Best Restaurants To Take Your Significant Other Out For Valentine’s Day (in NYC)

In light of Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, I thought it would be nice to share with you guys some of my suggestions for what I think are some of the best, romantic looking places in NYC to take your significant other for that special day.

And regardless of whether you’ll be celebrating it on the day of, or waiting until the weekend to do something, I think the suggestions I’m going to mention in a moment are nonetheless cute places to go to for a date night sort of thing with your significant other.

* * * * * *

Side Note: If the types of foods served at the restaurants I’m going to mention all are similar and/or the same, that’s completely coincidental. When Diego and I go out and find these places, we’re not actually looking for any sort of particularly cultured food, it just so happens that a lot of them tend to be similar.

Now, in no particular order, here are my recommendations:

  1. Almond Restaurant

IMG_1769

Location: East 22nd street, near Madison Square Park.

Type of food served: Bistro, French comfort food.

Ambience: Rustic, dim lit and comfortable feel.

Diego and I had come here for a date night of ours, without actually having it in mind to dine at. We kind of just stumbled upon it one night when our original dinner plans fell through, BUT, I’m kind of glad we ended up here. It was super cozy, good food and not that expensive either. Service was good, and it definitely had a romantic feel to it with the dim lighting and candles on the tables.

2. Haven Rooftop

o (1)

Location: West 47th Street, on the rooftop of the Sanctuary Hotel, near Times Square.

Type of Food Served: French influenced dishes.

Ambience: Cabana styled, glassed-in rooftop spot.

I actually took Diego here for the first birthday that I had spent with him when we got together. He had mentioned to me that he really wanted to celebrate his birthday on some sort of rooftop, and since I know he’s not necessarily the party type, I did my research, found this spot and figured why not take him to a late lunch/early dinner at this popular rooftop spot?

The food was really good, and since they were just switching over from lunch to dinner, we ended up being some of the first guests here and had the place to ourself. And although I remember it being a fairly gloomy day when we came, the views from the top were still really great. Diego’s birthday is in April, so it was still pretty cool outside, but it’s closed in by glass, so it was still comfortable.

3. Molo’s Restaurant

o

Location: Weehawken, New Jersey. Definitely on the far side compared to all the other places I’m mentioning, but 100% worth the trip if you decide to come here.

Type of Food Served: Mediterranean eatery, specializing in seafood.

Ambience: Modern, upscale riverfront with an AMAZING view of the city.

Probably one of the, if not THE most beautiful and romantic ones I can recommend. I brought Diego here for his birthday 2 years ago and it legit left an imprint on us…I don’t typically care for seafood, but I know that he does, so I figure why not?

It was about an hour and a half drive but generally it was nice to be able to listen to music and talk. And the location itself was stunning. I remember we had arrived about half hour early, so we got to walk along this boardwalk type thing and take pictures, which was really nice. And then when we finally got to be seated, we managed to get a seat right by the window which was absolutely beautiful to see the view of the city, especially since it was late afternoon and we got to watch the sunset from inside.

The servers were super nice, quick and helpful and the food was good. Although I should mention that this is more on the pricier side, but regardless think it was 100% worth every penny. If you can, I definitely recommend checking this place out.

4. And finally, Serra by Birreria

o (2)

Location: this is another rooftop location atop Eataly in the Flatiron district, right near Madison Square Park.

Type of Food Served: Italian cuisine, house brewed ales and high-end imported beer.

Ambience: At the moment it’s sort of like a themed pop-up restaurant, in that, it’s supposed to make you feel like you’re taking a trip to the Italian Alps, while also being in a Winter Wonderland sort of feel.

I suppose this is kind of cheating to some extent, because we haven’t actually tried this place just yet (we’re supposed to be going next Monday). BUT,  I found this place online and read some pretty great reviews on it. It’s apparently a pretty popular place. It seems to have some pretty good food options, and personally, I think it looks to be a pretty romantic and/or comfortable setting regardless of whether you go with a significant other or friends. I can’t wait to be able to check it out next week and actually give you guys my full opinion on it!! (Stay tuned for that 😉 )

I could literally probably go on FOREVER giving you guys suggestions of restaurants Diego and I have gone to and loved, but I think (thus far) these 4 are probably the most romantic-feeling ones that I can recommend with Valentine’s Day approaching.

*Also, all of these places take reservations, and they’re all available on OpenTable to be able to do that if you’re interested.*

I really hope you guys enjoyed this post, and that it helped you in some way, shape or form, whether you’re celebrating it on the day of, or just looking for some nice new restaurants to try out.

Also, I’m really sorry that things like this are subjected to the New York area only, but it is where I’m from and that’s all that I REALLY know.

Once I begin to travel a little more soon, I’ll be able to suggest more to you guys for things and places outside of New York.

But nonetheless, as I said, I hope you enjoyed. Please like, share, comment and follow and I’ll see you guys in my next post! ❤

2019 Goals

Happy Sunday [night] everyone!

I hope that the first weekend of 2019 was fun, relaxing and rejuvenating for you all! 🙂

For today’s post, I thought it would be nice to share with you guys some of my goals, but not necessarily by doing it the old fashion way of just mapping them all out for you guys.

This year, Diego and I thought it would be fun to create vision boards for goals of 2019. Neither of us had done one before, and we both have SO many things that we want to do/accomplish together and individually that we figure, why not?! It’s a great way to have fun and be creative while also doing serious thinking about the major things we want and hope to get done this year.

So that’s what I’m going to be talking about and showing you guys today!

* * * * * *

What’s a Vision Board?

Even though I just briefly discussed it, for those of you that don’t know, a vision board is ultimately a fun and creative project that people do to map out their goals/plans.

Personally, I’ve only ever REALLY heard of people doing this for the new year, but I’m sure people do it for other times as well.

It’s completely up to you, the person making it, to determine how creative or simple it is that you want to have it, but based on THAT will determine whether or not you have printed pictures, cut-outs from magazines, stickers, etc. and how MUCH of those things you end up including as well.

You use all of these things to basically either back-up the goal your mentioning (as a visual for it) or substitute what you’re actually trying to say with an image instead. As long as you understand what it means, that’s all that really matters.

* * * * * *

My Vision Board!

When it comes to doing little art projects like this, I LOVE getting as creative as possible, even if it means going all out in buying little art supplies and what not.

I take my time, I’m extra as hell, and end up being a perfectionist about it! haha.

img_4039

For this in particular however, it was creative and cute yet pretty simple. I’m super happy and proud of it.

Most of the supplies we bought were actually from Dollar Tree; the poster board, stickers, speech/dialogue bubbles, glue stick and markers (reason #12281057047 why Dollar Tree is the bomb.com especially if you’re on a budget like me).

My Vision Board is pretty self-explanatory, especially since everything is pretty much written on it exactly how I want it, but ultimately for this year, I just want to be happy. I want to be happy and doing anything and everything that I love and am passionate about it.

I want good health, happiness and prosperity, doesn’t everybody? But it goes more in depth when you see the final product of my board.

So, scroll down to see the (semi) final product of my Vision Board!

img_4043

I say that it’s semi-done because I still want and need to add a few more little pictures to it before I can officially say its complete, but the majority of it IS done.

* * * * * *

I really hope that you guys not only enjoyed this post, but also felt inspired to want to go out and create your own vision board!

And whether you already have created one, or are going to do it in the coming days, I hope that 2019 is an amazing and productive year for you all and that you get to accomplish every single thing on your board/list.

Let me know in the comments below if you guys have ever created a vision board and if so, what are some of the goals on them for this year?!

Please like, share, follow and comment and I’ll see you guys in my next post! 😉

*Also, special shoutout to my mama, who’s birthday is today!! Happy Birthday mama, i love you! ❤ *

Year-End Reflection Of 2018

I’m not going to pretend like this is going to be a super motivational post, because let’s be real…..2018 fucking sucked (personally). A lot of shit happened, a lot of shit went wrong and just generally, it wasn’t great.

I like to try and always stay positive and attempt to see the upside of things, but let’s be real, this year was a rough one. From personal stuff with family, to personal mental/internal stuff, to financial stuff, etc., the list can go on and on unfortunately. It’s just been a lot to take in within a year.

* * * * * *

I thought from the beginning that 2018 was going to be an AMAZING year. I swore by it. But, sometimes things, life, etc., just doesn’t go as planned. And if there’s anything that 2018 taught me, it’s that.

However, I must admit that with the bad certainly does come the good (to some extent). In spite of all the things that I briefly mentioned I dealt with this year, there were a few minor blessings as well.

For example, I just recently (2 days ago) hit my goal of wanting to get 100 followers on my blog before the end of 2018, which I now officially have surpassed with a current total of 102 followers (thank you to every single person who’s been following me from beginning until now and even recently started following).

I also made a year at my current job in September, and have worked my ASS off this year to ensure that my bosses, colleagues, etc. know that I am hardworking, reliable, dependent, and trustworthy with any and all work they give me. Which, has led me to recently have not only received a pretty great bonus from my boss, but also just as great of a raise as well!

I also was recently able to pick up a second job, which, although has been EXTREMELY tiring and time-consuming, has been great money-wise for not only paying my bills, but also for a little extra pocket money.

Those are pretty much the “biggest things/accomplishments” that happened for me in 2018. Is that sad? I don’t know, I don’t think so, because you’ve gotta shed some light on the little things that make you feel happy and accomplished just as much as you do the big things sometimes. Giving yourself credit when it’s due.

* * * * * *

With that being said, I also want to bring up how passive I was throughout 2018. Meaning, I was unintentionally super laid back. I let things and people get to me, that I not only should not have, but also I should’ve said more to stick up for myself. I let a lot of behaviors and situations go by that I should not have. I let myself get to such a depressive state in my life without asking and/or getting any sort of help to the point where I felt like I wanted to take my own life. And I just generally didn’t fight and/or push for anything to happen in my life in 2018 BECAUSE of how passive, depressed, and just generally tired I was of life.

These were all things though that, had I taken control of early on, could’ve made ALL the difference. I probably would not be in the position that I am right now, nor would I have been a few months ago.

* * * * * *

Without getting into TOO much detail about it, I just wanted to bring this up to point out that I didn’t make anything happen for myself in 2018. I sat back and attempted to WAIT for things to happen and get done, without realizing that thats not how it works. Sure, I should’ve known that and you hear people tell you that ALL the time, but actually experiencing it for yourself is a WHOLE other level of hurt, anxiety and depression.

It sucks. But, you know what they say, you live and learn.

I’m making a promise to myself to not have a repeat of 2018, in 2019. 2019 is going to be all about making shit happen for myself. I will no longer sit and wait for things to come to me. Whatever happens from here on out, will happen because I want and am making it happen that way.

I’m speaking it into existence (and have been a lot recently if you happen to follow me on social media) that 2019 is going to be THAT year. I don’t typically tend to like odd numbers, BUT, I think and feel like 2019 is going to be a GREAT year for myself, as well as my loved ones. A lot is going to happen and get accomplished, and I can’t wait to see the results slowly start to take place.

As for 2018 as a whole, the only other thing I’ve really got left to say to you is thank you, next….and 2019, I’m comin’ for ya.

* * * * * *

I’m sorry that this post was sort of all over the place, but these were just a few of the thoughts I was having of not only the past year, but also of what’s to come in the future that I wanted to share with you all.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and have a very happy and healthy new year with your family, friends, significant others and general loved ones.

Please follow, like share and comment, and I’ll see you guys next year!

Cheers to 2019……!

leo-cheers
