Fall Photoshoot Location Ideas (in NYC)

Hello hello everyone!

Long time, no see…..again.

I don’t even have any excuses as to why I’ve been so absent the past few months other than that there’s just been so much going on ( as we all know) and I’ve been busy with other things (work, Instagram content creation, etc.).

I’m really trying my best this time to STICK TO IT and be dedicated to posting on here at least once a week again, starting with this post.

Instead of apologizing, I just have to prove it to you guys, so here I am!

For my first post back, I wanted to incorporate my other content creating into it by showing/talking to you guys about some of the locations that I am SO excited to be shooting at this Fall season.

I thought this would be a good post to start with because I know that as a content creator, from September until the end of December is such an exciting yet crucial time for creating content. There are SO many different things you can be putting together for Fall, Halloween and the holidays. But, it can also be difficult sometimes to find good places to shoot at, especially here in New York when you’ve gone to all the hot spots and feel like you’ve touched almost every nook and cranny in the city that there is (maybe that’s dramatic, but I’ve been doing this for 2 years, and that’s how it feels sometimes).

So, for this year I really decided to branch out and push myself to put together some new and exciting content. And with that, comes new outfits and locations! This is me not only sharing where I want and plan on shooting some of my Fall content this year, but also attempting to give you guys some possible ideas (and photo inspo) for where to go as well if you happen to be stuck, so that’s what I’m doing today, and let’s just get into it!

  1. The Floral Escape (Queens Farm Museum)

The Floral Escape is definitely going to be one of the first places I go to this Fall. It’s located in the Queens Farm Museum and is SUCH a cute opportunity for Instagram worthy Fall photos. The above photos are some of the backgrounds/props they had last year. Last year was actually the first time I went, and I loved it. It was so cute and I got some GREAT photos out of it. I’ve seen other photos from this place this year and they actually have a ton of new ones, which is really exciting. They also have pumpkin picking, some farm animals and food carts here too which are just added bonuses.

2. Sleepy Hollow

One of the main things I’m looking forward to the most this Fall is capturing as much Fall foliage as I can, and I’ve heard/seen that Sleepy Hollow is one of the PERFECT places for that. Plus, the headless horseman legend is so cool lol and I’m interested in seeing the area that this story came from!

3. Happy Days Farm

Cliche or not, a pumpkin patch photo is SO important around this time of year and cute πŸ˜‚. I’ve also never been to this particular one in New Jersey before, but have seen SO many photos from here, so it’ll be interesting to see and experience it for myself for the first time.

4. Purchase, New York (my old college area)

I always loved the area that my old college was in. Trees everywhere and the foliage was always gorgeous. I only wish I was content creating 4-5 years ago so I could’ve taken advantage of it. Nevertheless, I’m excited to go back and try getting some great shots here.

5. Central Park

Another “cliche”, but I mean CMON, it’s a given. Central Park is stunning around this time of year thanks to the Fall foliage, and there are so many different places you can go within the park to try getting some good shots. Yes, it may feel “basic” because everyone attempts to come here to get shots in the Fall, but can you blame them? It’s definitely must-try.

What I’ve Been Up To Throughout Quarantine

Hey guys!

Long time no see!

I hate going MIA with my personal work the way that I have been lately, especially without much explanation to you guys, it bothers me SO much, but at the same time I think it’s really been needed.

People say all the time that sometimes it’s good and needed to be able to take a step back from everything and disconnect for a bit, in order to help your mental health and I think that’s very true. I’ve been posting here and there, but for the most I’ve been really trying to disconnect for a while. A while ended up turning into about 2-3 months, but like I said, it was needed.

If you’ve been reading my recent blog posts and watching my recent YT videos, you’ve probably seen that I’ve been dealing with a lot lately, as far as my mental health.

So because of this, it’s really been needed for me to take a step back and really understand/figure things out with myself, and it hasn’t at all been easy; in fact, it’s been some of the most difficult months of my life thus far, but I think I’m slowly but surely starting to get a handle on things and feel more like myself again.

Trust me that I am nowhere NEAR where I want to be yet, but I’m taking things day by day, and slowly, things have been getting better.

With that being said and since I’ve been MIA for quite some time, I really wanted to be able to let you guys know some of the things I’ve been doing lately to keep busy and that have been helping a LOT; so that’s what I’ll be doing today. πŸ™‚

The first thing I’ve been doing is praying.

I have been praying a LOT lately guys.

I’m not one to speak too much about religion on my platforms because I know there are all types of religions, opinions on religion, etc., but it’s something I’ve really gotten back into. Technically speaking, I am Catholic, born and raised, but over the years (for my own personal reasons) I have drifted away from my faith a lot.

Recently, however, I’ve gotten back into it. I pray, at least, twice a day, I’ve been reading the Bible more, etc. Am I a hardcore Catholic? No, I never have been; BUT I’ve found recently that doing these things have really been putting my mind and heart at ease when I’ve needed it the most, so for this reason and a few others, I’ve reestablished my faith, and am very grateful for it.

The next thing I’ve been doing a lot recently is meditation.

I will say that this is only something I got into because of the anxiety I’ve been dealing with recently, HOWEVER, I’m very grateful for getting into it to begin with because it’s helped me SO much. I definitely don’t do it nearly as much as I probably should, but the few times I do do it, it does indeed help relax me. Right now I only meditate once a day, which is typically in the morning, so that I am starting each day with a nice, calm mind.

I think in a previous post I mentioned that I use the Calm app (which is something you have to pay for after the 7-day free trial is up) for my particular meditiations, but there are a ton of good guided meditations all over YouTube that are just as good for it (and free!).

The next thing I’ve done a lot recently (and is actually one of my favorites) is reading!!

You guys know that I have ALWAYS been a major book worm, but unfortunately in the past year or so I had almost entirely put reading in the back burner because I was constantly on the go with creating content, traveling, the gym, etc. etc. (was I also probably just using those things as an excuse because I got lazy about it? Yes).

But this is honestly something that I am SO happy to have come back to because it really is true when people say that readers are leaders. I have been reading and educating myself on so many different things (mostly mental health/anxiety and spirituality) recently and it just feels so good to be back to it.

In the past month or so, I’ve already read about 5-6 books and that isn’t going to be stopping anytime soon since I have a humongous stack of books sitting in my room waiting to be cracked open!

The next thing is going on a daily walk.

Seeing as how all of the gyms are still closed and I’ve sort of given up on the idea of doing at-home workouts, I needed to get my body moving somehow and get my daily dose of cardio in so I started going on a walk every day, in the middle of the day.

Almost everyday during the week (weather permitting), my best friend Geno and I go on a walk around the block during my lunch time at work.  It may not seem like much to some people, but between the walk itself (which comes out to about a mile) and the talking/eating if we get lunch that day, it’s always a great time and helps to keep the rest of the day running smoothly. It’s like a midday stress reliever in a way.

The next thing I’ve been up to is getting more and more into plants!!

It’s kind of funny actually because my dad has ALWAYS loved plants and our house, front yard and backyard has always been covered in them, but only recently have I actually been learning about and getting more into them and what it takes to have a ‘green thumb’.

I recently became a plant mom myself and now currently own one snake plant and one bamboo one. Not only are they cute little decor pieces for my room, but I also love the beauty behind what they stand for and being able to take care of something else as well; plant therapy is a real thing!!

The next thing I’ve been doing is more crystal healing.

This is by no means a “new” thing for me, but it is something that I’ve been doing a lot more of recently. At the beginning of 2020, in my vision board for the year, I mentioned how I wanted to tap into and learn about spirituality more and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. Learning more about crystals, their individual healing powers, incorporating them into my meditations, and just generally growing my crystal collection more and more.

If I’m being honest, spirituality is one of the main things that has been helping me throughout this whole time in quarantine dealing with my anxiety. If you’ve ever been even remotely interested in it, I would definitely recommend expanding your knowledge on it because you’d be surprised at the healing properties behind them and what they can do for you.

And finally, I have little by little been getting back into the swing of my content creating.

You guys have no idea how badly I have missed being able to create content for you guys….and I know that I stopped because of my own personal reasons, but I also knew that if I couldn’t get myself together, there was no way I was going to be able to put on any sort of facade for you guys. That’s not me. That’s not what my work is or will ever be. I’ve always told you guys that if I’m putting something out there for you guys to watch, read, etc. it’s because it’s real and I’m proud of it.

That wouldn’t have happened had I been somehow or another pumping out content the past 2-3 months. I mean I tried to to some extent, but even that was just me being real and vulnerable and updating you guys on what’s been going on with me.

Now is different though. Now I’m finally at a place where I can start to be myself again and put things out there for you guys, but also still incorporate the things I’ve been going through and feeling lately, which I hope I’ve been doing a good job at.

How I’ve Been Coping With Anxiety

Happy Wednesday! How’s everyone doing?! I hope you’re all doing great. I personally have been doing okay lately. I have good and bad days, but I’ve been trying to stay strong and push through, hoping for better days everyday.

In my last post I opened up and spoke to you guys about how I’ve been struggling with anxiety for almost 2 months now (if you haven’t seen it, I’ll leave it linked here for you to check out).

Because of this, for today’s post I wanted to talk to you guys about some of the things that have been helping me relax and cope with my anxiety recently.

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been doing a ton of research lately on all things anxiety so I can really learn about it and figure out how I can attempt to fix this. So, everything I’m going to mention are things that I’ve found online to be helpful or the suggestions that some of my friends have given to me to help.

Unfortunately, these things aren’t full-proof (for me anyway), and therefore, sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t, BUT more often than not, these things HAVE been working for me.

I’m going to list everything and explain when/how I use them, unless it’s self-explanatory and doesn’t need any sort of explanation lol. I’m also going to do my best to link everything directly to where you can find and buy them if you’re interested in trying any of these things.

So without further adieu…..

  1. Calming/Relaxing Teas

Specifically from the brand Yogi. I’m sure there are a ton of other brands that carry teas similar to this that may even be better and more beneficial, but for now, these are the ones I’ve been using. I got them all off Amazon. Thus far I’ve only tried and REALLY liked the Honey Lavender Stress Relief and Calming ones, and they do always seem to help.

I know some people tend to put honey and other things in their tea to help better the taste, but personally I just drink it as is.

2. CBD Gummies

When I first started going through this, I asked people on my Instagram to recommend me things that have helped them now or in the past with their own anxiety, and SO many people recommended this and marijuana. I personally have never smoked before and don’t really care to try it, so I figure I look into CBD gummies and see what they’re about. Sure enough I did, and this was one of the top brands that I came across in my research.

I typically tend to take this at about 8:30-9pm almost every night to calm me and my mind before bed. It takes about an hour to kick in which is why I take it so early, because then by 10-10:30 I’m relaxed and ready for bed. The recommended amount to take is 2 per time, but I’ve only been doing one and it still seems to help/work the same.

If you’re interested, I’ll leave them linked here …. I actually just saw on the website though that the specific ones I got (pictured above) are sold-out for the time being. But they have other options, so I would definitely recommend still looking into it.

3. Essential Oils

Essential oils were actually something that my mom got me into. When all this first started for me and we were all confused about what was going on, my mom figured we try this to help and calm me down. Particularly the lavender scent which, after doing research on it, was a KEY scent to help calming anxiety apparently, so it was smart thinking on her part.

I would take the lavender oil and basically rub it all over my chest and back at night so that it can sink into the skin and help me relax. I would then take the one titled sleep and rub it on my temples, up and down my t-zone and on the sides of my nose, and it would actually help me sleep pretty great most nights.

The one titled immunity was actually a newer oil I got once I decided to purchase a diffuser, and it’s supposed to help protect against negative external influences.

Now I save the oils strictly for my diffuser and no longer put the oils all over me at night anymore because I use something else now which I’ll explain in a little bit.

4. Aromatherapy Sleep Body Lotion

This lotion is something that I recently came across when I was on the Bath & Body Works website, although it is by no means a new product, just something I never had use for until I started feeling how I have been lately.

I bought this lotion, a few aromatherapy candles and an aromatherapy body wash, all scents similar to this that are supposed to help with stress relief, to sleep better, etc.

I literally use this lotion every single night. I put it all over my arms, neck and chest and even on my face a bit. This is the alternative that I use now to the oils that I used before. And this product in particular has been working wonders for me at night recently, so I would definitely check it out if you haven’t before.

5. Meditation/Mindfulness

Another big thing that people were recommending to me when I asked for suggestions was to try getting into meditation. It definitely wasn’t easy because you really have to learn how to sit still for a certain amount of time, focusing on your breath and trying to clear your mind, but after a few tries, it gets easier.

I’ve gotten a lot of recommendations for guided meditations on YouTube, which I’ve sort of tried, but those tend to be on the longer side, so if you’re not used to it it can feel like a lot. What I’ve been turning to a lot and taking advantage of for this is the Calm app. They have all sorts of soothing sounds, meditations (long and short), bedtime stories, etc. to try and I’ve really been liking it lately.

Unfortunately, for some things on this app you do have to pay and sort of have a membership for, but there are a few free things on there that you can check out. And, they allow you a 7-day trial to try it out then go from there if you want to buy the membership for the year. I would definitely recommend doing the trial and then going from there, because it’s been very helpful for me in the mornings, throughout the day and even at night.

6. Journaling

I have absolutely no idea why it took me so long to think to do this one, but it did…..it took me about a month of feeling how I had been before I thought to write everything I’ve been feeling down.

Diego and a few others really encouraged me to journal everything I was feeling, and sure enough, the more I started doing that, the more I began to feel better (at night anyway).

I primarily prefer to journal at night just because I can really think and write about the entire day as a whole, but there have been a few times where I end up randomly writing throughout the day as well.

7. Reading

Reading has been really great at easing my mind at night as well. There’s something about picking up a good book at the end of the day before bed….right now I’m reading a book about mindfulness (which kind of ties into meditating as well) and I’m learning a lot about both. The book gives all kinds of breathing and mindfulness exercises to help you be more present and in the moment from serious things like gatherings to the smallest things like when you’re brushing your teeth. It’s really great.

8. Therapy

Finally…..I haven’t really mentioned this to many people before, but I enrolled myself into therapy about 2 weeks after I started feeling how I was. Obviously it can’t be face to face therapy for the time being due to the pandemic, but I’ve been using this great app called Talkspace which matches you with a therapist for your specific needs.

I speak to my therapist at least once a day for the most part, and it’s been really good for me. I know a lot of people tend to be against therapy because it’s a stranger you’re talking to and that can be nerve-wracking to open up to someone like that, but I promise it helps; especially through this app because it’s really informal in an interesting way. You can send texts and voice notes and even schedule video calls with your therapist if that’s what you prefer.

I’ve been learning a lot, and really it’s like journaling, except you’re actually speaking to someone about everything you’re feeling instead of writing it down (although I love doing that too obviously) and they’re giving you their insight and ways to possibly help with everything you’re feeling.
