My Word Of The Year & Why?

Hey guys,

I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently, ever since I started putting together the materials for my 2020 vision board at the end of December; and as I was putting everything together, I realized that a KEY TERM that I kept using throughout the board was consistency.

Super important and obvious to making anything happen and/or successful, right? Yes, but is it just that easy? No.

Let me take a few steps back and talk to you guys a little bit about my 2020 vision board first and foremost, then I want to speak about why the word ‘consistency’ is so important and going to be my word of the year.

* * * * * *

My 2020 Vision Board

Pictured below is the board, let me know what you guys think about it this year, compared to my 2019 one (I’ll leave my 2019 blog post about it linked here)! ๐Ÿ˜… I was, and still am, SUPER proud of it.

*Also just so that you guys know, I did an entire video on my YouTube channel showing how exactly I put it all together, so if you haven’t checked it out yet, I’ll leave it linked here for you guys to see! ๐Ÿ˜Š*

If it may be a little bit difficult to see, I broke my goals up this year into Personal, Relationship and Business goals. Obviously ALL of the goals on the board are super important to me, and although what I’m talking about in this post is relevant to really anything, I am mainly going to be focusing on my business goals.

For my business goals, I have things on there like be consistent and better with my Instagram content, grow my blog and be more consistent, and even though I didn’t write the word ‘consistent’ in it, it was the same with hitting 1,000 subscribers on YouTube.

It wasn’t planned for me to use that word throughout them all, and I actually didn’t even realize I did that until I finished writing them all, but I think that’s just because subconsciously I KNEW that in order to do everything I wanted on there, then being consistent was what I was going to have to do, plain and simple. But, is being consistent REALLY that easy?

* * * * * *

Consistency and Why It Isn’t Easy

As obvious and important as consistency is in relatively EVERYTHING that matters to us, is it really THAT easy? Personally, I think that it could be, but definitely not always.

I think that if you are passionate enough about something, then of course you’ll do anything in your power to get it done or whatever the case is, but just because you’re getting it done, doesn’t make it easy to actually do.

For example, with my personal business goals and work (Instagram, my blog and YouTube), I have SO many different ideas for all of those things, it’s crazy, but actually executing them and making sure it comes out exactly how I want it and being proud enough in it to actually want to make it public for you guys to see is the difficult part.

In theory, if you have an idea it should be relatively easy to just make it happen, but that’s not always the case. It could be raining so it ruins my location idea for a shoot, therefore, that day that I had planned for IG content has to get cancelled and/or postponed. My video idea could go to complete shit for one reason or another (editing program issues, equipment damage, awful lighting, the idea just doesn’t make sense, etc.). Same thing with a blog post, it’ll sound like a great idea in my head but when I FINALLY start to sit down and write it out, it makes no sense and I’m not happy with it, NOR do I have a back-up option in that moment. The list really could go on.

I know that it sounds easy to just be like, just be more consistent, and maybe for some people it really is just that easy, but for people like me (the psycho perfectionist) who only ever wants to try putting out the best possible content for my followers in all different forms as well as being proud of what I’m putting out, sometimes it’s really just not that easy. It’s definitely something that I want to work on which is why I have it on my vision board this year, but it is definitely going to be tricky. Sort of piggy-backing off of my previous post, sometimes you can plan as much as you want for these things, and things could still go wrong, making you unable to have or want to put out content for that day.

It’s a bit of a contradiction because consistency is SO important and the only REAL way to grow any sort of brand, business, etc. IS by being consistent, making mistakes, learning from them and being better, but I just wanted to let you guys know (since sometimes people don’t seem to understand it), that consistency isn’t as easy as some may think, which is why it’s something I really want and hope to work on throughout 2020.

I know what I want and I know what to do for these things, but it’s just kind of having to take it day by day, not put so much pressure on/into it, make sure I’m having fun and enjoying what I’m doing, and just kind of push to keep going and be better.

QUOTE1-5
I saw this quote and thought it was super relevant, because I do believe that progress, no matter how big or small, is still progress at the end of the day, even if it’s JUST coming up with the idea for your work sometimes.

I hope that you guys enjoyed this post and were inspired by it in some way, shape or form. I know that it was a little random and I hope I made sense through it all, but like I mentioned, it’s something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. Plus, it’s an important thing to talk about. Consistency in anything that you care about and want to succeed in, really is key.

If you did in fact enjoy this post, please make sure to drop a like and/or comment about it. Your guys’ feedback is always important to me. Thank you guys so much for reading, if you haven’t already, please follow my blog and I’ll see you guys in my next post!

What’s Been Going On Lately?

Hey Guys,

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these spur of the moment, impromptu, what’s going on with me lately, type posts.

I figure today could be one of those posts because I’ve got SO much stuff running through my mind at the moment that I wanted to share a bit with you guys, so I guess that’s what I’m going to be doing.

* * * * * *

So, where to begin?….

I guess I can start off with the way I’ve been feeling since we’ve gotten back from our trip.

The first couple of days were genuinely tough, not only because of the jet-lag that I was dealing with, but also because of the vacation withdrawals I was going through.

Vacation withdrawals are a VERY real thing; some people take it serious and some just brush it off because they know that they’ve enjoyed their time during the vacation, and now it’s over, and that’s okay. But for me, it REALLY sucked when it was over.

Why?

I guess because it was the first trip I had gone on in SUCH a long time, I was planning it for SO long and it was the first trip that I had ever completely paid for and planned on my own. We had such an amazing time and were so care-free while over there, it was great.

And then we came back to reality and went back to our normal routines, which is fine because that’s what’s supposed to happen, but it made me realize that I don’t really like my normal routine, and I know I can be doing SO much more.

I went back to working both jobs that take up AT LEAST 75% of my time most days, which I’m VERY grateful to have because some people aren’t as lucky, BUT neither of them are what I REALLY want to be doing…

It left me thinking a lot lately about why I’m giving so much of my time and energy to these things that leave me with little to no free-time for myself to be working on the things that actually matter to me? Obviously I need to work, and obviously I need money. However, why continue to give all this time and energy to these things that are in no way, shape, or form adding real meaning to my life nor my career??

*I’m predominantly referring to my second job, not my primary one, btw.*

Doing this, I’ve quickly realized, is actually what’s sucking the energy, motivation and creativity away from me. It’s leaving me exhausted all of the time, and is what’s forcing me to have lack of motivation to do anything but rest really.

* * * * * *

My writing and blog are SO important to me, and because of all this, it’s caused me to have writer’s block more so than what I normally would have. I know the type of things I want to write and talk about, but I’ve been second guessing myself SO much recently and don’t actually know or feel like they’re interesting enough to publish on my site.

I’m such a perfectionist and have such high expectations for myself that it’s hard for me to actually put myself and my writing out there sometimes when I don’t feel like it’s my best, and this just adds on to it since I feel like I’m not really giving it my all.

I mean, who wants to post just to post? Not me.

I want to make sure that if I’m posting and putting myself out there, it’s because I’m giving you guys my best.

I’m also well-aware that I’ve got no one to blame but myself for this, because I’m the one who chose to pick up a second job, and money-wise it’s been okay, but at what cost?

I’m past the point of doing these things and jobs that don’t mean much to me. I want and need to start focusing more on finding things that make me happy and continue to be an asset to my life as well as my creativity.

I want to be happy doing the work that I am, and although I was content with these things, jobs, etc. for a while, I’m realizing more and more that it’s time to take a step back from all of that (while being smart about it obviously), and really begin to look for and do work in the specific field that I want.

That being said, I’m making the executive decision to make some big changes in my life in the coming weeks/months.

I don’t know exactly what all of them will be and how I’m going to go about them, but even if I did, I don’t think it would be the best and/or smartest thing to do to tell you guys them just yet (I’m sort of superstitious in that sense). Once they become more final, I will be sure to share them with you guys as much as I can and bring you guys along in my journey as I’ve always promised that I would!!

* * * * * *

On a separate and somewhat more POSITIVE note, I’ve really been trying my best since coming back to keep myself as busy as possible with the fun and more creative stuff that I like to do like with my blog, planning other trips/events and shooting more content for my Instagram.

I told myself (as well as Diego since he is my photographer) that I want and need to be more consistent when it comes to my content on Instagram. Social media isn’t everything, but it is and I think always will be a BIG portion of where my following comes from, so it is very much true what people tend to say, that consistency IS key. So there’s that.

I’ve also seriously been considering more and more recently creating a YouTube channel.

This really isn’t anything new and is actually something I’ve been saying I want to try doing for a while now, but I don’t know….lately I’ve been watching a TON of different videos which has been inspiring me more and more to want to finally do it.

I need to figure a few more things out as far as how I’m going to have the separation between creating enjoyable content for you guys both for my blog here and on the channel, but let’s see…….LeoGirl could be coming to YouTube soon, who knows? ๐Ÿ˜ stay tuned for that.

And finally, Diego and I have a few things coming up soon that are pretty exciting. Nothing that’s too through the roof and extravagant, but a few things that are really fun and exciting for us that I can’t wait for you guys to see, INCLUDING a very possible trip for my own birthday in August…..๐Ÿคช, it’s still in the works, but remember what I told you guys, when I really want and/or put my mind to something, I will ALWAYS find a way to make it happen ๐Ÿ˜‡.

* * * * * *

I’m really trying to remain positive because I know all of this that I’ve been feeling lately is only temporary, but I wanted to share it with you guys in hopes that it’ll show you if you’re feeling the same way at all (about any of these things), that you are not alone.

It’s a sucky feeling to have in the moment, but unfortunately that’s life, and it happens. The only thing we can do is try to think ahead and hope that we can find solutions to these things and/or have things to look forward to before it gets us down.

Regardless, I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Please like, share, follow and comment, and I’ll see you guys in my next one.

8 Tips to Staying Motivated

I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently, because I know that there are always certain days more than others that I tend to need and/or seek that bit of extra motivation in my day to day routines. So, when I sat down to really think about it, I realized that these 8 tips are ones that almost always seem to help me when I’m lacking that motivation. Sometimes I’ll do all of them at some point of my day, and sometimes I’ll just do a few of them.

Nonetheless, these tips always end up being my go-to on those motivation-less days to help get me through the day. These are obviously things that tend to work for ME, and I am well aware that what works for me, may not work for everyone, but I figure I share them because you never know who could end being benefited by them.

So let’s get started! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Do things you love and that make you happy. Pretty straight-forward and obvious, no? There’s a reason I mention this, because as obvious as it may seem, a lot of people tend to not do it very much. Some people are super strict in their day to day routines. They mostly only do the things that NEED to get done during the week, like going to work, getting errands done, etc. But, try not to be so serious all of the time. Make sure that you’re making time throughout your day to do things that make YOU happy; whether that’s during your lunch break at work, after work, a night-time routine you have, etc. It’s extremely important and needed in order for you to keep yourself going, and actually WANT to carry-on with the rest of your day.

2. Listen to music that hypes you up & makes you feel good.ย I don’t know about anyone else, but on my way to work every morning (which is about a 20-30 minute train ride and 5-10 minute walk afterwards), I always try to listen to particular songs that I know are not only going to really wake me up, but also hype me up to start my day. And 9 times out of 10, it works. The only “downside” to this is that by the end of it, I’ve got the beats stuck in my head, and all I really want to do is dance throughout the day, but ya gotta pick your battles right? ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚. (*I’m planning on doing an entire post on the music that always ends up hyping me up and making me feel good, although it was going to be more so of a gym playlist kind of post, but I definitely want to incorporate this in there now*).

3. Wear clothes that you feel good in.ย I know this one can be a little tough, more so during the week because most people are working and what not, but who says you can’t look and feel cute at work? Screw what everyone says that you’re not there to impress anyone, I mean you’re not, but you should be impressing YOURSELF and make yourself FEEL good in whatever it is you’re wearing. Chances are if you look good, then you’re going to feel good, and if you’re feeling good, then you’re definitely going to want to kick ass and conquer the day.

4. Listen to podcasts.ย This has been SUCH a big one for me recently. I more so have been listening to these at night, on my way home from the gym, but nonetheless, it helps SO much. The inspirational podcasts I’ve been listening to in recent weeks has really become such a huge part of my night-time routine, and I’m SO glad that it has. Believe it or not, listening to motivational podcasts can really spark something in you to find what you’re passionate about in life and attempt to take whatever steps necessary to get where you want to be. (*I’m also planning on doing an entire post dedicated to my favorite motivational podcasts that have been inspiring me SO much lately, so stay tuned for that!*)

5. Go to your favorite place(s).ย You’d be surprised what going to some of your favorite places could do for you in sparking your motivation. There are 2 places in particular that I absolutely LOVE to go to, that almost always not only spark my motivation, but also my creativity and if I were lacking inspiration as well. It kind of helps me release any stress that I may have, clears my mind and gets everything rolling again.

6. Reading & looking up motivational quotes.ย Am I the only one that does this? Anytime I’m lacking motivation wherever I am (whether at home, work, etc.), I will legit sit and just look-up motivational quotes on Google. Believe it or not, it really does help (me anyway). It helps because it shows me that whatever I’m feeling, I’m not the ONLY one feeling it, and there’s a weird sense of comfort in that. I’ll look at different websites and images for motivational quotes, post and/or screenshot a few that I like the most, and viola I end up feeling the slightest bit better and more motivated then when I first started my day. Google never fails me!!

7. Thinking about the future and where you’re going to want to be in 5-10 years.ย This one is super important. Anytime that I am feeling unmotivated and like I’m at a stand-still in my life, I take just a few minutes to think about where I am right now and where I eventually know that I want to be in my life, in a few years, everything I want to have, everywhere that I want to go, etc. and I INSTANTLY feel better and more motivated then ever before. If you have goals that you want to achieve, and remember that everything you’re feeling and going through at the moment is just temporary, and keep in mind that you WILL get to where you want to be one day, I guarantee you that will spark your motivation more then it probably ever has. I don’t know about anyone else, but thinking and/or planning (to some extent) my future, from the smallest things to the biggest, is such an exciting feeling to do and makes me never want to stop working towards all of those dreams and goals that I have.

8. And finally,ย Go to the gym and workout.ย Is anyone else surprised that this one managed to get thrown in there somehow? ๐Ÿ˜‚ But seriously, personally, being able to get a good sweat in everyday at the gym (even though it’s almost never at the very start of my day like many people typically tend to suggest), always makes me feel motivated after the fact. It makes me feel good in all aspects and makes me want to do more (not workout-wise). Again, this is one of those things that will make you look good, as a result make you feel good, and as a result of THAT make you want to continue to kick ass and push for more!

I hope these tips were helpful to you guys in one way or another and you find your motivation to keep going, because once you spark that, you can only go up-hill from there!
