My Favorite TV Shows

Hellooooooo everybody! 🙂

For today’s post I thought it would be fun to share with you guys some of my all-time favorite TV shows, especially since a couple of months ago, I did something similar but with my favorite movies (which I’ll leave linked here if you guys wanted to check it out).

Nowadays, due to the lack of free-time I end up having, I almost never get to REALLY watch and/or keep up with most TV shows, unless it’s late at night for like half hour before I go to bed.

HOWEVER, the few times I DO somehow manage to have some free-time and be able to watch TV, chances are, I’m watching one of the shows that I’m about to mention.

As always, they are not going to be in any particular order (except for the very first one I’m going to mention, and you’ll see why 😏), but I’m also going to try and give you guys a brief little description as to WHY they’re my favorite shows.

* * * * * *

So, without further adieu……here they are:

  1. Friends

Friends-together-withtitle-friends

Don’t be surprised by this one…..AT ALL. If you know me, you know that Friends is literally my ALL TIME FAVORITE SHOW!!!!!!! Nothing can beat it (I’m aware of how bold a statement that is, but it’s the truth…….don’t argue with me).

This is a show that I can literally watch every single day, several times a day, over and over again throughout the series, never get bored of it, and still always find the same jokes, phrases, etc. as funny as I did the very first time I ever watched it…which is actually interesting considering HOW quickly I tend to get bored with things usually, but whatever I’m not questioning it.

If by some miracle, you’ve never seen and/or ever heard of Friends, either go on Netflix right now and watch it from beginning to end, OR tune in to Nick @ Nite at 11pm until about 1:30am to watch a few episodes a night!!

2. Vampire Diaries

vampire-diaries-cast-750x522-1462481638

I was BEYOND obsessed with this show when it first came out. It was during the whole Twilight-Vampire obsession phase that I had, so OF COURSE I was interested in it. I mean c’mon, sexy main vampire characters, love triangles, and teen drama…who doesn’t love that?! And I was actually pretty good with keeping up with it for a long time, until like the last season or 2 when I had heard *SPOILER* that they had killed Elena off the show….then I was just pissed and said screw this because seriously, HOW DO YOU KILL THE MAIN CHARACTER OFF HER SHOW?!! I was so upset…

But recently (a few months ago or so) I decided to not only re-watch the show, but also actually watch until the end, and oh my god…my poor heart. I won’t say what happens because if you haven’t seen it, you definitely should, but wow what an emotional roller-coaster.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of how they ended the show, but overall, I really loved it and would still re-watch it if I ever had some time (which I’ve been thinking about doing again recently).

3. Total Divas/Total Bellas

I honestly forgot how exactly I got into this show, but I think it was just mainly because it was the Divas from wrestling. When I was younger, my brother and I were REALLY into wrestling, we would consistently watch it every Mondays and Thursdays whenever it would come on TV. And so when I saw and/or heard that they were coming out with a reality show for the Divas (Total Divas) from wrestling, even though I really didn’t know or ever hear of any of the ones that were on the show, I was immediately interested.

Oh, and John Cena would make occasional appearances, so there was also that, which was just an added bonus.

I think it’s a pretty good reality show, if you’re into wrestling at all (or were) and know any of the girls on the show. They also have a spin-off now called Total Bellas for the Bella twins (who were my personal favorite on Total Divas ANYWAY), so whenever I can, I really like to watch and/or catch up on what’s going on with theses shows.

4. Jersey Shore

91uVQlCdViL._RI_

I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory….lol. I mean c’mon, Jersey Shore is and I feel like always WILL be a classic. I don’t watch this show all the time, but I go through random phases every couple of months where I just feel the urge to want to watch certain episodes, and so I do, and it ends up being me re-watching the ENTIRE series.

I haven’t been able to watch and/or really keep up at all with Jersey Shore: Family Vacation as much, and I don’t think they’re actually on any of the streaming services like Netflix or Hulu, but if it was, I would definitely watch it.

5. Law & Order (SVU)

Law-Order-SVU-pinterestcom

Who doesn’t love a good crime show? Personally, I love the older seasons and episodes when Olivia and Elliot were still partners, but I’ll watch this show regardless. You get so hooked from just watching a few episodes alone, it’s hard not to want to keep watching.

I’m not actually sure if they stream that show on Netflix, Hulu, or any other streaming sites, but you can definitely always find it playing on TV at some point throughout the day.

6. Sex & The City

25

This is another show that is and will ALWAYS be a classic. If I remember correctly, I think I actually got into this show when I was in my first year of college. My roommate Abby and I would literally stay in our dorm room for hours before and after classes with food, snacks, etc. just binge watching this show ALL the time. It’s SO good.

I don’t know how I waited so long to finally see the movie, but about a year ago, I saw the first movie, and of course LOVED it. Now, I just need to see the second one even though I’m sure I’ll end up loving it as well! 😀

7. Hell’s Kitchen

HellsKitchen1-900x675

If you’re in to cooking and/or watching cooking shows and have never seen this one before, I HIGHLY recommend that you do. Gordon Ramsay is an AMAZINGLY blunt British badass, who is also an amazing chef.

Hell’s Kitchen is probably my favorite show of his to watch. It can be super intense, just because it’s a competition between a bunch of different chefs from all over the US over who ends up being the head chef at his newest restaurant and some people pass out from the pressure or have Gordon scream and curse his ass off at the competitors when they screw any/all of the dishes in the dinner services up.

I believe they stream multiple shows of his on Hulu and/or Netflix if you guys wanted to check it out.

8. Chopped

screen_shot_2014-04-07_at_11.48.53_am

Another great cooking show that I always love and find interesting to watch. I only recently somehow stumbled upon this show, but I’m glad that I did, because it’s SO great.

Similar to Hell’s Kitchen, it’s a cooking competition show, but for this show specifically there’s three rounds (appetizers, entrees and dessert). For each course the competitors are given only a handful of certain ingredients, and with that, they’re expected to come up with a dish for each course that’s going to blow the judges away. Not to mention they only have a certain, short amount of time to be able to make the dishes per round. Most of the time the winner ends up getting a prize of $10,000.

This too gets streamed on Hulu, or if you don’t have Hulu, they also give it all the time on the actual Cooking Channel.

9. Power

2560x1440

Self-explanatory, again. This show is probably the BEST crime drama series/show out right now.

I’ll wait for someone to try and argue with me about it……….

Nothing, right? Okay then, let’s continue…

This show is AMAZING and will 100% ALWAYS keep you not only on your toes, but also always wanting more. The romance, the action, it’s all so good; and if you haven’t seen it before, I definitely recommend you do before the new season comes out this summer!

The only thing I really don’t like and/or care for is the fact that it always feels like FOREVERRRRRR before the newest season comes out, although that could just be from how excited and impatient I am, but yeah….COME OUT WITH SEASONS QUICKER POWER PRODUCERS!!😤

10. Baking Championships (Holiday, Halloween, Spring, etc.)

bf86a625929ab56ae22c2cb66be818b6ed3860d8acdc1e0dda381a640c9c

So similar to cooking shows, I’m also REALLY into watching almost anything related to baking (yes, I LOVE to bake, although I don’t get to do it nearly as much as I’d like). However, out of most of the shows for baking they tend to run on the cooking channel, these Baking Championships tend to be my favorites.

They have some with kids, some with adults, and they’re all for different occasions (as shown in the picture). Out of all of them though, I would have to say that my absolute 2 favorites are the ones for Halloween and Christmas; they’re so festive and cute and SO interesting to watch the kind of stuff the contestants come up with.

11. Bones

market

Another great crime show. This is actually a show that my dad introduced me to years ago (how crazy is that to say?!). We used to watch it as a family ALL the time, every Wednesdays from 8-9pm, it was great.

This show is similar to Law & Order, except it’s much more lighthearted, meaning, there’s a lot more jokes, sarcasm, romance, etc. being thrown around ON TOP of the actual crime stuff that they show.

Fun Fact: This show was actually one of the main reasons that I entertained the idea of studying and becoming a forensic anthropologist back in high school (until my guidance counselor at the time shot and killed my dreams one day 🙃). I wanted to be just like Dr. Temperance Brennan!! haha.

12. Teen Mom

Another great drama-filled reality show. I’ve been “following” these ladies (a.k.a. just watching the show with them on it), since they were all originally on 16 & Pregnant. SO crazy how fast time flies considering all of their “babies” are pretty much grown-up now. But, I only really watch the show because of particular girls on it like all of the girls from Teen Mom 2 and only Macie and Catelynn from Teen Mom OG. I kind of find the other 2 annoying, but what do I know? Lol.

Anyway, similar to Jersey Shore and Total Divas/Bellas it’s a reality show, so there’s going to be a ton of drama, ups, downs, relationships, etc. It’s funny and interesting to somewhat keep up with peoples’ lives the way you do when you watch reality shows like this, but what can I say? I’m a sucker for a good reality show.

* * * * * *

So those were all of the shows that I tend to watch whenever I get a little bit of free-time, but I also wanted to share with you guys some shows that I actually want to START watching, but haven’t found the time to do yet, in hopes that maybe you guys can give me some feedback on them like whether or not they’re actually worth the watch. So, here they go:

  1. You

becd48b3-17b1-4320-8cfb-62ff24d609a0-you1

Never watched Gossip Girl, but heard it was extremely similar to that show, so I guess if I watch this show then I kind of have to watch the other? I know they don’t go hand-in-hand, but still. Worth the watch or over-hyped?

2. Riverdale

riverdale

Okay, so I have NO idea why, but for a long time now, I’ve had the strong urge to start watching this show. Never saw it before, never saw any trailers for it, etc., but something’s always told me to watch it for some reason, because I have a feeling I’ll REALLY like it, but I don’t know…about 2-3 months ago when I had some time on my hands and wasn’t working 2 jobs, I watched like the first 2 episodes, and wasn’t really into it.

Worth the watch or over-hyped? Does it take a little while to really get into it?

Also, fun fact: my brother and I were HUGE fans of the original Archie comics when we were kids! 🙂

3. Orange Is The New Black (Torn about this one?)

OITNB_S6_Header

I’m a little late to the party with this one, but I’ve always kind of heard mixed reviews on it. I also heard after like the 4th season, it kind of started going downhill and was nowhere near as good as it was when it first started, soooooo…….thoughts? Worth it or not so much?

4. Big Mouth

954332

And finally lol …… this show. So Chris (my brother), one day when he was home last November, had me watch the first like 5-10 minutes of this show with him, and man oh man did it not only take me off guard, but it also fucked me uppppppppppp. I was not expecting to hear the stuff that I did in the first couple of minutes. BUT, it’s actually really funny to think back on now, and I think I’d actually really like it, so what do you guys think? Yay or nay on giving this show a shot?

* * * * * *

I also thought it would be really fun to do similar posts about this for my favorite throwback TV shows from like early 2000s and late ’90s (animated and regular), and take a small trip down memory lane, because that’s always fun to do once in a while isn’t it? Let the nostalgia hit and linger for a bit….I know I always love that every once in a while.

Let me know what you guys think about that and if that would be something you’d be interested in seeing?! 🙂

Also, let me know in the comments what you thought about some of my favorite TV shows to watch. Are any of the ones I mentioned your favorites too? Do you have completely different ones? Do you guys have any good show recommendations for me to start?! Let me knowwwww! 😀

I hope you guys enjoyed this post; as always, thank you so much for reading. Please like, share, follow and comment and I’ll see you guys in my next post!

Apple & Pumpkin Picking 2018!

Happy Monday everybody!

I hope you guys had a good, fun, relaxing and productive weekend like I did! 🙂 Today’s post is going to be about something SUPER Fall-like, which if you haven’t done, you definitely need to at some point!

I’m talking about going Pumpkin and Apple picking!!

This past weekend (on Saturday), me, Diego, a few of his family members, and some of our friends went to a farm to do some pumpkin and apple picking, and we had the BEST time. We went to Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard, which if you are from New York, it’s in North Salem (Westchester). I’m going to leave their website linked here for anyone that is interested in checking them out.

If you’re anything like me, then you probably haven’t gone to do something like this since you were a kid. Up until last year, I hadn’t gone to do this since I was in like 3rd or 4th grade and they took us as one of our school field trips!

Diego and I had found this place last year, but for one reason or another, only got to go by ourselves. We ended up loving it so much, that we KNEW we had to go back this year and bring some of the people closest to us this time around so they could enjoy it as much as we did the first time, and that’s exactly what we did.

We spent the majority of the afternoon there up until it was closing time for them (which was at about 5:30pm). We all had an amazing time and got to eat great food, pick a TON of apples, and buy some goodies from the store they had on their location.

One thing to mention about this place in general though, is that it’s all cash-only. So if you’re going to make a trip up here, come prepared with that. Personally, I brought $100 in cash and that was more or less fine to hold me off for the day and everything that we did. However, worse comes to worse (although I know people try to avoid this because of the added fee(s)), they do have an ATM on location in case you wanted/needed to take out more.

* * * * * *

IMG_0532

One of the really cute things this farm has is their little Country Store. It’s actually one of the first things you see when you’re driving in to the farm. It’s decently big, and super festive for the Fall/Halloween season.

Inside the store they have everything from baked goods, to produce that they grow themselves on the farm, to homemade jams of all different flavors, and even decorations and pumpkin carvers for the pumpkins you pick up there.

This is also where people would go when they place any orders for pies around the holidays to pick them up (which I’ll talk more about later on in the post).

IMG_0534

* * * * * *

Although obviously the main attraction(s) here would be the apples and pumpkins, they also have a ton of other things to do as well. There were countless amounts of amazing food vendor stands, little games and activities for kids, somewhat of a petting zoo for kids (which included horses, chickens, and goats), and even live music.

The food was AMAZING. Granted, I am a picky eater and will mainly stick to the foods I know and love like burgers, chicken tenders, fries, etc., BUT nonetheless it was all good.

I’m sure people would say/think that the food is slightly overpriced for what you would normally get anywhere else, but I think it’s pretty worth it considering everyone there  makes everything right in front of you, so it’s all fresh for the most part.

IMG_0555

Something I highly recommend for people to try when you come here is the HUGE turkey legs that they always sell. From what I’ve seen, it’s definitely a best-seller. Diego absolutely loved it last year, and ended up being one of the first things he wanted when we came this time around too (pictured above).

Among the foods I just mentioned, they also had things like ice cream, fried oreos, cider donuts, fresh squeezed lemonade (which btw 10/10 recommend that you try the strawberry lemonade because WOW.), and pumpkin pie cheesecake.

IMG_0589
This is the strawberry lemonade. I believe it was $3 per container like this. We legit kept going back to get more, and by the time we left, we had gotten like 4 or 5 of them. SO good!!

One of MY personal favorite parts of all this was definitely the pumpkin pie cheesecake…….you guys, if you know me (as I’ve mentioned several times in several different blog posts), I am SUCH a picky eater, more so with regular food as opposed to desserts, but nonetheless picky.

HOWEVER, when Diego and I came last year, he managed to get me to try a sample of the pumpkin pie cheesecake they had there, and I swear I fell in love after that. So much so that I ended up placing an order for the big size that they had to be able to have that as one of the desserts at Thanksgiving last year, and I FULLY intend on doing the same thing this year as well!! So worth it, and they are all handmade by this cute little family that’s always at the farm!

* * * * * *

Overall, it was a really great and fun experience. Diego and I had a lot of fun last year when we went, but I think it was even better being able to experience it with some of the people closest to us this year as well.

If you haven’t been pumpkin or apple picking, but have been considering going lately and aren’t sure which farm to go to (and are in the NY area), I 100% recommend Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard. It’s a great place to go with a group of your family or friends, and is super kid-friendly as well.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and I’ll see you in the next one 🙂 !

A Letter to Those People That Are No Longer Apart of My Life

To whom it may apply,

Truthfully, there is no real reason for me to have to sit here and explain myself or my actions to anyone, but out of courtesy, this is something I’ve been thinking about for a while, and feel like I want to do.

There is also no reason for me to apologize for the decisions I’ve made unless it’s actually harmed anyone in any way, which, I highly doubt has happened. However, I feel like there are some things I want and need to get off my chest for the reasoning behind these actions which I’ll express in this letter.

* * * * * *

As I’ve mentioned several times in some of my previous posts recently, I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I’ve realized that I no longer have time for taking and/or dealing with crap from anyone; whether you are a friend, family, or even from passing strangers. And because I’ve made that realization, it’s forced me to make the conscious decision to have to cut all of the “dead weight”, so to speak, out of my life, that which includes some people and things that have been with me for YEARS.

If you happen to be one of those people, I do to some extent want to apologize because I realize that for some, it may have been or seemed sudden and out of nowhere. I’m not apologizing for me actually doing it, but the way that I did it. And although it may have seemed sudden to some, for me, it had most likely been building up for a number of months, if not years.

If you know me, you know that I tend to stay quiet for a lot, and if I’m your friend and/or an important person or part of your life, I will be there for you through thick and thin, no matter what. You can call me, text me, etc. and I’ll be there for you without question. My point in bringing this up is that because I’m like that, it takes A LOT (believe it or not) for me to finally give up and walk away from someone.

That being said, believe it or not for some of you that I’ve cut out, it wasn’t the easiest decision to make…Some of you that had been apart of my life for more than 10+ years. Some that we started out school together way back when. Some that I had been there for through some really serious shit; family stuff, relationship stuff, etc. But as time went on, and I started to be more hyperaware of all of the people and things around me, and where I knew I wanted to be with my life, I realized that my perception on a lot of these people and things had changed, because their actions towards me and their general habits were speaking louder then anything else.

None of them were going the extra mile for me, as I had with them. None of them would reach out to me, the way I did with them. And none of them would be there for me when I needed it, the same way I was with them. As a result, I started distancing myself, little by little. Those people started seeing and hearing from me less and less until it got to a point where they didn’t hear from me at all. Which was ironic because when I did to them what they did to me, they didn’t like it and would get upset with me about it, which made my decision to cut them out THAT much easier.

It was a harsh realization for me, but something that I knew had to be done in order for me to benefit myself and my future. I knew deep down that if I kept these people in my life that weren’t benefiting and/or lifting me up in anyway, that they were just going to end up holding me back later on down the line. Is that selfish? Probably, but in a healthy selfish way, I think.

Please trust, that if you REALLY knew me, you would’ve known that I never do anything to get anything in return; whether that’s materialistically or otherwise…BUT if you were a good, TRUE friend in general, out of courtesy and respect, you would’ve done for me everything that I had for you.

And to reiterate what I said in the beginning, I am sorry to some extent, because maybe the way I went about it all wasn’t exactly “the right way,” as in not saying anything, and just distancing myself, and I should’ve spoken to you about it. But, in my mind at the time, not only did I think that it was the easiest way to do it all, but I didn’t think it needed to be said, because any decent person would do for others what they wanted and expected other people that they consider ‘friends’ to do for them.

Truthfully, I just needed to do what was best for myself, because I’ve learned that not everyone is going to have the same mentality as me, and/or want the same things as me. Some people are just content with everything that they have at the moment and don’t care to do or want more, which is okay in its own way.

Just to be clear, I’m saying all of this now and it may or may not seem as if I’m upset and/or hurt by all of this, I mean I was, but please do not doubt that I am so beyond over all of this. I’ve made peace with everything that’s gone on. I’ve closed those chapters of my life, and am not holding any grudges towards any of those people or things, but I’m simply just telling “my side” of things.

Some people and things are just not meant to be permanent in your life, and I’ve come to make peace with that. It is unfortunate at times, but it’s all in God’s plan for us.

* * * * * *

I hope to some, this was some sort of form of closure, although who even knows if you actually want, need it or care. And to others, I just hope it means we can peacefully close that chapter, put it behind us and move on with our lives without issue and/or drama. There is no bad blood. There is no “tea to be spilled.” There is no drama or “beef”. There is nothing but the memories of what was and what currently is.

**Note: This letter was not in any way a form of singling out any particular person, but actually, I had a variety of people in mind when writing this which there is no need to mention them, because they most likely know who they are, and if they don’t that’s fine too.**

Sincerely,

Emily Hernandez
