My Favorite TV Shows

Hellooooooo everybody! 🙂

For today’s post I thought it would be fun to share with you guys some of my all-time favorite TV shows, especially since a couple of months ago, I did something similar but with my favorite movies (which I’ll leave linked here if you guys wanted to check it out).

Nowadays, due to the lack of free-time I end up having, I almost never get to REALLY watch and/or keep up with most TV shows, unless it’s late at night for like half hour before I go to bed.

HOWEVER, the few times I DO somehow manage to have some free-time and be able to watch TV, chances are, I’m watching one of the shows that I’m about to mention.

As always, they are not going to be in any particular order (except for the very first one I’m going to mention, and you’ll see why 😏), but I’m also going to try and give you guys a brief little description as to WHY they’re my favorite shows.

* * * * * *

So, without further adieu……here they are:

  1. Friends

Friends-together-withtitle-friends

Don’t be surprised by this one…..AT ALL. If you know me, you know that Friends is literally my ALL TIME FAVORITE SHOW!!!!!!! Nothing can beat it (I’m aware of how bold a statement that is, but it’s the truth…….don’t argue with me).

This is a show that I can literally watch every single day, several times a day, over and over again throughout the series, never get bored of it, and still always find the same jokes, phrases, etc. as funny as I did the very first time I ever watched it…which is actually interesting considering HOW quickly I tend to get bored with things usually, but whatever I’m not questioning it.

If by some miracle, you’ve never seen and/or ever heard of Friends, either go on Netflix right now and watch it from beginning to end, OR tune in to Nick @ Nite at 11pm until about 1:30am to watch a few episodes a night!!

2. Vampire Diaries

vampire-diaries-cast-750x522-1462481638

I was BEYOND obsessed with this show when it first came out. It was during the whole Twilight-Vampire obsession phase that I had, so OF COURSE I was interested in it. I mean c’mon, sexy main vampire characters, love triangles, and teen drama…who doesn’t love that?! And I was actually pretty good with keeping up with it for a long time, until like the last season or 2 when I had heard *SPOILER* that they had killed Elena off the show….then I was just pissed and said screw this because seriously, HOW DO YOU KILL THE MAIN CHARACTER OFF HER SHOW?!! I was so upset…

But recently (a few months ago or so) I decided to not only re-watch the show, but also actually watch until the end, and oh my god…my poor heart. I won’t say what happens because if you haven’t seen it, you definitely should, but wow what an emotional roller-coaster.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of how they ended the show, but overall, I really loved it and would still re-watch it if I ever had some time (which I’ve been thinking about doing again recently).

3. Total Divas/Total Bellas

I honestly forgot how exactly I got into this show, but I think it was just mainly because it was the Divas from wrestling. When I was younger, my brother and I were REALLY into wrestling, we would consistently watch it every Mondays and Thursdays whenever it would come on TV. And so when I saw and/or heard that they were coming out with a reality show for the Divas (Total Divas) from wrestling, even though I really didn’t know or ever hear of any of the ones that were on the show, I was immediately interested.

Oh, and John Cena would make occasional appearances, so there was also that, which was just an added bonus.

I think it’s a pretty good reality show, if you’re into wrestling at all (or were) and know any of the girls on the show. They also have a spin-off now called Total Bellas for the Bella twins (who were my personal favorite on Total Divas ANYWAY), so whenever I can, I really like to watch and/or catch up on what’s going on with theses shows.

4. Jersey Shore

91uVQlCdViL._RI_

I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory….lol. I mean c’mon, Jersey Shore is and I feel like always WILL be a classic. I don’t watch this show all the time, but I go through random phases every couple of months where I just feel the urge to want to watch certain episodes, and so I do, and it ends up being me re-watching the ENTIRE series.

I haven’t been able to watch and/or really keep up at all with Jersey Shore: Family Vacation as much, and I don’t think they’re actually on any of the streaming services like Netflix or Hulu, but if it was, I would definitely watch it.

5. Law & Order (SVU)

Law-Order-SVU-pinterestcom

Who doesn’t love a good crime show? Personally, I love the older seasons and episodes when Olivia and Elliot were still partners, but I’ll watch this show regardless. You get so hooked from just watching a few episodes alone, it’s hard not to want to keep watching.

I’m not actually sure if they stream that show on Netflix, Hulu, or any other streaming sites, but you can definitely always find it playing on TV at some point throughout the day.

6. Sex & The City

25

This is another show that is and will ALWAYS be a classic. If I remember correctly, I think I actually got into this show when I was in my first year of college. My roommate Abby and I would literally stay in our dorm room for hours before and after classes with food, snacks, etc. just binge watching this show ALL the time. It’s SO good.

I don’t know how I waited so long to finally see the movie, but about a year ago, I saw the first movie, and of course LOVED it. Now, I just need to see the second one even though I’m sure I’ll end up loving it as well! 😀

7. Hell’s Kitchen

HellsKitchen1-900x675

If you’re in to cooking and/or watching cooking shows and have never seen this one before, I HIGHLY recommend that you do. Gordon Ramsay is an AMAZINGLY blunt British badass, who is also an amazing chef.

Hell’s Kitchen is probably my favorite show of his to watch. It can be super intense, just because it’s a competition between a bunch of different chefs from all over the US over who ends up being the head chef at his newest restaurant and some people pass out from the pressure or have Gordon scream and curse his ass off at the competitors when they screw any/all of the dishes in the dinner services up.

I believe they stream multiple shows of his on Hulu and/or Netflix if you guys wanted to check it out.

8. Chopped

screen_shot_2014-04-07_at_11.48.53_am

Another great cooking show that I always love and find interesting to watch. I only recently somehow stumbled upon this show, but I’m glad that I did, because it’s SO great.

Similar to Hell’s Kitchen, it’s a cooking competition show, but for this show specifically there’s three rounds (appetizers, entrees and dessert). For each course the competitors are given only a handful of certain ingredients, and with that, they’re expected to come up with a dish for each course that’s going to blow the judges away. Not to mention they only have a certain, short amount of time to be able to make the dishes per round. Most of the time the winner ends up getting a prize of $10,000.

This too gets streamed on Hulu, or if you don’t have Hulu, they also give it all the time on the actual Cooking Channel.

9. Power

2560x1440

Self-explanatory, again. This show is probably the BEST crime drama series/show out right now.

I’ll wait for someone to try and argue with me about it……….

Nothing, right? Okay then, let’s continue…

This show is AMAZING and will 100% ALWAYS keep you not only on your toes, but also always wanting more. The romance, the action, it’s all so good; and if you haven’t seen it before, I definitely recommend you do before the new season comes out this summer!

The only thing I really don’t like and/or care for is the fact that it always feels like FOREVERRRRRR before the newest season comes out, although that could just be from how excited and impatient I am, but yeah….COME OUT WITH SEASONS QUICKER POWER PRODUCERS!!😤

10. Baking Championships (Holiday, Halloween, Spring, etc.)

bf86a625929ab56ae22c2cb66be818b6ed3860d8acdc1e0dda381a640c9c

So similar to cooking shows, I’m also REALLY into watching almost anything related to baking (yes, I LOVE to bake, although I don’t get to do it nearly as much as I’d like). However, out of most of the shows for baking they tend to run on the cooking channel, these Baking Championships tend to be my favorites.

They have some with kids, some with adults, and they’re all for different occasions (as shown in the picture). Out of all of them though, I would have to say that my absolute 2 favorites are the ones for Halloween and Christmas; they’re so festive and cute and SO interesting to watch the kind of stuff the contestants come up with.

11. Bones

market

Another great crime show. This is actually a show that my dad introduced me to years ago (how crazy is that to say?!). We used to watch it as a family ALL the time, every Wednesdays from 8-9pm, it was great.

This show is similar to Law & Order, except it’s much more lighthearted, meaning, there’s a lot more jokes, sarcasm, romance, etc. being thrown around ON TOP of the actual crime stuff that they show.

Fun Fact: This show was actually one of the main reasons that I entertained the idea of studying and becoming a forensic anthropologist back in high school (until my guidance counselor at the time shot and killed my dreams one day 🙃). I wanted to be just like Dr. Temperance Brennan!! haha.

12. Teen Mom

Another great drama-filled reality show. I’ve been “following” these ladies (a.k.a. just watching the show with them on it), since they were all originally on 16 & Pregnant. SO crazy how fast time flies considering all of their “babies” are pretty much grown-up now. But, I only really watch the show because of particular girls on it like all of the girls from Teen Mom 2 and only Macie and Catelynn from Teen Mom OG. I kind of find the other 2 annoying, but what do I know? Lol.

Anyway, similar to Jersey Shore and Total Divas/Bellas it’s a reality show, so there’s going to be a ton of drama, ups, downs, relationships, etc. It’s funny and interesting to somewhat keep up with peoples’ lives the way you do when you watch reality shows like this, but what can I say? I’m a sucker for a good reality show.

* * * * * *

So those were all of the shows that I tend to watch whenever I get a little bit of free-time, but I also wanted to share with you guys some shows that I actually want to START watching, but haven’t found the time to do yet, in hopes that maybe you guys can give me some feedback on them like whether or not they’re actually worth the watch. So, here they go:

  1. You

becd48b3-17b1-4320-8cfb-62ff24d609a0-you1

Never watched Gossip Girl, but heard it was extremely similar to that show, so I guess if I watch this show then I kind of have to watch the other? I know they don’t go hand-in-hand, but still. Worth the watch or over-hyped?

2. Riverdale

riverdale

Okay, so I have NO idea why, but for a long time now, I’ve had the strong urge to start watching this show. Never saw it before, never saw any trailers for it, etc., but something’s always told me to watch it for some reason, because I have a feeling I’ll REALLY like it, but I don’t know…about 2-3 months ago when I had some time on my hands and wasn’t working 2 jobs, I watched like the first 2 episodes, and wasn’t really into it.

Worth the watch or over-hyped? Does it take a little while to really get into it?

Also, fun fact: my brother and I were HUGE fans of the original Archie comics when we were kids! 🙂

3. Orange Is The New Black (Torn about this one?)

OITNB_S6_Header

I’m a little late to the party with this one, but I’ve always kind of heard mixed reviews on it. I also heard after like the 4th season, it kind of started going downhill and was nowhere near as good as it was when it first started, soooooo…….thoughts? Worth it or not so much?

4. Big Mouth

954332

And finally lol …… this show. So Chris (my brother), one day when he was home last November, had me watch the first like 5-10 minutes of this show with him, and man oh man did it not only take me off guard, but it also fucked me uppppppppppp. I was not expecting to hear the stuff that I did in the first couple of minutes. BUT, it’s actually really funny to think back on now, and I think I’d actually really like it, so what do you guys think? Yay or nay on giving this show a shot?

* * * * * *

I also thought it would be really fun to do similar posts about this for my favorite throwback TV shows from like early 2000s and late ’90s (animated and regular), and take a small trip down memory lane, because that’s always fun to do once in a while isn’t it? Let the nostalgia hit and linger for a bit….I know I always love that every once in a while.

Let me know what you guys think about that and if that would be something you’d be interested in seeing?! 🙂

Also, let me know in the comments what you thought about some of my favorite TV shows to watch. Are any of the ones I mentioned your favorites too? Do you have completely different ones? Do you guys have any good show recommendations for me to start?! Let me knowwwww! 😀

I hope you guys enjoyed this post; as always, thank you so much for reading. Please like, share, follow and comment and I’ll see you guys in my next post!

Tips For Self-Care

Hey Guys,

Yesterday started out as a pretty good day; I was feeling a lot better compared to how I was the past few days (health wise), work was fairly quiet, and I had actually gotten home at a decently early hour (which if you know me and my hectic schedule, that rarely happens nowadays). After I got home, however, things went downhill quick and unfortunately, it was one of those things that REALLY just ends up ruining your entire day altogether…..

I’m not going to get into detail about it because it’s more on the personal side and something to discuss in a later post if at all, BUT because of having a shitty end to the day, I thought it was the perfect time to put out THIS post which, as you saw from the title, is:

TIPS FOR SELF-CARE! 💆🏻‍♀️🎉

* * * * * *

Self-care is any action or activity that we do which helps us take a step back from our responsibilities for a few seconds, minutes or hours in order to care of our mental, emotional, and physical health.

It can literally be anything. Anything that helps make you feel good and rejuvenated to continue to kick-ass at work, or while doing your chores, or whatever the case is.

I thought this was the perfect time because whenever you’re in a shitty mood like I was yesterday, aside from obviously kind of wanting to just do your own thing and be left alone by everyone, don’t you to some extent end up wanting to do things that will somehow cheer you up and make you feel better? Because I know I sure do, even if it means doing them alone.

Now, everyone is obviously different and likes/prefers different things to make them happy and feel good, but I figure I can share with you guys some of the things I typically like to do when I’m down (including what I did yesterday), that usually end up bringing me out of my funk in hopes that maybe it could help you do the same now or in the future for yourself.

OR maybe you’re not in a funk at all, and maybe you just want some things to help fill up your free-time that’ll still make you happy, but also feel productive…these ‘tips’, although they’re more suggestions of things to do then actually tips, can be used for any of the above.

* * * * * *

Woman's hand writing on a notebook with a pen on a wooden desk.

  1. WRITE. Usually whenever I’m in a funk or have any free-time at all is normally when I catch up on things like my blog or book. Writing soothes me SO much and usually ends up making me feel like a new person whenever I’m done. Whether it’s in my notebook, on sticky notes or written in the notes on my phone, you’ll always catch me jotting things down whenever I get a chance. It’s soothing to be able to jot down whatever it is I may be thinking about in the moment (not every single second of the day obviously, but if I feel it’s important and that I may want to go back to it later on).

1_p_6FssCNxJeNsuHeo0HlsA

2. READ. Unfortunately, I don’t always find the time to be able to do this, but when I DO…it’s the best. I completely tune everything out and just focus on the book I’m reading; the characters, the situation going on, whatever it may be at the time, to the point where I don’t even want to sleep until I finish reading whatever it is. I find that reading is a nice way to calm your mind, especially at the end of the night, if that’s the sort of thing you’re into like I am.

How-Start-Working-Out-Home

3. WORKING OUT. Going to the gym and working out can be so unbelievably therapeutic for a person’s mind, body and soul (believe it or not). If you’re reading this and you’re not into working out at all, I can see why you would probably roll your eyes at this one, because it’s so cliché for someone to say, but I promise it’s also 100% true (if you’re into the workout at the time anyway). It’s a great stress-reliever after a long day to just go ahead and release all of your pent up frustration, aggression, or whatever the case may be for you and just take it ALL out on the weights.

1453252591-skincare-woman

4. A SKINCARE ROUTINE. Another cliché and typical suggestion to make, because it’s something that everyone always suggests, but it really is another good one and actually the one I opted to do last night. Doing a skincare routine whether elaborate or basic is so soothing and will for sure make you feel good by the end of it (to some extent anyway). I mean, who doesn’t want smooth, clear and radiant skin right? After all, it is the first thing you see of yourself, as well as the first thing others end up seeing of you, so why not make it good?

Studio nail beautician polishing female nails

5. And finally, GETTING A MANI/PEDI. Again, another cliché suggestion, but any sort of pampering that you do for yourself whether this, a skincare routine, a haircut, etc. is sure to make you feel rejuvenated and good about yourself in some way, shape or form. I mean who doesn’t love to feel and actually get pampered, right?!

* * * * * *

Well that’s it guys…these are things that usually tend to make me feel happy, good about myself, and productive.

Obviously there are probably a ton more, different from this list, that you would be able to think of, but the ones that I mentioned are the ones that are generally all, if not, MOST of the things I tend to gear towards whenever I’m in a funk or just looking to do some ‘me-time’ stuff.

Self-care is a form of self-love, and if you’re anything like me and tend to be super busy and on-the-go all the time, you should try to make time for it AT LEAST once or twice a week.

It really is important and needed in order for you to reflect, release, relax and rejuvenate to carry on with the rest of your week and/or start your week even.

I hope that you guys enjoyed this post, and that it helped you in some way, shape or form. As always, thank you so much for reading, please like, comment, share and follow and I’ll see you guys in the next one!

Best Restaurants To Take Your Significant Other Out For Valentine’s Day (in NYC)

In light of Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, I thought it would be nice to share with you guys some of my suggestions for what I think are some of the best, romantic looking places in NYC to take your significant other for that special day.

And regardless of whether you’ll be celebrating it on the day of, or waiting until the weekend to do something, I think the suggestions I’m going to mention in a moment are nonetheless cute places to go to for a date night sort of thing with your significant other.

* * * * * *

Side Note: If the types of foods served at the restaurants I’m going to mention all are similar and/or the same, that’s completely coincidental. When Diego and I go out and find these places, we’re not actually looking for any sort of particularly cultured food, it just so happens that a lot of them tend to be similar.

Now, in no particular order, here are my recommendations:

  1. Almond Restaurant

IMG_1769

Location: East 22nd street, near Madison Square Park.

Type of food served: Bistro, French comfort food.

Ambience: Rustic, dim lit and comfortable feel.

Diego and I had come here for a date night of ours, without actually having it in mind to dine at. We kind of just stumbled upon it one night when our original dinner plans fell through, BUT, I’m kind of glad we ended up here. It was super cozy, good food and not that expensive either. Service was good, and it definitely had a romantic feel to it with the dim lighting and candles on the tables.

2. Haven Rooftop

o (1)

Location: West 47th Street, on the rooftop of the Sanctuary Hotel, near Times Square.

Type of Food Served: French influenced dishes.

Ambience: Cabana styled, glassed-in rooftop spot.

I actually took Diego here for the first birthday that I had spent with him when we got together. He had mentioned to me that he really wanted to celebrate his birthday on some sort of rooftop, and since I know he’s not necessarily the party type, I did my research, found this spot and figured why not take him to a late lunch/early dinner at this popular rooftop spot?

The food was really good, and since they were just switching over from lunch to dinner, we ended up being some of the first guests here and had the place to ourself. And although I remember it being a fairly gloomy day when we came, the views from the top were still really great. Diego’s birthday is in April, so it was still pretty cool outside, but it’s closed in by glass, so it was still comfortable.

006-20171208-WillCadena.com-Rooftop-shoot-1024x685

3. Molo’s Restaurant

o

Location: Weehawken, New Jersey. Definitely on the far side compared to all the other places I’m mentioning, but 100% worth the trip if you decide to come here.

Type of Food Served: Mediterranean eatery, specializing in seafood.

Ambience: Modern, upscale riverfront with an AMAZING view of the city.

Probably one of the, if not THE most beautiful and romantic ones I can recommend. I brought Diego here for his birthday 2 years ago and it legit left an imprint on us…I don’t typically care for seafood, but I know that he does, so I figure why not?

It was about an hour and a half drive but generally it was nice to be able to listen to music and talk. And the location itself was stunning. I remember we had arrived about half hour early, so we got to walk along this boardwalk type thing and take pictures, which was really nice. And then when we finally got to be seated, we managed to get a seat right by the window which was absolutely beautiful to see the view of the city, especially since it was late afternoon and we got to watch the sunset from inside.

The servers were super nice, quick and helpful and the food was good. Although I should mention that this is more on the pricier side, but regardless think it was 100% worth every penny. If you can, I definitely recommend checking this place out.

4. And finally, Serra by Birreria

o (2)

Location: this is another rooftop location atop Eataly in the Flatiron district, right near Madison Square Park.

Type of Food Served: Italian cuisine, house brewed ales and high-end imported beer.

Ambience: At the moment it’s sort of like a themed pop-up restaurant, in that, it’s supposed to make you feel like you’re taking a trip to the Italian Alps, while also being in a Winter Wonderland sort of feel.

I suppose this is kind of cheating to some extent, because we haven’t actually tried this place just yet (we’re supposed to be going next Monday). BUT,  I found this place online and read some pretty great reviews on it. It’s apparently a pretty popular place. It seems to have some pretty good food options, and personally, I think it looks to be a pretty romantic and/or comfortable setting regardless of whether you go with a significant other or friends. I can’t wait to be able to check it out next week and actually give you guys my full opinion on it!! (Stay tuned for that 😉 )

* * * * * *

I could literally probably go on FOREVER giving you guys suggestions of restaurants Diego and I have gone to and loved, but I think (thus far) these 4 are probably the most romantic-feeling ones that I can recommend with Valentine’s Day approaching.

*Also, all of these places take reservations, and they’re all available on OpenTable to be able to do that if you’re interested.*

I really hope you guys enjoyed this post, and that it helped you in some way, shape or form, whether you’re celebrating it on the day of, or just looking for some nice new restaurants to try out.

Also, I’m really sorry that things like this are subjected to the New York area only, but it is where I’m from and that’s all that I REALLY know.

Once I begin to travel a little more soon, I’ll be able to suggest more to you guys for things and places outside of New York.

But nonetheless, as I said, I hope you enjoyed. Please like, share, comment and follow and I’ll see you guys in my next post! ❤
