My Favorite TV Shows

Hellooooooo everybody! ๐Ÿ™‚

For today’s post I thought it would be fun to share with you guys some of my all-time favorite TV shows, especially since a couple of months ago, I did something similar but with my favorite movies (which I’ll leave linkedย hereย if you guys wanted to check it out).

Nowadays, due to the lack of free-time I end up having, I almost never get to REALLY watch and/or keep up with most TV shows, unless it’s late at night for like half hour before I go to bed.

HOWEVER, the few times I DO somehow manage to have some free-time and be able to watch TV, chances are, I’m watching one of the shows that I’m about to mention.

As always, they are not going to be in any particular order (except for the very first one I’m going to mention, and you’ll see why ๐Ÿ˜), but I’m also going to try and give you guys a brief little description as to WHY they’re my favorite shows.

* * * * * *

So, without further adieu……here they are:

  1. Friends

Friends-together-withtitle-friends

Don’t be surprised by this one…..AT ALL. If you know me, you know that Friends is literally my ALL TIME FAVORITE SHOW!!!!!!! Nothing can beat it (I’m aware of how bold a statement that is, but it’s the truth…….don’t argue with me).

This is a show that I can literally watch every single day, several times a day, over and over again throughout the series, never get bored of it, and still always find the same jokes, phrases, etc. as funny as I did the very first time I ever watched it…which is actually interesting considering HOW quickly I tend to get bored with things usually, but whatever I’m not questioning it.

If by some miracle, you’ve never seen and/or ever heard of Friends, either go on Netflix right now and watch it from beginning to end, OR tune in to Nick @ Nite at 11pm until about 1:30am to watch a few episodes a night!!

2. Vampire Diaries

vampire-diaries-cast-750x522-1462481638

I was BEYOND obsessed with this show when it first came out. It was during the whole Twilight-Vampire obsession phase that I had, so OF COURSE I was interested in it. I mean c’mon, sexy main vampire characters, love triangles, and teen drama…who doesn’t love that?! And I was actually pretty good with keeping up with it for a long time, until like the last season or 2 when I had heard *SPOILER*ย that they had killed Elena off the show….then I was just pissed and said screw this because seriously, HOW DO YOU KILL THE MAIN CHARACTER OFF HER SHOW?!! I was so upset…

But recently (a few months ago or so) I decided to not only re-watch the show, but also actually watch until the end, and oh my god…my poor heart. I won’t say what happens because if you haven’t seen it, you definitely should, but wow what an emotional roller-coaster.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of how they ended the show, but overall, I really loved it and would still re-watch it if I ever had some time (which I’ve been thinking about doing again recently).

3. Total Divas/Total Bellas

I honestly forgot how exactly I got into this show, but I think it was just mainly because it was the Divas from wrestling. When I was younger, my brother and I were REALLY into wrestling, we would consistently watch it every Mondays and Thursdays whenever it would come on TV. And so when I saw and/or heard that they were coming out with a reality show for the Divas (Total Divas) from wrestling, even though I really didn’t know or ever hear of any of the ones that were on the show, I was immediately interested.

Oh, and John Cena would make occasional appearances, so there was also that, which was just an added bonus.

I think it’s a pretty good reality show, if you’re into wrestling at all (or were) and know any of the girls on the show. They also have a spin-off now called Total Bellas for the Bella twins (who were my personal favorite on Total Divas ANYWAY), so whenever I can, I really like to watch and/or catch up on what’s going on with theses shows.

4. Jersey Shore

91uVQlCdViL._RI_

I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory….lol. I mean c’mon, Jersey Shore is and I feel like always WILL be a classic. I don’t watch this show all the time, but I go through random phases every couple of months where I just feel the urge to want to watch certain episodes, and so I do, and it ends up being me re-watching the ENTIRE series.

I haven’t been able to watch and/or really keep up at all with Jersey Shore: Family Vacation as much, and I don’t think they’re actually on any of the streaming services like Netflix or Hulu, but if it was, I would definitely watch it.

5. Law & Order (SVU)

Law-Order-SVU-pinterestcom

Who doesn’t love a good crime show? Personally, I love the older seasons and episodes when Olivia and Elliot were still partners, but I’ll watch this show regardless. You get so hooked from just watching a few episodes alone, it’s hard not to want to keep watching.

I’m not actually sure if they stream that show on Netflix, Hulu, or any other streaming sites, but you can definitely always find it playing on TV at some point throughout the day.

6. Sex & The City

25

This is another show that is and will ALWAYS be a classic. If I remember correctly, I think I actually got into this show when I was in my first year of college. My roommate Abby and I would literally stay in our dorm room for hours before and after classes with food, snacks, etc. just binge watching this show ALL the time. It’s SO good.

I don’t know how I waited so long to finally see the movie, but about a year ago, I saw the first movie, and of course LOVED it. Now, I just need to see the second one even though I’m sure I’ll end up loving it as well! ๐Ÿ˜€

7. Hell’s Kitchen

HellsKitchen1-900x675

If you’re in to cooking and/or watching cooking shows and have never seen this one before, I HIGHLY recommend that you do. Gordon Ramsay is an AMAZINGLY blunt British badass, who is also an amazing chef.

Hell’s Kitchen is probably my favorite show of his to watch. It can be super intense, just because it’s a competition between a bunch of different chefs from all over the US over who ends up being the head chef at his newest restaurant and some people pass out from the pressure or have Gordon scream and curse his ass off at the competitors when they screw any/all of the dishes in the dinner services up.

I believe they stream multiple shows of his on Hulu and/or Netflix if you guys wanted to check it out.

8. Chopped

screen_shot_2014-04-07_at_11.48.53_am

Another great cooking show that I always love and find interesting to watch. I only recently somehow stumbled upon this show, but I’m glad that I did, because it’s SO great.

Similar to Hell’s Kitchen, it’s a cooking competition show, but for this show specifically there’s three rounds (appetizers, entrees and dessert). For each course the competitors are given only a handful of certain ingredients, and with that, they’re expected to come up with a dish for each course that’s going to blow the judges away. Not to mention they only have a certain, short amount of time to be able to make the dishes per round. Most of the time the winner ends up getting a prize of $10,000.

This too gets streamed on Hulu, or if you don’t have Hulu, they also give it all the time on the actual Cooking Channel.

9. Power

2560x1440

Self-explanatory, again. This show is probably the BEST crime drama series/show out right now.

I’ll wait for someone to try and argue with me about it……….

Nothing, right? Okay then, let’s continue…

This show is AMAZING and will 100% ALWAYS keep you not only on your toes, but also always wanting more. The romance, the action, it’s all so good; and if you haven’t seen it before, I definitely recommend you do before the new season comes out this summer!

The only thing I really don’t like and/or care for is the fact that it always feels like FOREVERRRRRR before the newest season comes out, although that could just be from how excited and impatient I am, but yeah….COME OUT WITH SEASONS QUICKER POWER PRODUCERS!!๐Ÿ˜ค

10. Baking Championships (Holiday, Halloween, Spring, etc.)

bf86a625929ab56ae22c2cb66be818b6ed3860d8acdc1e0dda381a640c9c

So similar to cooking shows, I’m also REALLY into watching almost anything related to baking (yes, I LOVE to bake, although I don’t get to do it nearly as much as I’d like). However, out of most of the shows for baking they tend to run on the cooking channel, these Baking Championships tend to be my favorites.

They have some with kids, some with adults, and they’re all for different occasions (as shown in the picture). Out of all of them though, I would have to say that my absolute 2 favorites are the ones for Halloween and Christmas; they’re so festive and cute and SO interesting to watch the kind of stuff the contestants come up with.

11. Bones

market

Another great crime show. This is actually a show that my dad introduced me to years ago (how crazy is that to say?!). We used to watch it as a family ALL the time, every Wednesdays from 8-9pm, it was great.

This show is similar to Law & Order, except it’s much more lighthearted, meaning, there’s a lot more jokes, sarcasm, romance, etc. being thrown around ON TOP of the actual crime stuff that they show.

Fun Fact: This show was actually one of the main reasons that I entertained the idea of studying and becoming a forensic anthropologist back in high school (until my guidance counselor at the time shot and killed my dreams one day ๐Ÿ™ƒ). I wanted to be just like Dr. Temperance Brennan!! haha.

12. Teen Mom

Another great drama-filled reality show. I’ve been “following” these ladies (a.k.a. just watching the show with them on it), since they were all originally on 16 & Pregnant. SO crazy how fast time flies considering all of their “babies” are pretty much grown-up now. But, I only really watch the show because of particular girls on it like all of the girls from Teen Mom 2 and only Macie and Catelynn from Teen Mom OG. I kind of find the other 2 annoying, but what do I know? Lol.

Anyway, similar to Jersey Shore and Total Divas/Bellas it’s a reality show, so there’s going to be a ton of drama, ups, downs, relationships, etc. It’s funny and interesting to somewhat keep up with peoples’ lives the way you do when you watch reality shows like this, but what can I say? I’m a sucker for a good reality show.

* * * * * *

So those were all of the shows that I tend to watch whenever I get a little bit of free-time, but I also wanted to share with you guys some shows that I actually want to START watching, but haven’t found the time to do yet, in hopes that maybe you guys can give me some feedback on them like whether or not they’re actually worth the watch. So, here they go:

  1. You

becd48b3-17b1-4320-8cfb-62ff24d609a0-you1

Never watched Gossip Girl, but heard it was extremely similar to that show, so I guess if I watch this show then I kind of have to watch the other? I know they don’t go hand-in-hand, but still. Worth the watch or over-hyped?

2. Riverdale

riverdale

Okay, so I have NO idea why, but for a long time now, I’ve had the strong urge to start watching this show. Never saw it before, never saw any trailers for it, etc., but something’s always told me to watch it for some reason, because I have a feeling I’ll REALLY like it, but I don’t know…about 2-3 months ago when I had some time on my hands and wasn’t working 2 jobs, I watched like the first 2 episodes, and wasn’t really into it.

Worth the watch or over-hyped? Does it take a little while to really get into it?

Also, fun fact: my brother and I were HUGE fans of the original Archie comics when we were kids! ๐Ÿ™‚

3. Orange Is The New Black (Torn about this one?)

OITNB_S6_Header

I’m a little late to the party with this one, but I’ve always kind of heard mixed reviews on it. I also heard after like the 4th season, it kind of started going downhill and was nowhere near as good as it was when it first started, soooooo…….thoughts? Worth it or not so much?

4. Big Mouth

954332

And finally lol …… this show. So Chris (my brother), one day when he was home last November, had me watch the first like 5-10 minutes of this show with him, and man oh man did it not only take me off guard, but it also fucked me uppppppppppp. I was not expecting to hear the stuff that I did in the first couple of minutes. BUT, it’s actually really funny to think back on now, and I think I’d actually really like it, so what do you guys think? Yay or nay on giving this show a shot?

* * * * * *

I also thought it would be really fun to do similar posts about this for my favorite throwback TV shows from like early 2000s and late ’90s (animated and regular), and take a small trip down memory lane, because that’s always fun to do once in a while isn’t it? Let the nostalgia hit and linger for a bit….I know I always love that every once in a while.

Let me know what you guys think about that and if that would be something you’d be interested in seeing?! ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, let me know in the comments what you thought about some of my favorite TV shows to watch. Are any of the ones I mentioned your favorites too? Do you have completely different ones? Do you guys have any good show recommendations for me to start?! Let me knowwwww! ๐Ÿ˜€

I hope you guys enjoyed this post; as always, thank you so much for reading. Please like, share, follow and comment and I’ll see you guys in my next post!

Meeting My Favorite Author For The First Time!!

If you happen to follow me on social media (which if you don’t, you totally should…all my info for that is always left at the end of my posts), you would have seen that this past Tuesday, October 16th, was SUCH an exciting day for me.

I got to meet my favorite author and pretty much the person who is responsible for inspiring me to want to write as more than just a hobby.

The author I’m referring to is Nicholas Sparks, who I’m sure a lot of you are familiar with his work. He is the author who wrote best-sellers like The Notebook, A Walk To Remember, Dear John, The Last Song and SO many others…many of which were later turned into films.

Since it’s still so fresh, and I’m still really excited about it, I thought it would be fun (like most other things that I try to do) and share my entire experience of it with you guys!

* * * * * *

The Waiting Process

I had literally been planning for that day for about 2-3 months in advance since I first heard about the event happening.

It was a big deal, I was SO excited.

I had actually taken off from work to be able to go to it, because I didn’t want to risk missing anything from the event.

So, I made sure to wake up extra early (at about 5-6 am I believe), get ready as fast as I could (doing my hair, makeup in about half hour which I’m PRETTY sure is record breaking time) and rushing out the door. I managed to get to the 14th Street (Union Square) Barnes & Noble store by 8 o’clock. The doors didn’t open until 9 though, so I had (along with many others) to wait outside for an hour.

Personally, although it was REALLY cold that morning, it didn’t feel like all that long of a wait (thank god for social media and YouTube).

Once the doors opened at 9 you were directed to the main cashiers to be able to purchase the book and receive your wristband for the event. After getting both, you had the option of either coming back later when the event started at 12:30 OR just hanging out in the store until it was time.

IMG_0789

IMG_0800

I was still freezing from being outside AND starving, so once I got my book and wristband, I quickly made my way upstairs to the Starbucks to get my coffee and something to eat. After getting those, I thought I was being “smart” by running upstairs to get to the floor that the event was going to be at so that I could secure my good seat…I quickly realized once I got up there that a TON of other people had the same idea as me ๐Ÿ˜‚. It was all good though because I still managed to be pretty close up, in like the 3rd row.

By the time I actually got myself settled with my seat and other things, it was only about 10am, so I still had about 2 and a half hours to kill before the event started. Again, the waiting really wasn’t so bad for me honestly. In that time I was able to watch YouTube videos, read the synopsis of the book and author’s note, and even walked around the entire store and managed to come out with 4 extra books then what was originally intended. Needless to say I was very entertained lol.

While I was clearly having the best time EVER wandering around my favorite store and finding more and more books for me to buy by the second, before I knew it it was 12:30 and the event was about to start.

* * * * * *

The Event

56139014488__C17F619F-C3B3-4E4D-8BD4-47EC2A9532E1

The event itself was pretty cool and fun. The events coordinator for the store introduced Nicholas Sparks a little bit, then had him come up on stage to say a few words before the meet and greet/book signing actually started.

IMG_0824

When he finally came up, he spoke a little bit about his previous books and what led him to write this one specifically (the name of his book is Every Breathย if I didn’t already mention that). He spoke about a few key points in this specific book like the characters, their backgrounds, what inspired certain details in the book and a ton of other things that I don’t want to get TOO detailed about because I don’t want to spoil anything. He also took a few questions from the audience which I thought was really nice because a lot of people don’t do that.

I even got to ask and have him answer a question!

I’m one of those people that gets SO nervous about things like that and second guesses whether or not I actually want to and/or should, even if I really DO want to. Anxiety freakin’ sucks man. BUT, I literally had to tell myself to get over myself and just ask my question because how often am I ever going to get an opportunity like this again, ESPECIALLY with my favorite author?

So that’s what I did, I got up the courage to raise my hand to ask a question, and sure enough…he picked me! ๐Ÿ˜„ My question was, “What advice would you give to aspiring writers like myself who can only hope to be half as successful of an author that you are one day?”

He answered by saying “Speaking for myself, I love to read, so you of course have to read a lot. But you know what else I think helps me? TV and movies, and you know why? Because they’re stories. And if you’re talking about TV, every 8 minutes they kind of have to end on a cliff hanger when a commercial is coming because they have to keep you tuned in. Well that’s very handy in writing as well whenever you end another chapter, because you have to end in a way to make them, your readers, want to turn that next page. So there’s lessons to be learned from any form of good story. So you have to read, learn to value stories, and to see how stories tick and wind, and practice honing reasons why one book is better than another.”

I paraphrased a lot of what he said obviously, otherwise I could’ve gone on forever with his response, but that was pretty much the gist of it.

After he answered my question was when the meet and greets and book signing actually started.

* * * * * *

Meeting Nicholas Sparks Officially

As if simply asking him a question from afar wasn’t nerve-wrecking enough, I was about to finally meet him officially too!!

The whole process went relatively quick, I mean obviously right? There were over a hundred + people there waiting to meet him and get their book signed so of course he had to keep the line moving.

But regardless of the fact that they (his people?) were trying to keep the line moving smoothly and relatively quick, I thought it was really cool and interesting to see the interaction he had with each of his fans. He was really friendly and managed to go out of his way to speak to his fans individually as much as he could, and was even willing to sign as many copies of his book as you bought.

At one point I even saw that there was this girl who had brought every single book she had of his in hopes of getting them all signed by him, and he actually did it. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I just think little things like that says a lot about a person/celebrity (in a good way), because he could’ve easily said no since there were so many people waiting, but he still made the time to do it in between signing his recent book for others.

Anyway, once my time came up, I was SO nervous. I didn’t actually know what to say to him, I wanted to make sure the picture(s) came out nice and a million other things were going through my mind too.

Ultimately, I actually got a couple of good shots of our interaction (see some of them below) and as for what I said to him, although it came out all jumbled up and I’m sure he didn’t understand half of it, I told him that he was my absolute favorite author and one of the main reasons that I decided to take my writing more seriously and hopefully become a successful author one day like he is. He said thank you so much, encouraged me to always keep trying and writing, gave me my signed book and I was on my way.

* * * * * *

Overall, although it wasn’t the ‘longest encounter’ ever, generally, it was a really great,ย  and very much worth it experience.

I don’t typically tend to do things like go to events like this, ESPECIALLY by myself because of my anxiety, so that alone was a BIG deal for me. Being able to step out of my comfort-zone to meet my favorite author, get to ask him a REALLY important question (to me anyway), get my book signed by him AND get a few pictures with him…what better?! He was also really nice about it all which made it even better.

I can’t even tell you guys how inspired and motivated I felt leaving the event that day, like I had so many different ideas for the blog going through my mind, so many things I wanted to start working on with my writing, etc. It made me really excited for not only my future, but my WRITING in the future. I’ve got some really exciting things coming soon for you guys and I can’t wait for you to see them.

I really hope you guys enjoyed this post. Thanks so much for reading, please like, share and follow if you aren’t already, and I’ll see you guys in the next one! ๐Ÿ˜Š

My Top 10 Favorite Movies

Today’s post is going to be a short, random and fun post completely dedicated to my favorite movies (as you could tell from the title).

I know that I’m a huge movie lover, so I figure why not make an entire post about it?! Let’s also keep in mind that there are obviously other movies that I LOVE as well that are not listed, so I wouldn’t necessarily say that these are like my favorite movies of all time (although a few of them are), but when I was thinking about this post, these were the ones that came to mind right away!

These are in no particular order:

  1. Harry Potter (ALL OF THEM!! Is that technically cheating because it’s not one particular movie? I don’t think so…๐Ÿ™ƒ)

Harry-potter-films

2.ย The Twilight Saga (All of them! Again, totally probably cheating but whatevs ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ)

maxresdefault

3. Fast & Furious (all of them! Okay okay, this is the last franchise I love, I promise!)

ecc5c72d-ac14-460c-8518-917672ad6778

4. Mean Girls. I mean c’mon… this is just self explanatory… “You can’t sit with us!”, “She doesn’t even go here!”, “Nice wig Janice, what’s it made of?….Your mother’s chest hair!!!”, “On Wednesdays we wear pink,”….classic!!

655616-b

5. He’s Just Not That Into You.ย To be honest, I only came across this movie about a year or so ago, and I think I just randomly saw it on TV, started watching it and just ended up loving it for some reason. I could watch it all the time now and never get bored of it.

11168871_ori

6. Step Brothers.ย I mean…again, self-explanatory…. “He better not get in my face, or I’ll drop that mother f***er,” “I’m not gonna call him dad…even if there’s a fire!”, “Dad what are you doing it’s shark week!”, “Pow!”.

Another classic. Talk about never getting tired of watching a movie.. the more I watch this movie, the more I die of laughter each and every time.

1200x630bb

7. Monster-in-Law.ย Why do I love this movie? I could not tell you tbh. I just find it funny and interesting. Who doesn’t love a good Jennifer Lopez movie anyway, am i right?!

35757_aa

8. Deadpool.ย I gotta give credit to Diego on this one. If it wasn’t for him, I probably would’ve never went to watch this and ended up loving it so much. He’s into all the superhero movies and stuff, so I had really just went to see this for him, and ended up loving it. Plus I mean….Ryan Reynolds is just sexy as hell, so like… why wouldn’t I go see it? If you’re not into the superhero stuff, I would recommend just going to see this movie for him (even though he looks fugly for the majority of it).

Deadpool-Movie-Poster

9. Big Daddy.ย This is SUCH an old movie, but it is SO adorable (I mean how freakin’ cute is Dylan & Cole Sprouse when they were kids?!). So cute and funny, if you haven’t seen this movie, I highly recommend that you do.

51ronh7a0DL._SY450_

10. Any Nicholas Sparks Movie (The Notebook, The Last Song, A Walk To Remember, etc.). What can I say? I’m a hopeless romantic, and Nicholas Sparks literally never does wrong with his books/movies.

Nicholas_Sparks_Films

* * * * * *

Well guys that’s it for this post, these are my top 10 favorite movies (although about 4 of them are franchises then specific movies, but whatever you get the point!!). Also, clearly my favorite genre of movies consists primarily of comedies, romantic comedies, and action haha ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Let me know in the comments and/or through social media if these are any of your favs too, or if you just have completely different ones, and why!

See you guys in my next post ๐Ÿ™‚
