Recap Of Christmas Weekend

Andddddd we’re back to regularly scheduled programming :/

Who else is bummed that Christmas is officially over?! Because I know I definitely am 😦 . But, at the same time, I’m actually really happy because I had a REALLY great and memorable weekend (unexpectedly at that).

I ALWAYS look forward to Christmas-time, as I’ve mentioned several times before in other posts, but I also don’t ever expect much just because it’s always relatively quiet in my house, and we (my immediate family) always end up staying home and just being with each other.

THIS YEAR, however, was completely different (in a great way). I say that because this year we got to spend it with extended family, something that we haven’t done for one reason or another in YEARS.

Now don’t get me wrong, just spending it with my immediate family for the past few years was always nice too and comfortable, but it really is always a great time when we get together with our extended family too.

* * * * * *

Family Time!

So, this year we were able to spend Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day with my mom’s side of the family. Christmas Eve we hosted at our house, which was Christmas Pajama themed, and Christmas Day we spent at my Godfather and aunt’s house, which was Christmas Slipper themed.

Both were ridiculously fun, filled with Christmas music, laughter, gift giving, games, karaoke and an overwhelming amount of food and desserts (not complaining about that though lol).

When we (the cousins) were all younger, it would be like our little Christmas tradition to always get together and spend Christmas at SOMEONE’S house from the family. So the fact that for a while there it had stopped was kind of sad, but I’m SO glad we finally got to pick up on it because it was definitely a blast.

*Also, if you read my ‘The Christmas Tag’ post from Blogmas day 1 (which I’ll leave linked here if you want to check it out), you would’ve seen that my top “Christmas wish” was to be able to have this happen, so the fact that it actually DID was really awesome for me.*

Overall, it was a really great weekend, and although it wasn’t my ENTIRE family there with us (from both sides), and some important people were missing, it was still fun and extremely memorable.

Plus, I got a ton of great stuff this Christmas, which was another surprising thing because I really don’t ever tend to tell people things I want for Christmas and/or give them a wishlist anymore. But, let’s get into a few of the things I got….

* * * * * *

Firstly, I just want to start off by saying that I’m not usually the type to show off every single thing I get for my birthday, Christmas, etc., I just find it kind of weird and also tend to feel bad.

Sure, I’m grateful for everything I get, and I’ll show one or 2 things that I really love, but overall I just end up feeling bad about it because I never want to make it seem like I’m throwing things in peoples faces. What if they can’t afford things like that? Or what if they don’t usually get things for these occasions at all? Just a few of the things that go through my mind for things like this…

However, I’ve come to realize that doing what I’m doing now (blogging) and how into it I’ve gotten, it’s kind of a necessity to do that. Not necessarily show off the things I have, wear, etc., but to the same extent, that’s kind of exactly what it is, which is why more and more recently I’ve been sharing things like that with you guys.

So that’s what I’m going to be doing right now, sharing with you guys a few of the great gifts I received from my loved ones this year 🙂

  1. The first few things I want to mention are actually stuff that Diego got for me. We’re actually really weird when it comes to gift giving, because we get so excited about doing it and what we got the other person that we end up talking about it ALL the time (without actually saying what it is), and have the anticipation kill the other person lol. This year he got me this GORGEOUS Coach bag (which he knew I needed because although I almost never switch out my bag(s) once I get used to them, it was LONG overdue for a new one) and 2 masks from the brand GlamGlow because he knows I LOVE face masks. ❤
Gifts from Diego ❤

2. These aren’t all of them, but they are a few of the gifts that I received from my parents. I’ve never heard of the brand that blue bag is from, but it’s called Karl Lagerfeld Paris and I think it’s SO cute. Tiny, but definitely fashionable and can hold quite a few of my little things that I typically tend to carry in my purses. Then you have these UGG rain/snow boots which are great too because I’ve been DYING for a pair of boots like this for the longest, and what better then a simple black pair? Then you have this Miss Dior perfume that I’ve been wanting because it smells SO pretty AND……it’s Demi’s favorite perfume ….are you surprised? You shouldn’t be….And finally, you have this cute little Christmas story book. If you guys haven’t realized by now, I’m a bigass kid, ESPECIALLY when it comes to cute little things like this, I mean c’mon….LOOK AT IT!!!!! 😭😍 Plus, I cannot WAIT until I have kids one day to read these to them, and even pass them along to them…ugh it’s going to be the best!! (Again, just a few of the things they got me, not all).

(Some) Gifts from my parents ❤

3. This is a gift I actually got from a good friend of mine and Diego’s named Geno. How freakin’ dope are these?! I’ve come to REALLY love this brand and it’s style. So far, I have a t-shirt from them (courtesy of Diego), another pair of sneakers although they’re off-white (also courtesy of Diego), and now these!! Can’t wait to take some cool pictures with these on and show them to you guys! 😀

Gift from my friend Geno 😀

4. And finally……the gifts I received from my brother and his fiance!! You guys, I was so damn excited when I saw this….lol. For those of you that don’t know, I’m a HUGE Potterhead, so this was ridiculously exciting for me!! It’s actually pretty funny, because about a month ago, I had told Chris (my brother), that if no one got me a wand for Christmas…everyone hated me, and he/they actually remembered and did it!! 😂. Plus, the books are always great to read (especially now with the illustrations to back them up), and I love penguins AND fuzzy socks, so it was a general win/win for me. Thanks guys!! ❤

Gifts from my brother and his fiancée ❤

* * * * * *

I hope that you guys not only enjoyed this post, but also had an AMAZING Christmas with your family, friends and/or general loved ones, and that you got everything you wanted.

Please follow, like, share and comment and I’ll see you guys in my next post!

Holiday Gift Guide 2017

Hey Guys!!

I’m sooooo excited about finally doing today’s post. Like SO excited lol.

If you’re anything like me, than the holidays (i.e., Christmas time) are a HUGE deal for you. The food, the music, all the decorations everywhere (especially if you’re from New York), and just the feeling in general, is so warm and giddy. It’s also an exciting time because of all the gifts, not because of receiving gifts, but being able to give them.

If you know me, you know that I love to go all out for the people I love’s Christmas gifts (more so than I probably should sometimes, some people would say), but that’s just how I am. I prefer to give and see the people I love happy with what I’ve given them as opposed to getting anything at all. I don’t know, I guess I just feel like I’m at an age where I don’t want or need people to buy me things, even for Christmas, and if I do want anything, I could just buy it myself. So, because of this, I like to go all out on others gifts.

Which is what lead me to wanting to do this post. Although I like to go all out for people, I know how difficult it can be to shop for certain people. So, I figure I put together this little gift guide with some ideas/suggestions to try helping you guys out a bit if you needed it. This also isn’t just directed towards females by any means, I’m going to try and diversify this as much as possible so that there will a little of everything for everyone here.

Just as a general side note, I think that when it comes to buying gifts for people, ANYONE, whether friends, family, significant others, etc., if the person is loving and appreciative for pretty much anything and everything, then there should be no issue shopping for them. A gift is a gift, and at the end of the day, it’s the thought that counts more than anything, and that goes for anyone.

I also think it comes down to knowing the person you’re getting the gift for, and if you do, it’ll make things a lot easier even if you don’t EXACTLY know what to get them, you can start with the little things you know they’re interested in and build from there.

Now, enough with the chit-chat and let’s get to the gift guide itself….

I’m not really arranging this by price, I’m doing it more of by particular stores/categories, then within those, I’ll mention specific things that I think would make good gifts for people (though in no particular order).

That being said, I am going to start off with girls because I am one obviously, and think they’re the easiest to shop for in spite of what others might say/think about it.

*PSA: some of these things that I suggest may be on the pricey side, but just remember at the end of the day, these are just suggestions. You obviously don’t have to get EXACTLY what’s mentioned, there may be and probably are, cheaper alternatives of the exact same things that I’m suggesting, dupes, that are just as good if not better.*

  1. Victoria Secret

People can literally never do wrong by shopping for a girl at Victoria Secret unless she REALLY could care less about that store. There are a TON of options to choose from in this store alone.

  • Cute/Sexy panties: they’re usually 5 for like $28, but sometimes (like recently) they were doing a sale of them 7 for $28, and you can mix and match with most of them. (yes something like that would probably be for like significant others to buy, some may think, but who cares honestly).
  • Cute pjs!: They have sooooooo many cute pajama options here! From sexy, seductive ones, to genuinely cute, comfortable pj sets; most of which range between $30-50.

*Plus, most times during the holidays, when you spend over a certain amount of money, you get certain free things. For example: last year my boyfriend bought me a ton of stuff from VS for Christmas, and ended up getting this SUPER soft, comfy blanket for free. Another example is like 2 weeks ago, I went and bought a pj set, along with going for the 7 for $28 deal in panties, and got a free pair of slippers with my purchase! Granted, sometimes it’ll be a lot of money they’ll say you have to spend to get these things, but other times it’ll be like spend over $50 and get a free tote bag or something, the point is they give free stuff sometimes with your purchase, so try going for them!*

2. Bath & Body Works

Another great place for getting gifts for girls, young or old. (And for certain things there, Bath & Body Works could also be a place to buy great gifts for guys as well). A great thing about this store is their amazing sales that they do all throughout the year, and pretty frequently too.

  • Candles: Candles are an amazing gift for both males and females, and what better place to get them at than Bath & Body Works? They have a humongous variety of candles from mini ones, to medium sized ones, to their illustrious 3-wick candles. They really have them all. And their scent selections are just as big, especially now for the holidays. Their mini candles typically range for about $5. The single-wick, medium sized candles typically go for about $14.50 each. And the large 3-wick candles tend to go for between $22.50-$24.50, which is kind of pricey, but hey they do tend to last for a very long time and I think they’re worth the buy. Plus, Bath & Body Works tends to frequently do sales on their candles, like right now, they’re doing a sale for the medium candles, get 2 for $16 (and also mix and match with them). Sometimes they’ll do sales 2 for $24 on the large 3-wick candles, and sometimes they’ll also do those large candles for $12.50 each. Candles
  • Wallflowers: If you don’t want to buy them a candle for one reason or another, but know that they love nice scents, a great alternative to candles would be wallflowers. These are the pluggable scents, which is cool because the same scents they have for candles, they tend to make for the wallflowers as well. All wallflowers here retail for $6.50, but at the moment, they’re doing a sale for them, 5 for $23 which is a GREAT buy. Wallflowers
  • Body lotions: If she likes to not only smell good but ALWAYS be nice and moisturized, their body lotions would also make a great gift. Their body lotions go for about $12.50 individually, but right now their doing a sale where if you buy 3 of them, you can get any 2 free! Can’t go wrong with that!! Body Lotion
  • And finally, Hand Soaps: They’re hand soaps, aside from the candles, are some of my favorite products from their store! Some of them smell sooooooo good, the scent lingers on your hands for a really long time after the first time use, and they actually moisturize and hydrate the hands REALLY well. Individually the hand soaps go for $6.50, but right now they’re doing a sale where you can buy 6 of them for $25, or 4 for $20. Hand Soaps

3. Clothes

If you know her sizes for things, clothes are always a good, fun way to go for a gift for women. Especially if you know her favorite stores and how exactly her style is, you can’t go wrong in this department; even more so during this time of year and if you or her live in a place like New York where Winters can get intense. Sweaters are always a great gift for girls, so are leggings, and winter accessories like hats, scarves and gloves. Personally, I love to get my sweaters from Charlotte Russe and Express, they have such cute options here for them. For leggings I would suggest the store Garage, they can be a bit pricey but they’re leggings really do last such a long time, and there’s always sales on them. They’re almost always doing their buy one get one 50% off deal on them. All these stores also have really cute winter accessories (those stores are just to name a few obviously).

4. Lush Cosmetics

Lush is similar to Bath & Body Works, in that pretty much all of the products they sell are for body care. They’re products are all amazing, and I think what makes them better is that they’re all hand-made, and made with all-natural products.

  • Face masks: Face masks are an amazing gift for any male or female, especially if they’re in to skin care. At Lush, with $40 you could get about 2-3 masks for them. Masks at Lush typically range between $9.95-14.95.
  • BATH BOMBS: Bath bombs from Lush are probably some of the BEST products to ever buy as a gift for a girl or anyone really, because let’s get real…who doesn’t love a nice, relaxing bath? And this is probably the most perfect place to ever buy them. The selection is HUGE, the purposes within each bath bomb is amazing, and they really are so nice and relaxing to use. They’re so cute and creative. Each bath bomb ranges in size and price, they could go anywhere from $3.95-8.95.
  • Gift Sets: They sell a lot of cool gift sets for about $30, which could include a little bit of everything I just mentioned, and then some. There are ones that include a bath bomb or 2, some soaps, shower gel, etc. They’re all different, and have cute little themes attached to each of them.

5. Makeup

If you know your girlfriend, daughter, sister, etc. loves makeup, then you definitely can’t go wrong here. And I know it may seem hard because there’s so many brands and types of products and it may seem like she has everything already, but that’s okay!! You can always attempt to ask someone close to her that would know the type of makeup she owns and go from there!

If you go on the Ulta and/or Sephora website, they have a tab solely devoted to gift sets, and what’s even better is they have them broken down into price ranges from cheapest to the most expensive and vice versa. I think Sephora’s gift sets are actually my favorites though, because some of them are sets just for different brands of lipsticks, some for highlighters, some for mascaras, and even some for perfumes. I think what’s really cool about these sets is how they combine a bunch of different brands for that product. A lot of the gift sets vary between $20-60, depending on which ones in particular you go for obviously.

6. Pandora Charm Bracelets

This is one of those gifts that’s more on the pricey side, so it could be considered one that you get maybe a serious girlfriend, a best friend, sister or even mother. I got my mom one of these last year for her Christmas/Birthday gift and it’s cute because after you get the bracelet you can just add as  many cute charms as you want, or keep it simple with one or two special charms on it.

It really depends on which bracelet you get in particular, but they can range anywhere from $50 to $100 or so. I think the one I got my mom was a sterling silver one with a pandora rose heart clasp, which came out to about $80.

The different types of charms they have are really adorable as well, for different occasions, characters, zodiac signs, holidays, etc. All of the charms range from about $20 to over $100, again, depending on the specific type(s) you get.

7. Fujifilm Instax Mini Instant Camera

I really think this would make an amazing gift for anyone, male or female. It’s cute, kind of old-school and a fun way to take pictures and have little keepsake photos in the matter of like 5 minutes!!

On Amazon you could get one of these in pretty much any color for about $70.

There are different types of film you could buy in the sense of how the pictures print out, like an all-white border, a multi-colored one, or a patterned one. Film can obviously get a bit pricey, especially if you buy the boxes individually. One twin box roughly comes out to be about $14.88 on Amazon, and gets you 10 pictures per film (so 20 altogether). So what I normally try to do is go for the value packs that Amazon also sells; they’re more expensive but I think they’re worth it. For $45.99 you can get 3 twin packs, which come with 2 in each box, and will get you a total of 60 pictures. Now it depends on the person and how often or not they end up using this, but I think this will last anyone a pretty large amount of time to get through, so they should be good for a while.

8. Gift Cards

People say that gift cards are impersonal, and maybe to an extent I can see how they are, but at the same time, who cares? If you’re really struggling to buy something for someone because they’re super picky or their style/interests are a a bit all over the place, go for a gift card!!! Get them a gift card to their favorite store, theater, restaurant, etc. Sometimes I’d rather do that and know they’ll get something they really want and love then me just guessing and getting them something they’ll probably never wear or use. Gifts cards obviously could be for anyone, and also, they can either be used as gifts or stocking stuffers!

9. Shoes

A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes, whether cute, comfortable, or realistic because of the Wintery weather around this time of year (especially if you live in New York).

My top two recommendations for this time of year that would make perfect gifts for girls are:

  • Uggs– because who doesn’t love to have their feet ridiculously warm and comfortable throughout the crazy cold times that come with Winter? Especially with all the different types of styles and colors they have. From the regular type of uggs styles to their cute little moccasins, what girl wouldn’t love a pair of these? Obviously depending on the type of style you get them would depend on how much you pay for them, but they range anywhere from about $100 to over $300.
  • Hunter Boots- These are a great pair of boots for not only the rain, but also for the snow and slush. They’re great quality, heavy duty, and definitely a go-to when it comes to crappy weather like I just mentioned. They range from about $110 to over $150 on the Hunter Boot’s website. .

* * * * * * * *

Shopping for guys is always the most tough for me personally. But mainly like shopping for my boyfriend; when it comes to my dad and brother its a lot easier for some reason. I’ve been with my boyfriend for 3-years now, and every year I struggle to an extent with shopping for him. I know he’ll love anything I get him, but it’s just difficult every year for some reason. So I get how/why other people might find it difficult to shop for guys his age too. That being said, I asked him to help me out with this portion and give me his opinion on what he thinks would make good gifts for guys.

  1. Clothes

Clothes are probably one of the easiest options for girls to go with for guys. So long as you know their styles and sizes obviously, you can’t go wrong here. Some stores in particular Diego recommended that would be good for this are Uniqlo, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Century 21, and Barney’s. Plus, these stores are great and notorious for throwing sales this time of year. And, if your boyfriend, brother, or friend is the type that likes designer clothes, a lot of these stores are perfect for that as well because they’re department stores that carry a TON of well-known designer clothes, for cheaper prices than what they may originally be.

Some clothes in particular that you really can’t go wrong with getting them:

  • T-shirts
  • Sweaters
  • Button-down shirts
  • Slacks
  • Jeans
  • Sweat pants

(To name a few).

2. Cologne

Ladies, another immediate possible go-to gift is cologne. There’s nothing more attractive than a guy that smells good!! More so when you can pick the scent that you think would be perfect for that guy. Personally, one of the things I love most and drives me insane (in a good way) is when my boyfriend wears cologne. With the right outfit, and perfect cologne, ugh SO SEXY.

Believe it or not, Sephora and Victoria Secret are 2 really great places to buy good cologne for guys. Sephora, just like with the makeup portion I mentioned earlier, does great gift set samplers for guys which is something that goes for about $65, and has 12 different samples of cologne from a bunch of different designer brands, so there’s a huge variety in that one set. Sephora Cologne Gift Set . One of my personal favorite colognes that Diego will wear a lot that smells AMAZING is Victoria Secret Very Sexy For Him cologne. There is something about the scent that lingers and drives me crazy whenever he wears it. This cologne retails for about $55 in store. Very Sexy For Him Cologne .

3. Sneakers/Shoes

What guy doesn’t love sneakers? Even if they don’t consider themselves “sneaker-heads,” this is definitely top 3 perfect gifts for a guy. A guy can never have too many sneakers, just as girls can never have too many pairs of shoes.

(This portion is completely up Diego’s alley, so he recommended every single thing I’m going to mention)

The sneakers I’m going to mention are some that Diego suggests based on comfort and style. Although keep in mind, many of these options are going to be a bit on the pricey side, so again, this may be one of those gifts that you get a boyfriend, brother, or best friend maybe. There are three options in particular that he loves and recommends the most.

  • Adidas Ultra Boost Running Shoes and Adidas NMD_R1 Primeknit Shoes– They are two different types of sneakers, but have very similar concepts to them in the way they were created, their styles, and how they feel on. They have extremely similar designs to them, and they both pretty much feel the same when wearing them. The amount of comfort you feel when they’re on is amazing, it’s literally like you’re walking on clouds. If you’re looking for a sneaker that is both stylish and comfortable, this would be ideal for that. Not to mention there are a huge variety of styles and colors that these come in. Both these sneakers range between $170 and $180. Adidas NMDs , Adidas Ultra Boosts
  • Nike Flyknits– These sneakers are really good because they have this durable flyknit material around the shoe that doesn’t make it feel too lose or fragile to wear and because of that, the sneakers are super comfortable. It’s a pair of sneakers that doesn’t make you feel like your toes are pressed together or uncomfortably forces your foot to stay molded into the shoe for the whole day. These retail for about $150 depending on where you get them in particular.

4. Hair Products

If the guy your buying for is the type that really likes and cares about his hair, then you’ll be golden buying him some type of hair product. Of course it would depend on how exactly they take care of their hair and what kind of products in particular they tend to use, but if and when you know that, it’ll be easy to find something for him.

One big recommendation I have for this is shopping at Birchbox, this is a great place for buying things like that. They’re selection is HUGE and they have products for all types of styles and hair types. Birchbox Men Hair Products .

What’s even better is that at this store, if you see something you may think would be good for the guy you’re buying for, but not completely sure if he’ll like it, there are 2 possible options for that; 1. They allow you to take samples of the product to try out and see if you like it, so you could get a sample for the guy, see if he likes it, and if he does go back and buy him the full-sized product, or 2. buy the full-sized product for him, and if at any time he realizes he doesn’t like it, you can bring it back (almost whenever) and they’ll take it back and let you exchange it for something else you may want.

5. Headphones

Although this is obviously something that isn’t particular to guys, I think this would make a great gift for them or anyone really. You can never go wrong with buying someone a great pair of headphones. This is something that would ALWAYS make a great gift for anyone.

Two great recommendations I have for this (although they both are pretty pricey) would be:

  • Apple AirPods which retail for about $159 AirPods
  • Powerbeats3 Wireless headphones which retail between $130 and $160 depending on where exactly you get them from. Powerbeats3 Wireless

Little side-note: Both of these headphones are also really great and come in handy if the person you’re buying them for just so happens to workout a lot.

* * * * * * * *

Stocking Stuffers:

  1. Nail Polishes: If your girl is the type that loves taking care of her nails and collecting nail polishes, then this is definitely something that would make a great and cute stocking stuffer for her. KL Polish , has a great selection of colors, each individual polish goes for $8.50 on their website. Essie is another great nail polish brand, , that has great quality polishes and a HUGE range of colors; each of which retails for $8.50 as well. And finally, OPI, . There are other nail polish brands out there obviously, but these are definitely my top 3 that I recommend.
  2. Cute, Fuzzy Socks: Honestly, I feel like cute, fuzzy socks would make perfect gifts and stocking stuffers for anyone. Target is doing this thing now where they’re selling sets of 12 socks in all different kinds of colors, patterns, themes, etc. for the 12 days of Christmas and its the cutest thing!! There are winter/Christmas themes, Disney theme, etc. , even though the link and page itself may say for women, I think they could definitely be seen as unisex.

Then there are places like Burlington and Kohl’s who are selling super cute and comfy slipper socks for like $15 each.

3. Lottery Tickets (Scratch-off ones): I know this one may look or seem a little weird, but these are cool little stocking stuffers for people. Sure it’s like gambling, but it’s a fun, easy way to help other people get a few extra bucks in cash (sometimes). With $5, you can get someone 5 scratch offs and they could possibly even win double that. When my brother and I were younger (and even now sometimes), my parents would get us a few of them and slip them into our stockings. Nothing crazy, just the $1 or $2 ones, and if we won, we won, if we didn’t that was fine too, it was always fun for us to do on Christmas Eve.

4. Candy: If you know someone’s favorite candy, go to Target and/or Walmart and try finding their favorite candy in a little pack or box. This makes for a great stocking stuffer for anyone really, whether they’re a sweet, sour or chocolate person, who doesn’t love a little sugar on Christmas?

* * * * * * * *

Well, that’s pretty much all I’ve got for you guys and this post. I really hope you enjoyed it and that it helped some of you guys out in some type of way.

I also hope that everyone enjoys and has a great holiday with their family, friends, significant others, or whoever it is you guys will be with. Merry Christmas and enjoy! ❤

The Key To Success Is Skin Care

Hey guys!

As you can probably assume from the cover photo on this, today’s post is going to be all about skin care. I figure it’s about time to branch out a little and start touching upon the other kind of topics I’ve been wanting to cover for a while like things that are beauty related, so that’s exactly what I’m doing today.

As always, I’m basing my thoughts on my personal experiences and skin type, as well as my personal favorites to use to care for my skin. At the end of reading this post if you guys have any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions for me to try, by all means please leave them down below and I will be sure to check them out.

* * * * * *

My Personal Skin History

The way my body in general and skin works is very odd, because both as a whole are EXTREMELY sensitive. Like I have to be ridiculously careful with pretty much anything I touch or put on my face and body, because if I’m not, I’ll most likely end up getting a really bad allergic reaction. I can’t even tell you guys how many times in the past I had to learn that the hard way. Luckily, however, when it comes to my face, ASIDE from my eyes, I’m pretty much in the clear when it comes to me trying/using lotions, masks or anything to that degree.

I’ve actually gotten pretty lucky when it comes to my skin. I get my occasional break out here and there, but it’s never been really crazy or bad like I know some people have.

*She says thankfully and not at all in a conceited way*

Like my brother for instance (no shade towards him at all), all throughout his high school years really struggled with acne. He got it bad, and because of that him and my mom tried every trick in the book to help clear it up; creams, Clearasil, Proactiv…you name it, he probably tried it. I, however, didn’t ever really have to deal with that. I mean I would get really frustrated and annoyed if I got just ONE pimple, but I tend to overreact sometimes.

It’s actually ironic that I never dealt with really bad acne or anything, because when I was younger I NEVER used to really care about my skin at all or taking care of it. And I really should have because although I never had to deal with acne, I’ve always struggled with having extremely dry skin. I hated it, it was the worse.

b1d0976b05285bd19d9011c9652db394--quotes-about-skincareNow, however, things have changed a lot obviously. Recently, (and when I say recently I predominantly mean within the past year or so more or less), I’ve become obsessed with skincare. Everyday, morning and night, I make sure to do stuff to take care of my skin. I’m 22 now, and to this day I still struggle with my dry skin, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it once was.

Today, I seem to have more combination than either one or the other. For those of you who don’t know what that means, that means that I tend to get dry skin and have oily skin as well. So whenever I buy particular skincare products or even makeup products, that’s something to look for in particular to help with it. Or, if you have one or the other instead of both, most stores, drug stores, etc., tend to sell products for one or the other, or both if you need it. Now that Winter is approaching, it’s something I have to be slightly MORE mindful about than usual because that’s when my dry skin tends to come out to play the most. It’s really frustrating and annoying, but it is what it is I guess.

Lotions, Washes, and Masks…OH MY!

Following my little skincare routine everyday has honestly become one of my favorite things to do day in and out. I have a few products in particular that I’m going to mention that I tend to use the most on a day to day basis, some of my products, new products I’m beginning to use, etc.

Personally, I’m not big on washing my face in the morning unless for one reason or another I didn’t get the chance to do it the night before. In the morning all I typically do is rinse my face off with water. I try my best to make sure I dab/pat my face when drying it off instead of scrubbing it with a towel, but I do slip up sometimes, and find that it doesn’t typically tend to affect my skin in any negative way. But at night, whether it’s in the shower or just right before bed, I tend to use a face wash on my skin. I have two face washes in particular that I always use, but I never use them both in one wash, I’ll use one or the other depending on how my face feels throughout the day.

If I feel like my face has not at all cooperated throughout the day, it’s super oily and/or dry and it needs a really good/deep washing, I tend to use this to wash my face:

Noxzema Classic Clean Moisturizing Cleansing Cream. This thing is freaking amazing for real. It’s such a deep soothing cleanse for your face. It smells like a mixture of Vicks and pure Mint. Personally, when I use this to wash my face I literally feel it sink into my skin, and it feels like such a cooling sensation. Like I said, whenever my skin is having a rough day with dryness and oiliness, I use this and as soon as I do, it’s as good as new. Clean, smooth and ready to conquer the world. I typically get this whenever I go to Walmart, but I know Target sells this too, and I’m sure other drugstores like Rite Aid and Walgreens sell it as well. The consistency of it I really don’t even know how to explain, it’s almost like thick and blocky sort of (I know that sounds weird) when you first take some out of the container, but once you rub your hands together and put it on your face, as I said it just melts right into the skin.

Now, for those days that I still need to wash my face obviously, but not as intensely or deeply, I’ll go for something that’s much more light, but still gets the job done and I love just as equally. Which is this:

Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser. This pretty much does the same thing as the Noxzema just to somewhat of a lesser degree, meaning it’s not so much of a DEEP cleanser like the other one is, but it still does just as good a job. It still manages to clean and keep my skin smooth. With the Noxzema face wash a little bit goes a long way, it could be the same way with this one, but personally, I like to use a lot of this to feel as though it worked thoroughly for me. Reading it off the bottle, the consistency of this is foamy obviously, but it’s nice and lightweight, nothing too thick or heavy. Again, another one of my favorites. This just like the Noxzema one, I buy in either Walmart or Target, and I know for a fact other drug stores sell this as well.

There are two moisturizers in particular that I use, one more than the other. There’s one that I pretty much use everyday, and have been for about a year or two now. And there’s one that I just recently bought a few weeks ago that I’ve really been liking lately too. The first one is:

Dermasil Dry Skin Treatment Original Lotion. I use this every single day, once in the morning and once at night before bed after I’ve washed my face. This is also the one moisturizer that I use all the time before applying my primer and makeup. I especially like it because of how much it helps with my dryness; this is the perfect thing for me to use in the Winter time when my dry skin tends to get the best of me. If I had to give one downside or complaint to this it would be that personally, without wearing makeup or anything, just having this lotion on my face, by the end of the day my face looks and feels like a huge grease ball. It’s kind of annoying, but the ultimate overall purpose of the lotion does what it’s supposed to so that’s all that TRULY matters to me.

The other moisturizer I’ve been using more of lately is:

The E.L.F. Natural Glow Lotion. As far as I know, this is a fairly new product to the E.L.F. family. First and foremost I just want to say that I love how much E.L.F. is expanding their skincare line, and a lot of the products are SO good, for such affordable prices. I think I bought this in the store for like $3 or $5. Even if it may be tiny, it’s good quality and super cheaper, so the size of it really doesn’t matter to me much. It’s supposed to be a luminous lotion. At first glance when I put it in my hands it looks kind of glittery, so that worried me a bit, but then actually using it, it sunk into my skin and you barely see the “glitters” in it if you want to even actually consider them glitter. It leaves your face looking kind of shiny, but in a nice glow way, not like you’re an oily mess. The consistency of it is also nice and lightweight. I actually purchased this in the E.L.F. store in Ridgehill (Yonkers, N.Y.).

I have yet to get into using exfoliators on my skin, but it definitely is something I’m going to start trying  soon. I’ve actually gotten a few samples of some from BoxyCharm and Birchbox that look good and I’ve been wanting to give a try. So I think that’s going to be a new addition to my little skincare routine from now on.

But, recently when I haven’t been worrying about face washes or moisturizing, I’ve been getting more and more obsessed with using face masks. Predominantly I tend to like the peel off ones as opposed to the wash away ones, but nonetheless in general my collection of them has been growing immensely.

Figuring out whether or not you mainly have dry skin, oily skin, or combination skin is one of the main keys to figuring out what face masks would be more beneficial for you. Some of the face masks I have like the GlamGlow ones (i.e., the Sonic and Power Rangers ones) are samples because if you know the brand GlamGlow, you know they can be hella expensive, so sample-sizes like those are pretty much the next best thing to be able to try them, establish an opinion on them, then decide if I should buy the full-size or not. At the moment, from all of the masks I own, if I had to have a top three it would probably be:

  1. The Tarte Tight and Bright Clay Multi-Mask (which is the round purple one in the bottom right corner). This one really is amazing because there’s two masks in one, a purple and gold one. The purple is a Detoxifying & Purifying Exfoliating Mask which is perfect for the oily T-zone, this shine control mask helps tighten pores and detox your skin from the day’s pollutants. And the gold mask is a hydrating & Firming Gel Mask which is ideal for dry or delicate areas like the cheeks and under the eyes. Tarte Tight And Bright Clay Mask

The kaolin in the mask deeply cleanses impurities from the pores and ground coffee acts as a gentle scrub to buff away dryness and reveal glowing skin beneath. (WARNING FOR THIS MASK: ALTHOUGH I LOVE THE WAY IT ALWAYS MAKES MY SKIN FEEL AFTER USING IT, IT DOES HAVE AN EXTREMELY STRONG COFFEE SCENT, SO IF YOU DON’T LIKE/CARE FOR THE SCENT OF COFFEE YOU MIGHT WANT TO EITHER PASS ON THIS MASK ALTOGETHER, OR JUST NOT PUT IT ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR NOSE). Cup O’Coffee Mask

3. And finally, the GlamGlow sample sized masks (which start from all the way in the bottom left corner going towards the middle of that row). These collectible edition masks are an out-of-this-world tightening and firming mud that contains mega-targeted ingredients that work together to help skin’s contours look and feel more defined. Sonic Sample Mask . Green Power Rangers Mask . Gold Power Rangers Mask .

All three of these masks whenever I use them always leave my skin looking and feeling amazing, hence why they are my top three favorites. Now keep in mind, I do have a ton of other ones that do the same, if not similar things as these three, that are just as good, but there’s just something about these three that REALLY do it for me.

For a while when it came time to apply these masks I was using this Pore Refining Face Brush and Mask Tool,  which was by E.L.F. I liked it and got the job done for smoothly applying pretty much any mask I wanted to use. But then a few weeks ago I lost it while I was at my boyfriend’s house somehow and instead of repurchasing it right away, I went to a few different drug stores to see if I would find anything that would be (even slightly) better than what I was originally using to apply my masks. What I ended up finding is in no way, shape, or form groundbreaking, but I did find that I ended up liking this tool a lot more than the other one I was using. What I ended up finding and using was another tool by E.L.F. (totally unintentional), but it was just their foundation brush. It was only $2, and I found that this somehow managed to apply all of my masks even MORE smoothly than the other tool I was using. So lately all I’ve really been using is that and I LOVE it. For some reason it’s not letting me link it down below, but I think it’s one of their original foundation brushes, so you should be able to find it still in any drug store you went to. I ended up repurchasing the original mask tool that I was using from E.L.F., but even though I have it now, I find myself reaching for the regular foundation brush more than anything still.

Who Says Taking Care of Your Skin Is Only A Girl Thing?

I feel like it’s such an annoyingly common misconception for people (i.e. a lot of guys), to think/believe that skin care in general is girly and/or predominantly for girls. Is it much more common for women to speak about and post themselves and their everyday skin care routines? Yes. But that doesn’t in any way mean that it’s just a girl thing, it just means that girls are more open about it. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with guys being able to or wanting to care about their skin, how it looks, feels, etc. And if you’re one of those kinds of guys who is secure with his masculinity and doesn’t care what other guys think about this kind of thing and DO care for your skin, good for you!! Screw what others think. Now if you’re one of those guys who does think caring for your skin is too girly, how sad for you. You must live a very sad, oily/dry life.

My boyfriend and I do little skin care routines together all the time. And it’s nothing crazy or dramatic for others to think it’s girly. It’s simply washing your face, and doing face masks occasionally. He loves doing masks with me, ESPECIALLY the fun peel off ones like the GlamGlow Sonic and Power Rangers masks that are different colors and such. I think it’s even cuter when you’re a guy and you do things like that with your boyfriend/girlfriend, it’s like bonding and one other thing you guys can do together.

Overall, I just think skincare is super important. I mean realistically, who wants to be being living their life walking around with a ton of pimples all over their face, and/or noticeably dry/oily skin? Do these things tend to happen on their own sometimes? Of course, but you also have the power to do something about it to make sure it doesn’t happen AS often. Take care of your skin. An overall skincare routine would take only about 15-20 minutes tops. Or at the very least if you don’t care for doing masks, just find a good face wash that works for you and gets the job done, it’ll take maybe 5-10 minutes.  And find a good moisturizer to pair with it afterwards. There are a ton of different things you can do to help your skin, it really just comes down to figuring out what works for you, what doesn’t, and getting into a routine for doing these things.

As I said before, these are some of my personal favorite products to use that work really well with my skin type. If you guys have any suggestions for me on products you think are great and want me to check out, please feel free comment and/or link them down below and I will be sure to try it.

Also, leave comments down below for future posts that you guys would like to see; whether it’s beauty related, reviews on products, what I think about something that’s going on in the world, etc. I’m always open to new suggestions.

But that’s all I’ve got for you guys today, hope you enjoyed this post and I’ll talk to you guys soon! 🙂
