My Everyday Makeup Routine

Hey guys! For today’s post I thought it would be fun to share with you guys my everyday makeup routine.

This is actually the look that I did the other day when I went apple and pumpkin picking with Diego and our friends/family. It’s simple as heck but always still manages to make me feel pretty and “done-up.”

I’m going to be sharing with you guys the products I used and what I used to apply each of them. I also did my best to take certain pictures to show you guys the individual products on my face before taking pictures of the overall final product. Does that make sense? You’ll understand better as I actually move along lol.

Also, something to quickly mention before I start is that I’m obviously in no way, shape or form a makeup artist, nor am I trying to be. But, these are products that I’ve really been loving lately and are my typical go-to products whenever I want to do a nice, little calm beat and I just felt like sharing that with you guys, so that’s what I’m doing today 🙂 .

Lastly, I took all of these photos with my iPhone XS in my naturally lit room, so if the colors or lighting or any of that look off, that’s why!

* * * * * *

 So the first thing I do before anything is make sure that my face is nice and clean then put my moisturizer on. For my moisturizer, I more often than not reach for my Dermasil Dry Skin Treatment Original Lotion.

Honestly, there’s no particular reason why I reach for this one as opposed to any other one, other than the fact that I just generally like this one a lot.  And even when I don’t wear makeup, this tends to be my everyday moisturizer in the mornings and at night.

* * * * * *

The next thing I do after moisturizing my face, is put on primer. Now the primer that I’ve been using recently is fairly new to me still, but overall I’ve found that I like it A LOT and has been my go-to lately. The primer I’m talking about (which also doubles over as my setting spray after everything) is the Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer and Setting Spray.

At the moment I only have the ‘trial size’, but once this one is finished, I’ll probably end up getting the full-sized one. I originally got this as a trial size just to be able to test it out and now that I have for a while, I’ve realized that I really like it, which isn’t much of a surprise since I have the original Hangover Replenishing Face Primer and loved that one for a while too.

* * * * * *

This next step 2 steps kind of just always depends on how I’m feeling that day, because I’ll either do one or the other first, but regardless I do end up doing both and it always ends up working out. HOWEVER, for this look in particular and the day I did it, after priming my face, I went in with my foundation. The foundation I’ve really been reaching for lately is my Tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation, in the shade Medium Neutral.

Just foundation on my face, at the moment.

I bought this foundation a couple of months ago when it first came out pretty much because of the concealer. I figure that I loved the concealer so much, so why not try the foundation too? And sure enough, I loved this as well, and ever since I’ve been using it like crazy. It has very quickly become a favorite of mine. To apply my foundation, I use the E.L.F. Cosmetics Ultimate Blending Brush.

* * * * * *

After my foundation is on I went in to do my brows. The only brow product I really ever tend to use is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in the shade Ebony.

Only foundation and brows on. I do usually tend to go in with concealer to clean and sculpt them out a little more, but I was sort of in a rush and didn’t have a chance to do that this day.

I have yet to find another brow product that does it for me the way that this one does. And don’t get me wrong, I’m open to trying anything new, ESPECIALLY if I’m going to end up loving it, it’s just that at the moment, I haven’t found anything that I’ve liked more than the Brow Wiz.

As for brow gel, I always go in with the ABH Clear Brow Gel, because it’s my favorite at the moment, and similar to the Brow Wiz, I have yet to find one that I love just as much.

* * * * * *

After I finish my foundation and brows, I go in with my concealer. Now, even for my everyday makeup looks, I don’t typically tend to use one specific concealer. Every time I do it, I’ll use a different one and there have been quite a few that I’ve REALLY been liking lately, but for this look in particular, I went in with the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in the shade Medium-Light Warm.

Like I said, there’s been quite a few different concealers that I’ve been really liking lately, but this one in particular tends to stand out THAT much more for some reason. It does a pretty good job at covering my dark circles, really doesn’t crease all that much (of course I have to set it a bit, but nonetheless), and blends pretty seamlessly with me. To blend out my concealer I actually use the Red Beauty Blender, which I won’t show because it was kind of dirty….lol.

* * * * * *

I don’t typically set my entire face with powder, because I don’t usually need to. I don’t find that I get creasing on my forehead or smile lines or even around my nose (thankfully, not trying to brag about that). I find that although I have combination skin, it tends to be more on the oily side then on the dry side these days.

However, to set my under eyes a little bit, I went in with a BRAND NEW powder that I recently bought and just from using it that one time, I think it’s already going to end up becoming a go-to. The powder I’m talking about is the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder.

Let’s keep in mind that it was only the first time that I had used it, BUT it did SUCH a good job at setting my under eyes and not having them crease up on me. I typically tend to struggle at finding a good under eye powder that helps me avoid creasing, so the fact that this actually was great at that, made me REALLY excited.

This day I had finished my makeup at about noon, and by the time I got home from everything I was doing and checked out how my eyes were doing, it was about 8pm and only then did I start to see minor creasing. That’s 8 hours..not too shabby if you ask me.

* * * * * *

After setting my under eyes, I go in with my bronzer. Now similar to concealer, I’ve actually been really liking and going between using about 2-3 different ones lately, but for this look in particular I went in using my Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in the shade Bronzer.

Foundation, Brows, Concealer, Powder and Bronzer.

This is probably my FAVORITE drugstore bronzer of all time. I have yet to find one that tops this (which if you happen to have one you like and/or think is better, please free to share with me 🙂 ). It blends really easy, always looks pretty on the skin and smells AMAZING. I’m sure you guys have heard a zillion times that it’s like the ultimate smell of a tropical dream lol. SO good, and cheap at that too, so what could be better? I always use my Too Faced Mr. Right- The Perfect Powder Brush to blend this and any bronzer out really.

* * * * * *

*This is about the time when the pictures started going downhill and I stopped, because I was really rushing at this point lol.*

After my bronzer, I always apply my blush. I attempt to try new blushes every so often, but for the most part I almost always stick to this one in particular which is the Nars blush in Orgasm.

I have literally always loved this blush since the very first time I saw and used it more or less a year ago. I just think it’s the prettiest, perfect pinky blush for my skin tone and gives me a nice little flush to the cheeks. It’s definitely my favorite, although I have a few others that I don’t mind switching it up for every so often, I do almost always grab for this one. I always apply my blush with the Real Techniques Blush Brush.

* * * * * *

After my blush, I always curl my lashes and go in with my mascara. My eyelash curler is nothing special which is why I didn’t feel the need to take a picture of it and show it to you guys. Although, if I remember correctly, it’s from Revlon.

However, the mascara that I’ve been absolutely OBSESSED with recently is this Lancome Monsieur Big mascara. This mascara is probably the best mascara of all time (I’m aware at how bold of a statement that is, but it’s the truth!!). I naturally already have really long lashes, but this intensifies that SO much more in the best way possible, while also giving me really great volume. I literally cannot say enough good things about this product other than that it’s definitely a favorite.

* * * * * *

While I’m waiting for my mascara to dry is always when I take the opportunity to go in with whatever highlight it is I want to wear that day. For this look, I wanted something that would be subtle, but you would obviously still notice that it was there, so I went in with the Wet-n-Wild To Reflect Shimmer Palette in Boozy Brunch.

Guys this highlight is SO pretty. It really gives such a beautifully subtle glow to the face. And personally, whenever I put it on, I can pretty much build it up as much as I want and it still doesn’t ever look too chunky on my skin or like it’s just sitting there you know? Definitely a great quality drugstore highlight. To apply my highlight I believe I used the Sigma F03 High Cheekbone Highlighting brush.

* * * * * *

And finally for my lip product. For this look originally I was really excited to try a new liquid lipstick that I had recently purchased, which was the Beauty Bakerie Matte Lip Whip in the shade Gingersnap…..HOWEVER…..although I didn’t take a picture of it on my lips, after I put it on (literally like a minute or two later), it looked really weird and like patchy.

It was the weirdest thing and I have never really had that happen to me before with a lipstick. But it looked all broken up and transferred A LOT when I would purse my lips together like I would typically do after applying. I don’t know, all I had underneath was my usual lip balm that I literally ALWAYS wear under my lipsticks, so I doubt it was that. But it kind of (unfortunately) turned me off to it altogether. I have another shade from them that I’m going to test out before coming to a final conclusion about it, but yeah, so far I was really disappointed and it was a pretty bad first impression.

But, after I immediately removed THAT from my lips, I decided to go in with one of my FAVORITE liquid lipstick shades to wear around this time of year which is the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lolita.

* * * * * *

Well that’s it guys, that’s my everyday makeup look. See the final product below. Thanks so much for reading and I hope you guys enjoyed it.

The Key To Success Is Skin Care

Hey guys!

As you can probably assume from the cover photo on this, today’s post is going to be all about skin care. I figure it’s about time to branch out a little and start touching upon the other kind of topics I’ve been wanting to cover for a while like things that are beauty related, so that’s exactly what I’m doing today.

As always, I’m basing my thoughts on my personal experiences and skin type, as well as my personal favorites to use to care for my skin. At the end of reading this post if you guys have any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions for me to try, by all means please leave them down below and I will be sure to check them out.

* * * * * *

My Personal Skin History

The way my body in general and skin works is very odd, because both as a whole are EXTREMELY sensitive. Like I have to be ridiculously careful with pretty much anything I touch or put on my face and body, because if I’m not, I’ll most likely end up getting a really bad allergic reaction. I can’t even tell you guys how many times in the past I had to learn that the hard way. Luckily, however, when it comes to my face, ASIDE from my eyes, I’m pretty much in the clear when it comes to me trying/using lotions, masks or anything to that degree.

I’ve actually gotten pretty lucky when it comes to my skin. I get my occasional break out here and there, but it’s never been really crazy or bad like I know some people have.

*She says thankfully and not at all in a conceited way*

Like my brother for instance (no shade towards him at all), all throughout his high school years really struggled with acne. He got it bad, and because of that him and my mom tried every trick in the book to help clear it up; creams, Clearasil, Proactiv…you name it, he probably tried it. I, however, didn’t ever really have to deal with that. I mean I would get really frustrated and annoyed if I got just ONE pimple, but I tend to overreact sometimes.

It’s actually ironic that I never dealt with really bad acne or anything, because when I was younger I NEVER used to really care about my skin at all or taking care of it. And I really should have because although I never had to deal with acne, I’ve always struggled with having extremely dry skin. I hated it, it was the worse.

b1d0976b05285bd19d9011c9652db394--quotes-about-skincareNow, however, things have changed a lot obviously. Recently, (and when I say recently I predominantly mean within the past year or so more or less), I’ve become obsessed with skincare. Everyday, morning and night, I make sure to do stuff to take care of my skin. I’m 22 now, and to this day I still struggle with my dry skin, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it once was.

Today, I seem to have more combination than either one or the other. For those of you who don’t know what that means, that means that I tend to get dry skin and have oily skin as well. So whenever I buy particular skincare products or even makeup products, that’s something to look for in particular to help with it. Or, if you have one or the other instead of both, most stores, drug stores, etc., tend to sell products for one or the other, or both if you need it. Now that Winter is approaching, it’s something I have to be slightly MORE mindful about than usual because that’s when my dry skin tends to come out to play the most. It’s really frustrating and annoying, but it is what it is I guess.

* * * * * *

Lotions, Washes, and Masks…OH MY!

Following my little skincare routine everyday has honestly become one of my favorite things to do day in and out. I have a few products in particular that I’m going to mention that I tend to use the most on a day to day basis, some of my products, new products I’m beginning to use, etc.

Personally, I’m not big on washing my face in the morning unless for one reason or another I didn’t get the chance to do it the night before. In the morning all I typically do is rinse my face off with water. I try my best to make sure I dab/pat my face when drying it off instead of scrubbing it with a towel, but I do slip up sometimes, and find that it doesn’t typically tend to affect my skin in any negative way. But at night, whether it’s in the shower or just right before bed, I tend to use a face wash on my skin. I have two face washes in particular that I always use, but I never use them both in one wash, I’ll use one or the other depending on how my face feels throughout the day.

If I feel like my face has not at all cooperated throughout the day, it’s super oily and/or dry and it needs a really good/deep washing, I tend to use this to wash my face:

Noxzema Classic Clean Moisturizing Cleansing Cream. This thing is freaking amazing for real. It’s such a deep soothing cleanse for your face. It smells like a mixture of Vicks and pure Mint. Personally, when I use this to wash my face I literally feel it sink into my skin, and it feels like such a cooling sensation. Like I said, whenever my skin is having a rough day with dryness and oiliness, I use this and as soon as I do, it’s as good as new. Clean, smooth and ready to conquer the world. I typically get this whenever I go to Walmart, but I know Target sells this too, and I’m sure other drugstores like Rite Aid and Walgreens sell it as well. The consistency of it I really don’t even know how to explain, it’s almost like thick and blocky sort of (I know that sounds weird) when you first take some out of the container, but once you rub your hands together and put it on your face, as I said it just melts right into the skin.

Now, for those days that I still need to wash my face obviously, but not as intensely or deeply, I’ll go for something that’s much more light, but still gets the job done and I love just as equally. Which is this:

Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser. This pretty much does the same thing as the Noxzema just to somewhat of a lesser degree, meaning it’s not so much of a DEEP cleanser like the other one is, but it still does just as good a job. It still manages to clean and keep my skin smooth. With the Noxzema face wash a little bit goes a long way, it could be the same way with this one, but personally, I like to use a lot of this to feel as though it worked thoroughly for me. Reading it off the bottle, the consistency of this is foamy obviously, but it’s nice and lightweight, nothing too thick or heavy. Again, another one of my favorites. This just like the Noxzema one, I buy in either Walmart or Target, and I know for a fact other drug stores sell this as well.

There are two moisturizers in particular that I use, one more than the other. There’s one that I pretty much use everyday, and have been for about a year or two now. And there’s one that I just recently bought a few weeks ago that I’ve really been liking lately too. The first one is:

Dermasil Dry Skin Treatment Original Lotion. I use this every single day, once in the morning and once at night before bed after I’ve washed my face. This is also the one moisturizer that I use all the time before applying my primer and makeup. I especially like it because of how much it helps with my dryness; this is the perfect thing for me to use in the Winter time when my dry skin tends to get the best of me. If I had to give one downside or complaint to this it would be that personally, without wearing makeup or anything, just having this lotion on my face, by the end of the day my face looks and feels like a huge grease ball. It’s kind of annoying, but the ultimate overall purpose of the lotion does what it’s supposed to so that’s all that TRULY matters to me.

The other moisturizer I’ve been using more of lately is:

The E.L.F. Natural Glow Lotion. As far as I know, this is a fairly new product to the E.L.F. family. First and foremost I just want to say that I love how much E.L.F. is expanding their skincare line, and a lot of the products are SO good, for such affordable prices. I think I bought this in the store for like $3 or $5. Even if it may be tiny, it’s good quality and super cheaper, so the size of it really doesn’t matter to me much. It’s supposed to be a luminous lotion. At first glance when I put it in my hands it looks kind of glittery, so that worried me a bit, but then actually using it, it sunk into my skin and you barely see the “glitters” in it if you want to even actually consider them glitter. It leaves your face looking kind of shiny, but in a nice glow way, not like you’re an oily mess. The consistency of it is also nice and lightweight. I actually purchased this in the E.L.F. store in Ridgehill (Yonkers, N.Y.).

I have yet to get into using exfoliators on my skin, but it definitely is something I’m going to start trying  soon. I’ve actually gotten a few samples of some from BoxyCharm and Birchbox that look good and I’ve been wanting to give a try. So I think that’s going to be a new addition to my little skincare routine from now on.

But, recently when I haven’t been worrying about face washes or moisturizing, I’ve been getting more and more obsessed with using face masks. Predominantly I tend to like the peel off ones as opposed to the wash away ones, but nonetheless in general my collection of them has been growing immensely.

Figuring out whether or not you mainly have dry skin, oily skin, or combination skin is one of the main keys to figuring out what face masks would be more beneficial for you. Some of the face masks I have like the GlamGlow ones (i.e., the Sonic and Power Rangers ones) are samples because if you know the brand GlamGlow, you know they can be hella expensive, so sample-sizes like those are pretty much the next best thing to be able to try them, establish an opinion on them, then decide if I should buy the full-size or not. At the moment, from all of the masks I own, if I had to have a top three it would probably be:

  1. The Tarte Tight and Bright Clay Multi-Mask (which is the round purple one in the bottom right corner). This one really is amazing because there’s two masks in one, a purple and gold one. The purple is a Detoxifying & Purifying Exfoliating Mask which is perfect for the oily T-zone, this shine control mask helps tighten pores and detox your skin from the day’s pollutants. And the gold mask is a hydrating & Firming Gel Mask which is ideal for dry or delicate areas like the cheeks and under the eyes. Tarte Tight And Bright Clay Mask

IMG_9659     2. The Cup O’Coffee mask from Lush (which is the one in the top right corner). The kaolin in the mask deeply cleanses impurities from the pores and ground coffee acts as a gentle scrub to buff away dryness and reveal glowing skin beneath. (WARNING FOR THIS MASK: ALTHOUGH I LOVE THE WAY IT ALWAYS MAKES MY SKIN FEEL AFTER USING IT, IT DOES HAVE AN EXTREMELY STRONG COFFEE SCENT, SO IF YOU DON’T LIKE/CARE FOR THE SCENT OF COFFEE YOU MIGHT WANT TO EITHER PASS ON THIS MASK ALTOGETHER, OR JUST NOT PUT IT ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR NOSE). Cup O’Coffee Mask

3. And finally, the GlamGlow sample sized masks (which start from all the way in the bottom left corner going towards the middle of that row). These collectible edition masks are an out-of-this-world tightening and firming mud that contains mega-targeted ingredients that work together to help skin’s contours look and feel more defined. Sonic Sample Mask . Green Power Rangers Mask . Gold Power Rangers Mask .

All three of these masks whenever I use them always leave my skin looking and feeling amazing, hence why they are my top three favorites. Now keep in mind, I do have a ton of other ones that do the same, if not similar things as these three, that are just as good, but there’s just something about these three that REALLY do it for me.

For a while when it came time to apply these masks I was using this Pore Refining Face Brush and Mask Tool,  which was by E.L.F. I liked it and got the job done for smoothly applying pretty much any mask I wanted to use. But then a few weeks ago I lost it while I was at my boyfriend’s house somehow and instead of repurchasing it right away, I went to a few different drug stores to see if I would find anything that would be (even slightly) better than what I was originally using to apply my masks. What I ended up finding is in no way, shape, or form groundbreaking, but I did find that I ended up liking this tool a lot more than the other one I was using. What I ended up finding and using was another tool by E.L.F. (totally unintentional), but it was just their foundation brush. It was only $2, and I found that this somehow managed to apply all of my masks even MORE smoothly than the other tool I was using. So lately all I’ve really been using is that and I LOVE it. For some reason it’s not letting me link it down below, but I think it’s one of their original foundation brushes, so you should be able to find it still in any drug store you went to. I ended up repurchasing the original mask tool that I was using from E.L.F., but even though I have it now, I find myself reaching for the regular foundation brush more than anything still.

Who Says Taking Care of Your Skin Is Only A Girl Thing?

I feel like it’s such an annoyingly common misconception for people (i.e. a lot of guys), to think/believe that skin care in general is girly and/or predominantly for girls. Is it much more common for women to speak about and post themselves and their everyday skin care routines? Yes. But that doesn’t in any way mean that it’s just a girl thing, it just means that girls are more open about it. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with guys being able to or wanting to care about their skin, how it looks, feels, etc. And if you’re one of those kinds of guys who is secure with his masculinity and doesn’t care what other guys think about this kind of thing and DO care for your skin, good for you!! Screw what others think. Now if you’re one of those guys who does think caring for your skin is too girly, how sad for you. You must live a very sad, oily/dry life.

My boyfriend and I do little skin care routines together all the time. And it’s nothing crazy or dramatic for others to think it’s girly. It’s simply washing your face, and doing face masks occasionally. He loves doing masks with me, ESPECIALLY the fun peel off ones like the GlamGlow Sonic and Power Rangers masks that are different colors and such. I think it’s even cuter when you’re a guy and you do things like that with your boyfriend/girlfriend, it’s like bonding and one other thing you guys can do together.

Overall, I just think skincare is super important. I mean realistically, who wants to be being living their life walking around with a ton of pimples all over their face, and/or noticeably dry/oily skin? Do these things tend to happen on their own sometimes? Of course, but you also have the power to do something about it to make sure it doesn’t happen AS often. Take care of your skin. An overall skincare routine would take only about 15-20 minutes tops. Or at the very least if you don’t care for doing masks, just find a good face wash that works for you and gets the job done, it’ll take maybe 5-10 minutes.  And find a good moisturizer to pair with it afterwards. There are a ton of different things you can do to help your skin, it really just comes down to figuring out what works for you, what doesn’t, and getting into a routine for doing these things.

As I said before, these are some of my personal favorite products to use that work really well with my skin type. If you guys have any suggestions for me on products you think are great and want me to check out, please feel free comment and/or link them down below and I will be sure to try it.

Also, leave comments down below for future posts that you guys would like to see; whether it’s beauty related, reviews on products, what I think about something that’s going on in the world, etc. I’m always open to new suggestions.

But that’s all I’ve got for you guys today, hope you enjoyed this post and I’ll talk to you guys soon! 🙂
