On The Menu Today: P.J. Clarke’s

What’s up everybody?! Happy Sunday! 😀 Hope you guys had a great weekend and are getting yourselves ready to kickass this coming week!

Today’s post is (finally) another food/restaurant one! 🙂 I know it’s been a while, but we haven’t really been able to go out and try different places as often the way that we used to, for a variety of different reasons. BUUUUT nonetheless, we finally did and so here we are today! 😉

The place I’m talking about is called P.J. Clarke’s, which I know they actually apparently have quite a few different locations around New York, but I’m specifically going to be speaking about the one in Brookfield Place, near the Freedom Tower.

Background Story:

I find that whenever I do one of these posts, I always end up giving you guys a little bit of background information for how we came across the restaurants that we do, so I figure why not continue on with that mini tradition lol.

Ultimately, this is the restaurant that Diego and I had went to when we celebrated our 4-year anniversary.

If I remember correctly, we were just kind of walking around the Brookfield Place mall (which is humongous and absolutely STUNNING, if you haven’t been there before, you HAVE to make the trip over!!), and we went in because Diego wanted to walk around the Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Store, so while he was walking around, I just kind of looked out the window, looked down, and saw that there was a ton of like large “fairy” lights strung all around the trees. So, I told Diego about it and we figure we go check it out, and when we did, we obviously saw that it was a restaurant, and just decided to try it.

Being that it was like in the middle of the summer, we did get to sit outside, which was absolutely beautiful because it was right next to the water. The scenery was beautiful, the food was amazing, and the service was just as great; so of course we decided we wanted to go back again, which we did last Saturday, but this time we went with my best friend Michelle as well.

IMG_1157

It’s obviously no longer summer, and it was actually really chilly last weekend when we went, so we opted for sitting indoors, which wasn’t bad at all because it was actually pretty cozy.

The general decor of the restaurant (although I really liked it) gave me major Italian vibes for some reason, even though they’re predominantly known for their burgers and ‘raw bar’.

Food & Service:

One thing to keep in mind with us (all 3 of us specifically whenever we get together), is that we always like to incorporate at LEAST a little bit of alcohol, and a whole lot of food….we can EAT.

So with that being said, of course we started off by ordering a bottle of rosé wine, which Diego picked out for us, and it was SO good. Personally, I’m a white wine type of girl and I know Michelle is too so that was right up our alley.

IMG_1143

IMG_1243

Next, of course came the appetizer, which is anyone at all surprised that we ordered wings for that? Because you really shouldn’t be at this point….we’re major wing lovers haha.

I never used to be one to care for spiciness in any of my foods/meats, but I guess dating Diego for as long as I have has actually made me grow really fond of it because now whenever we go out I’m usually the one to order hot/spicy wings (although my tolerance for it really isn’t anything crazy yet). That being said, we ordered wings that had a bit of a kick to it, but were still REALLY good.

IMG_1148

Next up for us came the entrées.

I guess I was the only one being fake boujee this day, because everyone else just got burgers while I got a steak lol.

Diego got the Smoky Poblano burger (shown below), which pretty much has Roasted Poblano, Sharp Cheddar and Green Herb Sauce, and he said it was pretty good.

IMG_1250

Michelle got a burger as well, but she actually got the The “Cadillac” which has Double Smoked Country Bacon, Onion, and American Cheese (we forgot to ask her to take a picture of her burger). Although she did tell us it was really good and a decent sized burger as well.

For me, I was REALLY craving the steak again that I had gotten the first time we came here for some reason, so that’s what I ended up getting (see below). I got the Prime Skirt Steak Frites, and that was absolutely delicious to me.

*All of our orders came with fries btw*

IMG_1152

Anddddddddd then all of our class went out the window….

Jk, we did decide to end up taking a shot though which was fun, and something we don’t do all that often altogether haha. It was just a regular shot of Patron…no real relevance to the post other than that it was a really funny experience for all of us including the server we had.

IMG_1203

And FINALLY, dessert….I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m a huge dessert person. If I’m at a restaurant and I know they have good desserts, 100% I am going to get something.

The first time Diego and I came here, we got this huge piece of chocolate cake and OH-MY-GOD. It was SO freakin’ good, seriously. Personally, I’m a chocolate-lover so this was everything to me lol, and the piece they gave us was HUGE, I’m not really sure if it was intentional or not, but regardless we really liked it (see below).

IMG_1275

The second time we went, I fully intended on getting the chocolate cake for all of us to split again, until I saw the dessert menu and saw that they had a seasonal PUMPKIN PIE CHEESECAKE!!!! You guys KNOW I had to get that as soon as I saw it, and Diego 100% agreed because he loves that as much as I do lol.

I also just generally think that they tend to give big portion sizes of their foods/desserts (which I’m totally not complaining about), because we got 2 slices for all of us to share thinking it wasn’t going to be enough, but both slices were HUGE, and we were just feeling extra fat and craving ice cream so we got the vanilla ice cream on the side as well ❤ _ ❤ (see below).

IMG_1256

Final Thoughts:

Overall, we all really liked this restaurant, the first time Diego and I came here for our anniversary in July, and the second time we came last weekend with Michelle. The food was just as great this time around as it was the first time. Our servers the first and second time were super friendly and helpful with any and all indecisiveness that we may have had in picking certain things. And the general ambiance of the restaurant was really nice as well as it’s surroundings with the waterfront and mall.

I will say that this restaurant is more on the pricier side as opposed to some of the other ones I’ve mentioned/recommended before, but I also think it was very much worth it, so I do 100% recommend you guys come and try this place if you haven’t already and are in the New York area.

Let me know if there are any other particular restaurants or food spots (predominantly in the New York area) that you would recommend for us to try and review, and we’ll definitely try it!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, please like, share and follow if you haven’t already, and I’ll see you guys in my next one! 🙂

Apple & Pumpkin Picking 2018!

Happy Monday everybody!

I hope you guys had a good, fun, relaxing and productive weekend like I did! 🙂 Today’s post is going to be about something SUPER Fall-like, which if you haven’t done, you definitely need to at some point!

I’m talking about going Pumpkin and Apple picking!!

This past weekend (on Saturday), me, Diego, a few of his family members, and some of our friends went to a farm to do some pumpkin and apple picking, and we had the BEST time. We went to Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard, which if you are from New York, it’s in North Salem (Westchester). I’m going to leave their website linked here for anyone that is interested in checking them out.

If you’re anything like me, then you probably haven’t gone to do something like this since you were a kid. Up until last year, I hadn’t gone to do this since I was in like 3rd or 4th grade and they took us as one of our school field trips!

Diego and I had found this place last year, but for one reason or another, only got to go by ourselves. We ended up loving it so much, that we KNEW we had to go back this year and bring some of the people closest to us this time around so they could enjoy it as much as we did the first time, and that’s exactly what we did.

IMG_0229

IMG_0472

We spent the majority of the afternoon there up until it was closing time for them (which was at about 5:30pm). We all had an amazing time and got to eat great food, pick a TON of apples, and buy some goodies from the store they had on their location.

One thing to mention about this place in general though, is that it’s all cash-only. So if you’re going to make a trip up here, come prepared with that. Personally, I brought $100 in cash and that was more or less fine to hold me off for the day and everything that we did. However, worse comes to worse (although I know people try to avoid this because of the added fee(s)), they do have an ATM on location in case you wanted/needed to take out more.

* * * * * *

IMG_0532

One of the really cute things this farm has is their little Country Store. It’s actually one of the first things you see when you’re driving in to the farm. It’s decently big, and super festive for the Fall/Halloween season.

Inside the store they have everything from baked goods, to produce that they grow themselves on the farm, to homemade jams of all different flavors, and even decorations and pumpkin carvers for the pumpkins you pick up there.

This is also where people would go when they place any orders for pies around the holidays to pick them up (which I’ll talk more about later on in the post).

IMG_0534

IMG_0533

* * * * * *

Although obviously the main attraction(s) here would be the apples and pumpkins, they also have a ton of other things to do as well. There were countless amounts of amazing food vendor stands, little games and activities for kids, somewhat of a petting zoo for kids (which included horses, chickens, and goats), and even live music.

The food was AMAZING. Granted, I am a picky eater and will mainly stick to the foods I know and love like burgers, chicken tenders, fries, etc., BUT nonetheless it was all good.

I’m sure people would say/think that the food is slightly overpriced for what you would normally get anywhere else, but I think it’s pretty worth it considering everyone there  makes everything right in front of you, so it’s all fresh for the most part.

IMG_0555

Something I highly recommend for people to try when you come here is the HUGE turkey legs that they always sell. From what I’ve seen, it’s definitely a best-seller. Diego absolutely loved it last year, and ended up being one of the first things he wanted when we came this time around too (pictured above).

Among the foods I just mentioned, they also had things like ice cream, fried oreos, cider donuts, fresh squeezed lemonade (which btw 10/10 recommend that you try the strawberry lemonade because WOW.), and pumpkin pie cheesecake.

IMG_0589
This is the strawberry lemonade. I believe it was $3 per container like this. We legit kept going back to get more, and by the time we left, we had gotten like 4 or 5 of them. SO good!!

One of MY personal favorite parts of all this was definitely the pumpkin pie cheesecake…….you guys, if you know me (as I’ve mentioned several times in several different blog posts), I am SUCH a picky eater, more so with regular food as opposed to desserts, but nonetheless picky.

HOWEVER, when Diego and I came last year, he managed to get me to try a sample of the pumpkin pie cheesecake they had there, and I swear I fell in love after that. So much so that I ended up placing an order for the big size that they had to be able to have that as one of the desserts at Thanksgiving last year, and I FULLY intend on doing the same thing this year as well!! So worth it, and they are all handmade by this cute little family that’s always at the farm!

* * * * * *

Overall, it was a really great and fun experience. Diego and I had a lot of fun last year when we went, but I think it was even better being able to experience it with some of the people closest to us this year as well.

If you haven’t been pumpkin or apple picking, but have been considering going lately and aren’t sure which farm to go to (and are in the NY area), I 100% recommend Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard. It’s a great place to go with a group of your family or friends, and is super kid-friendly as well.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and I’ll see you in the next one 🙂 !

On The Menu Today: Nomo Kitchen in SoHo!

Hi Guys! 🙂

Last Sunday (the 19th of August), me, Diego and our good friend Genaro went out to brunch in the city to celebrate my birthday. The place I chose was actually one that we had all been to before, for Diego’s birthday.

That place is called NoMo Kitchen in SoHo, which is what we’re going to be talking about today.

I found this place online back in April for Diego’s birthday, and loved it so much that I told him I wanted to come here again for mine.

I mainly chose it not only because I saw the menu and ambiance of the restaurant and thought it looked nice, but also because Diego LOVES SoHo. Ask him what part of New York City he loves the most, and he’ll most likely tell you that haha. And because of him, I’ve grown pretty fond of it as well. I mean who wouldn’t? There’s great stores to shop at, great restaurants all over, and cool street art all over the place to take great pictures.

So I figure, what better place to take him out for his birthday then in his favorite area right?

IMG_1815

Entrance & Decor of the restaurant:

One thing to mention about this place is that it’s both a hotel AND restaurant. So when you first walk-in, you see this really pretty, lit up archway, which is one of the (if not THE) most popular place in the vicinity to take pictures. We took a few, but because it’s so popular, it’s a little hard to get any without someone or people being in the background of it lol.

I literally fell in love with that archway. It’s SO cute, and I’m dying to come back and check it out at night. I can only imagine how much more pretty it must look…*too cheesy? Okay sorry, let’s move on!!*

IMG_1848

After you walk through the archway, comes the actual restaurant. I really like the set up of the entire thing. All of the greenery, graffiti on the walls and overall decor is really nice.  It’s chill, but looks nice and “fancy enough” to make you want to dress up for it still.

IMG_3416

The first time we went we had sat at a corner table, which was fine except when I wanted to take a picture by the hearts wall because I thought it was SO cute (clearly it’s the little things that please me lol). There were 2 different hearts walls, which both had a table in front of them, and every time one of the tables cleared and I wanted to get up to take a picture in front of it, new guests were seated at the table; so it just really wasn’t workin’ out for me.

When we went for my birthday brunch, we got to sit in front one of them, so you guys can imagine how excited I was!

Food & Drinks:

IMG_3401

So as I mentioned in the beginning, we came here for my birthday brunch (as we did for Diego’s birthday back in April, because let’s be real, who doesn’t love brunch?).

The first time we went for Diego’s birthday, we just kind of ordered whatever food, drinks, etc. we wanted and went a little crazy. But for my birthday, we decided to do the hour and a half bottomless brunch special for $29 per person (with our specific drink(s) being mimosas).

If you’re unfamiliar with what a bottomless brunch special is, ultimately, it’s you paying one set price to have unlimited access to the specific drink of your choosing for a set time that the restaurant gives you, with your desired meal as well. A lot of restaurants, pubs, bars, etc. tend to do this special, so if you haven’t tried it out somewhere I definitely recommend doing it.

I completely think it’s worth it, being that it’s literally unlimited mimosas or whatever drink it is you choose for an hour and a half, especially since the cost for lets say 4-5 mimosas is already going to probably be over $30 as it is and adding your meal into that you’ll most likely end up paying double.

IMG_3404

IMG_3417

IMG_1816
I don’t at ALL remember what drink specifically this was, but it was super good and sweet tasting and the cup was hilarious to me for some reason. Reminded me of Medieval times for some reason.

IMG_3420

I thought the food was amazing, presentation and portion wise. I’m a huge breakfast person, so I ended up getting the Eggs your Way dish with potatoes, turkey bacon, toast and french fries on the side (pictured below). I’m the type that I can EAT, but when there are a few different things coming with my meal the way that this did, a portion size like this is the perfect amount.

Our friend Genaro got relatively the same thing as me, the only difference is he substituted the turkey bacon for sausage and got the avocado toast on the side (which he said was AMAZING and he highly recommends for anyone to try), also pictured below.

IMG_3419

IMG_3422

Diego is a HUGE burger lover, so he just ended up getting the double cheeseburger (which he mentioned was really good) and an order of the lemon ricotta pancakes on the side for me and him to split.

Guys I just gotta say…if you know me, you know that when it comes to food I LOVEEEEE to eat, but to the same extent, I’m pretty plain when it comes to my food. Not in the sense of no seasoning or anything like that, but like I don’t care for my food to be made super fancy or look crazy and expensive or different crazy flavors or anything like that, does that make sense? I just mean that I like what I like and that’s that.

For example, with pancakes, I really only typically tend to like and eat plain pancakes or chocolate chip ones occasionally, but any flavors out of that realm has always been a hard pass, but these….OH MY GOD.

IMG_0021

IMG_3425

These lemon ricotta pancakes are the bomb.com x 10!!!! They taste SO good, it’s actually insane. They’re so little and cute and delicious. You definitely taste the lemon in the pancakes, but it’s not in an overpowering, tangy way. It’s light and sweet. 10/10 recommend that if you come here, these are a MUST to try, along with the avocado toast that Geno had and suggested.

* * * * * *

General Thoughts:

Overall, I completely love and recommend for anyone that reads this to try out NoMo’s Kitchen if you’re in the city and in the SoHo area. Price wise, the place is a little bit pricey, but I think it’s worth it to try.

The food was great, the ambiance and decor were SO nice, and the service was pretty good. I will say though that the first time we came here for Diego’s birthday, the service was better then when we came this time around for my birthday.

The lady we originally had started off pretty good, but then suddenly left and didn’t really say anything to us about her leaving or us getting a new server. And then the new male server we got, service wise, was kind of slow. He almost looked like he could careless about being there and waiting on us, which listen, I used to work at a restaurant myself so I I get it to some extent, trust me. But at the end the day, we are paying for a service, and you don’t have to be our best friend, but at least be quick when it comes to bringing us/refilling our drinks you know?

So that was a little bit of a downer, but it is what it is I guess. I’m not going to let that hinder my overall impression and liking of NoMo’s, which is that I really loved it. Everything else was pretty great, and I think that the general prices of everything was pretty worth it.

Originally, my overall rating of this place was a 10, but after the no-so-great service we got on Sunday, sorry guys, you got dropped to an 8-9. I would recommend that you guys come and try it out for yourselves at least once though.

* * * * * *

Well, that’s all that I’ve got for you guy’s today on this restaurant post. Let me know what you guys thought about it. Did you end up trying it? What did you think about it if you did? Let me know!

Also, let me know if you guys have any recommendation’s of restaurants, fast food places, coffee shops, etc. that you think I should try and review. I love getting recommendations from you guys! 🙂

Thanks for reading!
