have bad intentions and can mess it all up for you; or similarly, when you first have a baby (although this may only be a Hispanic superstition), you shouldn’t show too many people what the baby looks like or introduce them to too many people because again, people have bad intentions and could do brujeria or something on the baby.

18. Could you Handle Staying The Night In A Haunted Building?: No, I would probably die of a heart attack πŸ™ƒ

That’s all I’ve got for today, let me know in the comments below what your guys answers to the above questions are, I’d love to hear your responses! Also let me know future posts that you guys would like to see, always open to hearing what you guys have got to say.

Til next time,

-Xoxo, Leo Girl ❀
