How I’ve Been Coping With Anxiety

Hey guys,

Happy Wednesday! How’s everyone doing?! I hope you’re all doing great. I personally have been doing okay lately. I have good and bad days, but I’ve been trying to stay strong and push through, hoping for better days everyday.

In my last post I opened up and spoke to you guys about how I’ve been struggling with anxiety for almost 2 months now (if you haven’t seen it, I’ll leave it linked here for you to check out).

Because of this, for today’s post I wanted to talk to you guys about some of the things that have been helping me relax and cope with my anxiety recently.

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been doing a ton of research lately on all things anxiety so I can really learn about it and figure out how I can attempt to fix this. So, everything I’m going to mention are things that I’ve found online to be helpful or the suggestions that some of my friends have given to me to help.

Unfortunately, these things aren’t full-proof (for me anyway), and therefore, sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t, BUT more often than not, these things HAVE been working for me.

I’m going to list everything and explain when/how I use them, unless it’s self-explanatory and doesn’t need any sort of explanation lol. I’m also going to do my best to link everything directly to where you can find and buy them if you’re interested in trying any of these things.

So without further adieu…..

* * * * * *

  1. Calming/Relaxing Teas

IMG_9744

Specifically from the brand Yogi. I’m sure there are a ton of other brands that carry teas similar to this that may even be better and more beneficial, but for now, these are the ones I’ve been using. I got them all off Amazon. Thus far I’ve only tried and REALLY liked the Honey Lavender Stress Relief and Calming ones, and they do always seem to help.

I know some people tend to put honey and other things in their tea to help better the taste, but personally I just drink it as is.

Here is the Lavender Stress Relief tea.

Here is the Calming tea.

Here is the Relaxed Mind tea.

And finally, here is the Bedtime tea.

2. CBD Gummies

IMG_9789

When I first started going through this, I asked people on my Instagram to recommend me things that have helped them now or in the past with their own anxiety, and SO many people recommended this and marijuana. I personally have never smoked before and don’t really care to try it, so I figure I look into CBD gummies and see what they’re about. Sure enough I did, and this was one of the top brands that I came across in my research.

I typically tend to take this at about 8:30-9pm almost every night to calm me and my mind before bed. It takes about an hour to kick in which is why I take it so early, because then by 10-10:30 I’m relaxed and ready for bed. The recommended amount to take is 2 per time, but I’ve only been doing one and it still seems to help/work the same.

If you’re interested, I’ll leave them linked here …. I actually just saw on the website though that the specific ones I got (pictured above) are sold-out for the time being. But they have other options, so I would definitely recommend still looking into it.

3. Essential Oils

IMG_9787

Essential oils were actually something that my mom got me into. When all this first started for me and we were all confused about what was going on, my mom figured we try this to help and calm me down. Particularly the lavender scent which, after doing research on it, was a KEY scent to help calming anxiety apparently, so it was smart thinking on her part.

I would take the lavender oil and basically rub it all over my chest and back at night so that it can sink into the skin and help me relax. I would then take the one titled sleep and rub it on my temples, up and down my t-zone and on the sides of my nose, and it would actually help me sleep pretty great most nights.

The one titled immunity was actually a newer oil I got once I decided to purchase a diffuser, and it’s supposed to help protect against negative external influences.

Now I save the oils strictly for my diffuser and no longer put the oils all over me at night anymore because I use something else now which I’ll explain in a little bit.

I got all my oils and the diffuser from Target which is linked here if you guys want to try getting some.

4. Aromatherapy Sleep Body Lotion

IMG_9791

This lotion is something that I recently came across when I was on the Bath & Body Works website, although it is by no means a new product, just something I never had use for until I started feeling how I have been lately.

I bought this lotion, a few aromatherapy candles and an aromatherapy body wash, all scents similar to this that are supposed to help with stress relief, to sleep better, etc.

I literally use this lotion every single night. I put it all over my arms, neck and chest and even on my face a bit. This is the alternative that I use now to the oils that I used before. And this product in particular has been working wonders for me at night recently, so I would definitely check it out if you haven’t before.

I’ll leave it linked here so you can get it easily if you want to.

5. Meditation/Mindfulness

unnamed-2

Another big thing that people were recommending to me when I asked for suggestions was to try getting into meditation. It definitely wasn’t easy because you really have to learn how to sit still for a certain amount of time, focusing on your breath and trying to clear your mind, but after a few tries, it gets easier.

I’ve gotten a lot of recommendations for guided meditations on YouTube, which I’ve sort of tried, but those tend to be on the longer side, so if you’re not used to it it can feel like a lot. What I’ve been turning to a lot and taking advantage of for this is the Calm app. They have all sorts of soothing sounds, meditations (long and short), bedtime stories, etc. to try and I’ve really been liking it lately.

Unfortunately, for some things on this app you do have to pay and sort of have a membership for, but there are a few free things on there that you can check out. And, they allow you a 7-day trial to try it out then go from there if you want to buy the membership for the year. I would definitely recommend doing the trial and then going from there, because it’s been very helpful for me in the mornings, throughout the day and even at night.

6. Journaling

coffee-journaling

I have absolutely no idea why it took me so long to think to do this one, but it did…..it took me about a month of feeling how I had been before I thought to write everything I’ve been feeling down.

Diego and a few others really encouraged me to journal everything I was feeling, and sure enough, the more I started doing that, the more I began to feel better (at night anyway).

I primarily prefer to journal at night just because I can really think and write about the entire day as a whole, but there have been a few times where I end up randomly writing throughout the day as well.

7. Reading

1*0tmBPKA1YGo82VNeMS3KhA

Reading has been really great at easing my mind at night as well. There’s something about picking up a good book at the end of the day before bed….right now I’m reading a book about mindfulness (which kind of ties into meditating as well) and I’m learning a lot about both. The book gives all kinds of breathing and mindfulness exercises to help you be more present and in the moment from serious things like gatherings to the smallest things like when you’re brushing your teeth. It’s really great.

8. Therapy

Finally…..I haven’t really mentioned this to many people before, but I enrolled myself into therapy about 2 weeks after I started feeling how I was. Obviously it can’t be face to face therapy for the time being due to the pandemic, but I’ve been using this great app called Talkspace which matches you with a therapist for your specific needs.

I speak to my therapist at least once a day for the most part, and it’s been really good for me. I know a lot of people tend to be against therapy because it’s a stranger you’re talking to and that can be nerve-wracking to open up to someone like that, but I promise it helps; especially through this app because it’s really informal in an interesting way. You can send texts and voice notes and even schedule video calls with your therapist if that’s what you prefer.

I’ve been learning a lot, and really it’s like journaling, except you’re actually speaking to someone about everything you’re feeling instead of writing it down (although I love doing that too obviously) and they’re giving you their insight and ways to possibly help with everything you’re feeling.

* * * * * *

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and that it was helpful to you in some way, shape or form if you’ve been dealing with anxiety and looking for new ways to sort of help it and calm/relax your mind.

Let me know if you ended up trying any of these things and how they worked out for you. Also let me know if there’s anything outside of this list that you tend to use that works well for you, that you think I should try. I’m always open to new suggestions.

Thank you guys for reading. If you enjoyed this post, please make sure to drop a like and follow my blog if you haven’t already.

On The Menu Today: Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse

Hey guys!

Today’s post is FINALLY going to be another restaurant review/recommendation type post 🙂

It’s been almost 4 months since I’ve done one of these because we just haven’t really been going out to eat much these days, and if we have, they’re either regular fast food places or places that I just didn’t think were interesting enough to do an entire post on.

About 2 weeks ago though, we FINALLY went to a new place, and I thought it would be the perfect time to take pictures/notes (mental notes, not actual pen & paper notes LOL) and do a post on it.

The name of the place we’re going to be talking about today, if you read from the title, is Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, which is located in 6th avenue in Manhattan (right near Radio City Music Hall if you’re familiar with the area at all).

The Ambiance

IMG_8544

IMG_8554

This place is definitely on the more pricey/fancy side, which we don’t normally tend to do too much just because unless it’s like a SPECIAL occasion (the way it was when we came here), we don’t feel the need/want to have to come and spend a ton of money on places like this.

It is, however, always great to be able to get all dressed up and come to a really nice place like this every so often, which is exactly what we got to do when we came here 2 weeks ago.

IMG_8557

Right off the bat I would say this is the perfect place to go to for an anniversary date, a birthday, or even just a regular date that you may like and/or want to splurge on.

Diego and I came here for our good friend Shakerra’s birthday dinner. She was actually the person who chose the place too, I had no prior knowledge of this place whatsoever. After we established that we were coming here though, I did my research and actually saw that they have quite a few different locations around the U.S., but this is the only one  they have in New York.

There was 5 of us, so we had called in beforehand to make a reservation for our party. I don’t think reservations are mandated, but they are recommended.

Our reservation was for 7:30pm and easily we spent 2-2 and a half hours here; between waiting to be greeted, taking our orders, waiting for our food, eating, getting dessert, etc. etc… Although 2 and a half hours IS pretty long obviously, it really wasn’t that bad being that we were all enjoying each others’ company, as well as conversation.

* * * * * *

The Food/Drinks!

For drinks , aside from our water, we all chipped in to buy a bottle of Rosé wine, which Diego, Jessica and I actually really liked.

Shakerra (the birthday girl) and Genaro didn’t care for it too much so she ended up getting a sweet sort of wine that I didn’t get a chance to get the name of, BUT she enjoyed that one a lot more, and Genaro got a simple cranberry and vodka.

For our food, all of the steaks in the picture(s) below are going to look the same/similar, but I swear some of them ARE different!! haha

Going down the line of what we all got….:

Me: 8 oz Filet Mignon.
Diego: 16 oz Prime Ribeye.
Jessica: 16 oz Prime Ribeye.
Shakerra: 16 oz Prime Ribeye.
Genaro: 16 oz Prime Strip.

We all also got and shared 3 different sides. As you can see in the picture, the sides aren’t THAT big, but they were big enough that we all got to pick on and enjoy them altogether.

The sides we ended up getting were: Chateau Mashed Potatoes, Potatoes Au Gratin which had Scallions, Bacon & Aged Sharp Cheddar, and Lobster Macaroni & Cheese (which I personally have never had before, but actually really liked).

IMG_8558

As for dessert, Shakerra’s boyfriend actually surprised her with a cake at dinner that they brought out when it was time for us to have dessert so that we could all sing happy birthday to her.

It was super cute, and actually tasted REALLY good (I believe it was from 1800flower.com if you guys wanted to check that out).

To complete the review we also ended up getting desserts directly from the restaurant (which are shown below).

On the left is a Butter Cake which has Butter Pecan Ice Cream, Fresh Whipped Cream & Caramel sauce, and on the right is Chocolate Mousse which has Salted Caramel Chocolate Fudge & Miniature Chocolate Cookies.

Y’all know I’m a HUGE dessert person, so this was heaven to me. All of them tasted amazing and were very much worth EVERY calorie.

General Thoughts

Overall I can 100% say that we all enjoyed ourselves as well as the food here. Everything from the location, the ambiance of the restaurant, our server, and the actual FOOD obviously, was great.

The only minor thing we all didn’t care for was the fact that we had to wait for what felt like 45 minutes more or less for our food to come out, which obviously it’s a pretty big restaurant so we knew we would have to wait a bit, but we didn’t think it would be THAT long either. However, to the same extent, as I mentioned early on in the post, we were very much entertained talking, laughing, etc. so it did help a bit with the wait.

Other then that, everything was really good and we all do 100% recommend it to you guys to try at some point or another. Do keep in mind though as we said, that it is more on the pricey side, but definitely worth the price (we all thought).

As usual though, please try it for yourselves and come to your own conclusion(s) about this place.

* * * * * *

I hope you guys enjoyed this restaurant review/recommendation post. Let me know in the comments or on social media if there are any places in particular around New York that you guys think we should try, and we’ll definitely be sure to do that!

Also, let me know if you guys happen to end up trying this place at all, what YOU thought about it, or if you’ve already been there before, did you guys think it was worth it or not?

I’d love to hear from you all about it! 🙂

As always, thank you guys so much for reading; please like, share, follow and comment I’ll see you guys in my next post.

Vacation Fashion

Hi guys,

For today’s post I thought it would be fun to share with you guys my vacation outfit and bathing suit choices. I want to map out for you guys what I had on, where I got them from, etc. Especially since this (fashion/style) is definitely something that I want to try incorporating more of in my future blog posts, so here we go!

If you guys haven’t noticed through my Instagram posts, when it comes to my style, I’m super simple. Like don’t get me wrong, I love to be able to get dolled-up every so often, beat my face and throw together a cute outfit, but generally, my style is simple and always has been.

Simple and cute is how I would describe it, although I am trying to little by little step out of my comfort zone and expand on my fashion sense, but that’s a discussion for another post.

So without further adieu, let’s get started…..

* * * * * *

I was actually pretty pleasantly surprised because in the midst of preparing for our trip to Thailand, with the exception of a few bathing suits and rompers/jumpers, I really didn’t buy as much stuff as I thought I was going to.

You know, the excitement of going on vacation so wanting to go a little crazy whenever you go shopping? Yeah, that didn’t happen too much. But I guess that was actually pretty okay, for my wallet’s sake anyway haha.

Clothes:

IMG_5882

The airport outfit: Regardless of how near or far the distance is, I think that an airport outfit should always be something that you’ll feel comfortable in; which is why I think this outfit is cute, simple and super comfortable especially for that 22-hour flight we had.

Top: FashionNova

Leggings: Garage

Sneakers: Adidas NMDs

IMG_6025

Sightseeing outfit:

Sunglasses: Quay Australia from the Jaclyn Hill collection.

Tank top: Garage although I bought this in-store a few years back when I worked there, you might get lucky and either find it on the site or find something better! They have a ton of cute stuff here.

Shorts: They’re actually from Charlotte Russe, and a pair that I, again, bought a few years back. BUT, being that they shut down for the time being and no longer have a website running, they may be a little hard to find, although you could probably go ANYWHERE and find similar ones.

3.

IMG_6871

The ‘Playing with Tigers’ outfit:

This entire outfit was from Garage, here’s a link for the shorts and here’s a link for the tees and tank tops section since I can’t seem to find the exact top on the site, although on the top itself it says “Every Summer Has A Story.”

4.

IMG_7147

Baby’s Birthday Dinner Outfit:

Dress: I actually bought this dress on the Pretty Little Thing website, but unfortunately, when I went to check it out, all of the sizes were sold-out. They do, however, a few alternatives that you could check out if you were interested in it at all though.

Sandals: Forever 21

* * * * * *

I’m actually a bit disappointed because there were 2 other outfits plus some accessories that I had worn out there which were SO cute and fitting for the general Thailand/vacation vibe of it all, but I never got any pictures in them….ugh!! Don’t you hate when that happens?! 🙄

IMG_7629

This romper was one of them which I actually wore on one of our first days in Thailand when we were kind of just walking around, taking in our surroundings and then ended up at the beach afterwards. Super cute, loose, stretchy and comfortable which were all necessary things especially for that blazing 90+ degree weather in Thailand. If interested, you can click here to check it out and purchase it. It’s actually sold-out in all of the sizes on the site right now, but FashionNova is usually pretty good with restocking their stuff, so you can add your email address and get notified when it’s back in stock!

IMG_7633

This jumpsuit was another one. Very chic, island vibes sort of outfit. It’s more on the dressy side, I think, so I actually saved this to wear it out with Diego for one of our more done-up, fancier dinner dates. Click here to be able to check it out. This one unfortunately too is sold-out in all of the sizes, but make sure to put your emails down so you can know as soon as it comes back!!

* * * * * *

Bathing Suits, Cover-Ups & Accessories:

Both the top and bottoms of this bikini are from Missguided. On this site (as are on most sites these days), you have to buy the top and bottoms separate, so here is the link for the bottoms. As for the top, I can’t seem to find that specific color on the website anywhere, so it must’ve sold out because I remember buying it on sale, but they do have the exact same top in other colors. Click here to check it out in a nice charcoal gray color.

Oh and the sunglasses are actually Diego’s that I borrowed and they’re Ray-Bans.

2.

IMG_7129

This one piece is also actually from Missguided although, again, it must be sold-out because I can’t seem to find this suit anywhere on the site either. I looked back in my emails and found that the name of the suit is ‘Brown Textured Ring High Leg Swimsuit,’ for anyone that may want to do some more investigating to see if they find it anywhere.

3.

For this one piece, I actually bought it a while back from Barneys, but when I went to check the site to get the link for you guys, it doesn’t seem to be available anymore either (WTF PEOPLE!?!). So, I checked around and although a lot of places either say it’s sold-out or don’t have many sizes left, I did manage to find it on this site called Bikini.com . I’ve never actually heard of that site but it is more or less the same price that I paid for the suit and they do seem to have all sizes available for it, so check it out!!

4.

Crochet Swim Cover-Up Dress

I wore this cover-up a few times while I was out there to the pools, but predominantly when we went on our Phi Phi Island excursion. Even though it has like holes going all around it and it’s pretty airy, the material itself was a bit heavy. It didn’t bother me too much, but just keep that in mind if that’s not really the kind of thing you’re in to. I got it at Forever 21 for $29.90, and it was super cute plus it comes in another color, so I think it was worth it.

5.

Contrast-Trim Straw Boater Hat

Although, personally, I think Forever 21 is super hit or miss when it comes to their clothes, bathing suits, etc., I think that when it comes to their ACCESSORIES you’re almost always guaranteed to find SOMETHING. Their accessories can be so cute and chic depending on where you actually go to find them. But, that being said, I got this hat from Forever 21 as well.

6.

SAMANTHA SUNGLASSES C fullsize

And then finally, there’s these sunglasses.

I literally wore these for the first time EVER on our first day there while at the beach, and the waves were SO freakin’ strong while we were in the water that at one point a huge wave came, not only knocking me out and making me fall on my ass in the water (yep picture that), but also completely smacking the sunglasses off of my face which caused me to lose them 😦 ….

Yes, I lost these Tom Ford sunglasses in the ocean while in Thailand and it was absolutely tragic when it happened…ugh 🥺. Hopefully I’ll be able to replace them eventually, but that’s the link for where to find them if you’re interested.

* * * * * *

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments below or through social media if you happen to have any questions about any of the products I mentioned.

Please like, share, follow and comment and I’ll see you guys in my next one!
