My Everyday Makeup Routine

Hey guys! For today’s post I thought it would be fun to share with you guys my everyday makeup routine.

This is actually the look that I did the other day when I went apple and pumpkin picking with Diego and our friends/family. It’s simple as heck but always still manages to make me feel pretty and “done-up.”

I’m going to be sharing with you guys the products I used and what I used to apply each of them. I also did my best to take certain pictures to show you guys the individual products on my face before taking pictures of the overall final product. Does that make sense? You’ll understand better as I actually move along lol.

Also, something to quickly mention before I start is that I’m obviously in no way, shape or form a makeup artist, nor am I trying to be. But, these are products that I’ve really been loving lately and are my typical go-to products whenever I want to do a nice, little calm beat and I just felt like sharing that with you guys, so that’s what I’m doing today 🙂 .

Lastly, I took all of these photos with my iPhone XS in my naturally lit room, so if the colors or lighting or any of that look off, that’s why!

* * * * * *

 So the first thing I do before anything is make sure that my face is nice and clean then put my moisturizer on. For my moisturizer, I more often than not reach for my Dermasil Dry Skin Treatment Original Lotion.

IMG_0285

Honestly, there’s no particular reason why I reach for this one as opposed to any other one, other than the fact that I just generally like this one a lot.  And even when I don’t wear makeup, this tends to be my everyday moisturizer in the mornings and at night.

* * * * * *

The next thing I do after moisturizing my face, is put on primer. Now the primer that I’ve been using recently is fairly new to me still, but overall I’ve found that I like it A LOT and has been my go-to lately. The primer I’m talking about (which also doubles over as my setting spray after everything) is the Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer and Setting Spray.

IMG_0288

At the moment I only have the ‘trial size’, but once this one is finished, I’ll probably end up getting the full-sized one. I originally got this as a trial size just to be able to test it out and now that I have for a while, I’ve realized that I really like it, which isn’t much of a surprise since I have the original Hangover Replenishing Face Primer and loved that one for a while too.

* * * * * *

This next step 2 steps kind of just always depends on how I’m feeling that day, because I’ll either do one or the other first, but regardless I do end up doing both and it always ends up working out. HOWEVER, for this look in particular and the day I did it, after priming my face, I went in with my foundation. The foundation I’ve really been reaching for lately is my Tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation, in the shade Medium Neutral.

IMG_0290

IMG_0535
Just foundation on my face, at the moment.

I bought this foundation a couple of months ago when it first came out pretty much because of the concealer. I figure that I loved the concealer so much, so why not try the foundation too? And sure enough, I loved this as well, and ever since I’ve been using it like crazy. It has very quickly become a favorite of mine. To apply my foundation, I use the E.L.F. Cosmetics Ultimate Blending Brush.

* * * * * *

After my foundation is on I went in to do my brows. The only brow product I really ever tend to use is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in the shade Ebony.

IMG_0297

IMG_0536
Only foundation and brows on. I do usually tend to go in with concealer to clean and sculpt them out a little more, but I was sort of in a rush and didn’t have a chance to do that this day.

I have yet to find another brow product that does it for me the way that this one does. And don’t get me wrong, I’m open to trying anything new, ESPECIALLY if I’m going to end up loving it, it’s just that at the moment, I haven’t found anything that I’ve liked more than the Brow Wiz.

As for brow gel, I always go in with the ABH Clear Brow Gel, because it’s my favorite at the moment, and similar to the Brow Wiz, I have yet to find one that I love just as much.

* * * * * *

After I finish my foundation and brows, I go in with my concealer. Now, even for my everyday makeup looks, I don’t typically tend to use one specific concealer. Every time I do it, I’ll use a different one and there have been quite a few that I’ve REALLY been liking lately, but for this look in particular, I went in with the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in the shade Medium-Light Warm.

IMG_0294

Like I said, there’s been quite a few different concealers that I’ve been really liking lately, but this one in particular tends to stand out THAT much more for some reason. It does a pretty good job at covering my dark circles, really doesn’t crease all that much (of course I have to set it a bit, but nonetheless), and blends pretty seamlessly with me. To blend out my concealer I actually use the Red Beauty Blender, which I won’t show because it was kind of dirty….lol.

* * * * * *

I don’t typically set my entire face with powder, because I don’t usually need to. I don’t find that I get creasing on my forehead or smile lines or even around my nose (thankfully, not trying to brag about that). I find that although I have combination skin, it tends to be more on the oily side then on the dry side these days.

However, to set my under eyes a little bit, I went in with a BRAND NEW powder that I recently bought and just from using it that one time, I think it’s already going to end up becoming a go-to. The powder I’m talking about is the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder.

IMG_0299

Let’s keep in mind that it was only the first time that I had used it, BUT it did SUCH a good job at setting my under eyes and not having them crease up on me. I typically tend to struggle at finding a good under eye powder that helps me avoid creasing, so the fact that this actually was great at that, made me REALLY excited.

This day I had finished my makeup at about noon, and by the time I got home from everything I was doing and checked out how my eyes were doing, it was about 8pm and only then did I start to see minor creasing. That’s 8 hours..not too shabby if you ask me.

* * * * * *

After setting my under eyes, I go in with my bronzer. Now similar to concealer, I’ve actually been really liking and going between using about 2-3 different ones lately, but for this look in particular I went in using my Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in the shade Bronzer.

IMG_0301

IMG_0538
Foundation, Brows, Concealer, Powder and Bronzer.

This is probably my FAVORITE drugstore bronzer of all time. I have yet to find one that tops this (which if you happen to have one you like and/or think is better, please free to share with me 🙂 ). It blends really easy, always looks pretty on the skin and smells AMAZING. I’m sure you guys have heard a zillion times that it’s like the ultimate smell of a tropical dream lol. SO good, and cheap at that too, so what could be better? I always use my Too Faced Mr. Right- The Perfect Powder Brush to blend this and any bronzer out really.

* * * * * *

*This is about the time when the pictures started going downhill and I stopped, because I was really rushing at this point lol.*

After my bronzer, I always apply my blush. I attempt to try new blushes every so often, but for the most part I almost always stick to this one in particular which is the Nars blush in Orgasm.

IMG_0303

I have literally always loved this blush since the very first time I saw and used it more or less a year ago. I just think it’s the prettiest, perfect pinky blush for my skin tone and gives me a nice little flush to the cheeks. It’s definitely my favorite, although I have a few others that I don’t mind switching it up for every so often, I do almost always grab for this one. I always apply my blush with the Real Techniques Blush Brush.

* * * * * *

After my blush, I always curl my lashes and go in with my mascara. My eyelash curler is nothing special which is why I didn’t feel the need to take a picture of it and show it to you guys. Although, if I remember correctly, it’s from Revlon.

IMG_0304

However, the mascara that I’ve been absolutely OBSESSED with recently is this Lancome Monsieur Big mascara. This mascara is probably the best mascara of all time (I’m aware at how bold of a statement that is, but it’s the truth!!). I naturally already have really long lashes, but this intensifies that SO much more in the best way possible, while also giving me really great volume. I literally cannot say enough good things about this product other than that it’s definitely a favorite.

* * * * * *

While I’m waiting for my mascara to dry is always when I take the opportunity to go in with whatever highlight it is I want to wear that day. For this look, I wanted something that would be subtle, but you would obviously still notice that it was there, so I went in with the Wet-n-Wild To Reflect Shimmer Palette in Boozy Brunch.

IMG_0306

Guys this highlight is SO pretty. It really gives such a beautifully subtle glow to the face. And personally, whenever I put it on, I can pretty much build it up as much as I want and it still doesn’t ever look too chunky on my skin or like it’s just sitting there you know? Definitely a great quality drugstore highlight. To apply my highlight I believe I used the Sigma F03 High Cheekbone Highlighting brush.

* * * * * *

And finally for my lip product. For this look originally I was really excited to try a new liquid lipstick that I had recently purchased, which was the Beauty Bakerie Matte Lip Whip in the shade Gingersnap…..HOWEVER…..although I didn’t take a picture of it on my lips, after I put it on (literally like a minute or two later), it looked really weird and like patchy.

IMG_0307

It was the weirdest thing and I have never really had that happen to me before with a lipstick. But it looked all broken up and transferred A LOT when I would purse my lips together like I would typically do after applying. I don’t know, all I had underneath was my usual lip balm that I literally ALWAYS wear under my lipsticks, so I doubt it was that. But it kind of (unfortunately) turned me off to it altogether. I have another shade from them that I’m going to test out before coming to a final conclusion about it, but yeah, so far I was really disappointed and it was a pretty bad first impression.

But, after I immediately removed THAT from my lips, I decided to go in with one of my FAVORITE liquid lipstick shades to wear around this time of year which is the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lolita.

* * * * * *

Well that’s it guys, that’s my everyday makeup look. See the final product below. Thanks so much for reading and I hope you guys enjoyed it.

What A Week…

Hi Guys.

Today’s post is about nothing in particular other than some general thoughts and feelings that I’ve been having.

Mentally, this week has been rough. I’ve been feeling so tired, lost and hopeless with everything in my life for some reason.

You ever have those days where you just start over-thinking and over-analyzing EVERY little thing in your life, to the point where it almost feels like you’ve got nothing going for yourself at the moment? Well, that’s been me all week.

For those of you that aren’t aware or are just new to my blog, I suffer from anxiety and depression, and have for a few years now (I’ll leave my post that I wrote all about it linked here in case you wanted to check it out). For me it’s always been an on and off thing. Meaning, it’ll hit me and stick around for a few hours or a day or so, but then I’ll do things to be able to make myself feel better and it’ll go away for a while. This week, however, has been completely different.

There’s something about it this week that I just haven’t been able to shake, and I’ve been going nuts trying to figure out why, but, I think I’ve finally figured it out…

* * * * * *

As the last couple days of me being 22 go by, I can’t help but reflect on the past year and everything going on in my life. Among other personal things, one question in particular has been nagging at me for days now: Is all of this really the best that I can do? Sure I’m young and still have so much time in my life to be able to improve and do more, but at this very point in my life, am I happy and content with everything at the moment?

And the answer, very simply put, is no I’m not.

I’ve always been one to be very open about my feelings with the things I go through and the things that I want. More specifically, my future. I’ve always felt that I’m meant to do something BIG; I’ve never been entirely sure what that ‘something’ is, but I’ve always said, and still stick by, that that feeling gets stronger with each day that passes. And so, when I get in these depressive states the way I have been this week, it’s SO frustrating for me. Frustrating because I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing. Frustrating because I haven’t figured out what that ‘something’ is yet.

I tend to go through periods of time where I get sick and tired of living the same daily routine over and over again; going to work, to the gym, home, etc. Yes, obviously I enjoy all of these things, and they are all things somewhat mandated in order for me to live a decent life, but it’s just so repetitive that it drives me nuts sometimes and makes me feel like I’m not doing anything REALLY ‘exciting’ or ‘worth it’ the way other people around me (that are more or less the same age) are.

I have to constantly remind myself that this, everything that I’m doing and going through right now, are just rough patches, and me  just “paying my dues” until it’s my time to shine (so to speak), and that everyone does things at their own time and pace.

I don’t necessarily think I’m in a rush to make any of these things happen or force it, whereas I just continue to wonder when exactly it’ll be “my time.”

I think my problem is that although I know what I want, I really don’t take enough risks to get these things. I let things get to me and discourage/bring me down too quickly. I work hard but maybe not hard enough. And I HATE change. It freaks me out and gives me SUCH anxiety because I’m so used to certain things and routines, that when I see things start to change, I sort of shut down…

I also just need to remember that God has a plan for me. He knows what He’s doing, and everything will happen in due time when He knows it’s the right time.

* * * * * *

That being said, I turn 23 next Friday, and my goal from now until than is really to make a plan for myself and my life that I fully intend to keep. Plan out all of my goals, make a list of things I want to do/accomplish, and make them all happen one by one.

This year, being 22, and 2018 in general, has been really hard thus far for me. I’ve been through so much. I realized and learned a lot about myself and the people around me. I realized that I need to give myself more credit for the things I’ve accomplished in my life thus far, but I also know that I’m nowhere near where I want or am going to be in the future. I am officially choosing to be happy, and let go of any and all things that I have no control over, and not let things get to me as much anymore. Granted, I know that’s a bold statement and going to take a while for me to actually follow through with, but I’m officially speaking it into existence!!

My goal for this upcoming year (and the years to come) is to really welcome/accept change and take more risks. Just go for it and not think twice about doing things and making mistakes along the way, because if it’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that sometimes you really need to just say ‘fuck it’, and do what makes YOU happy no matter what the people around you say or think.

Mental health is SO important, and not enough people are talking about and/or taking it seriously. If you’re not good mentally, how can you be good in any other way? I almost feel like it’s impossible. I absolutely hate feeling the way that I do most times, and I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy because there’s no worse feeling then feeling like you’re not worth it. I feel like this is the majority of what I talk about on here at some point or another in my posts now, but do things that make you happy. Be selfish sometimes, even if it means you have to do the things that make you happy alone, because I’ve realized that you get to be your truest, and best version of YOU when you’re happy and in the right state of mind (mentally).

Wow this was a therapy session all in itself.. 😂

Thank you for taking the time to actually read my stuff, and I hope you guys have a great weekend. I’ll see you next week for a new post!

Current Upper Body Workout Routine!

Hi guys!!! 🙂 Happy Tuesday wherever you are in the world!

Today’s post is going to be a continuation to my current workout routine. If you remember, back in April I did a post solely dedicated to my leg day workout routine (which I will leave linked here in case you guys wanted to check it out), so now this will be completely dedicated to my upper body routine. I will be going into detail about the different workouts I do for upper body, how many sets I tend to do, the weights I use, etc. and using demonstrative images for how (for the most part) the movements for each workout should be looking.

But before I get started, I just want to remind you guys that I am in no way, shape or form a trainer and/or fitness expert, nor am I trying to be. I googled a lot of the technical terms mentioned just to be able to make sure that I named everything correctly but also put in parentheses (a lot of the time) the basic terms for what I was saying. This post is simply meant to show/explain to you guys the workout routines that we (Diego and I) have been sticking to recently.  If you have any questions for anything directly related to the workouts or our progress with doing these workouts, please feel free to leave a comment below with it OR reach out to me on any of my social media platforms and I’ll be more than happy to answer them 🙂 !

So let’s get into it already!

* * * * * * * *

For starters, we tend to divide our upper body routines between focusing on chest or shoulders (we’ll do one of each on each upper body day we have which is typically 2 throughout the week).

If you remember from my leg day routine, we like to start off all of our workouts with a compound movement that will pretty much work all of the areas that we’re trying to focus on for that day, while also working as a warm-up for us for the rest of the workout.

On the day that I’m posting this we’ll be focusing on chest mainly, so I’ll start with that.

  1. Bench Press

Bench pressing is a core fundamental exercise in developing a person’s upper body strength. It’s something that not only works your pectorals (chest), but also anterior deltoids (shoulders), triceps, and latissimus dorsi (your back). Like any other workout, I like to start off warming up on somewhat of a low weight, so I’ll normally just start off with the bar.

Barbell_Bench_Press

I typically tend to do about 3 warm-up sets (with a different, slightly heavier weight each time), and then 3-4 actual working sets (while being consistent with one particular weight at that point); so roughly 6-7 sets in total, although a lot of people don’t like to count warm up sets, I do. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The amount of weight that I add and/or maintain depends on whether it’s heavy week for us or not. So, since my leg day routine post I based it off when we were in heavy week, I’ll do this one when we’re just maintaining good weight for reps of 7-10. So my sets will look a little something like this:

1 set of 10 on just the bar. 1 set of 8 on just the bar again. Then I’ll add weight to the bar with 10lbs on each side (65lbs total) for 7-8 reps. I could do more reps on this weight because it is really light, but the purpose is to do enough to meet the set ‘requirement,’ but also to not completely tire myself out on my warm up before my actual working set. My next set will most likely begin my working sets which, as of right now, would be 20lbs on each side (90lbs in total). Recently I’ve been able to do 4 sets with this weight and (almost) easily hit 8-9 reps, but it KILLS afterwards lol (in the best way possible).

2. Shoulder Press

The next compound movement we do when we’re focusing on shoulders, would be barbell shoulder press. This is a great workout to do to stabilize your core. Although the majority of your power from doing this is coming from your deltoids, you’d also be working your rear deltoids, upper pectoral muscles, triceps and traps (upper back).

Standing_Barbell_Shoulder_Press

I typically tend to do more or less the same amount of sets for this as I would do if I was benching. Weight-wise though, this is a little more difficult and I haven’t been able to go TOO heavy (yet 😉 ). So as always I’ll start off with the bar to be able to warm up for a set or two, so it’ll be like: 1 set of 10 on just the bar, then another set of maybe 8-9 on the bar again. To bump up weight, I’ll just add 5lbs on both sides to start off (55lbs in total) for about 7-8 reps. And then finally for my working set I’ll put 10lbs on both sides (65lbs in total), for about 7 or 8 reps, or just as many as I could push for honestly. It’s a tough workout to master, but it’s honestly become one of my favorites for working shoulders.

3. Bend Over Rows

This is another one of those great compound movement workouts, because it pretty much works every muscle in your back, rear delts, and even biceps. And if you’re doing the workout right, you’ll feel the burn from this almost immediately.

bend over barbell-rows

I believe the heaviest I’ve done with this is actually 95lbs in total, and I can do a consistent 7-8 reps with it. So I’ll pretty much start off with 10lbs on each side (65lbs total) for 10 reps, then jump straight to 95lbs and be consistent with that for my next 2 sets. 95lbs is still pretty heavy to me with this movement, so I’ll ultimately just try to push for as many reps as I can get done.

4. Lateral Pulldown

This is DEFINITELY a favorite of mine for working out my back. This one is good because it not only works your back, but also your biceps and forearms in the process. Personally, I love doing workouts where I’m targeting several different muscles at once.

content_wide-grip_lat_pulldown_bar

For the most part, everything after our main compound exercise, I’ll stick to doing only 3 sets of. My first set I’ll start off on 35lbs for about 10 reps, just to start feeling the movement. Then for my next 2 sets I’ll either maintain one particular weight, just doing a different amount of reps (or as many as I can, again), or I’ll do 2 different weights while also hitting the amount of reps necessary to complete the set. Recently, I’ve been sticking to the same weight just to be able to get used to that one weight, so that once heavy week rolls around, I’ll be able to be and feel stronger to go higher in weight. So for my next 2 sets I’ll bump up the weight to 42.5lbs for 7-8 reps more or less.

5. Barbell Curls

For the next 3 workouts, we move to the free weights section, starting off with some good old fashion curls. This exercise is what’s known as an isolation type of exercise which means it’s an exercise that “involves only one joint and a limited number of muscle groups.” You’re primarily working your biceps here.

Barbell_Curl

I do three sets of these, pretty much maintaining the same weight throughout all of the sets, just mainly focusing on doing as many reps as possible. So I’ll pretty much do a set of 10, a set of 9 and a set of 8 on 35lbs.

6. Tricep Extensions

These are legit one of my FAVORITE arm workouts to do. It’s similar to the barbell curls in that I maintain a certain weight (which in this case would either be 22.5lbs or 25lbs depending on how I feel and whichever weight is available when I need it lol), while doing as many reps as I can.

tricep-extension

I’m pretty good with this workout in particular, so I can normally push myself to do 3 sets of 10 or even 12 reps for them all, but I’m weird so every set I do needs to be a different number of reps haha. 🙃 Also, personally, I tend to do this workout while I’m sitting down instead of standing up like in the photo. I’ve never really tried it standing up before, so I’m not really sure if you feel much of a difference in the movement, but I’m pretty sure it really just comes down to personal preference for how you do it.

7. Dumbbell Shoulder Press

Ultimately, this is the same thing as doing the shoulder press with the barbell like how I mentioned earlier, the only difference is that you’re using the free weights for it and doing each individual arm to make sure you’re developing the muscle/strength in both arms evenly (does that make sense? I hope so).

one-arm-dumbbell-push-press

I’ll do this workout for three sets, and just like the 2 previous workouts, I’ll maintain a certain weight which, in this case, would probably be 20lb dumbbell weights for 8-10 reps, or just as many as I’m able to push through.

8. Tricep Pulldown

Another absolute favorite of mine which is EXTREMELY similar to that of tricep extensions. Honestly, they’re pretty much the exact same thing (I think), and you’re working the exact same tricep muscle; the only difference is the way you’re doing the movement. One of them you’re raising the weight up, and the other you’re pulling it down. But the results are or should be (hopefully) the same thing, which is gaining muscle and strength in your triceps.

tricep-rope

I do three sets of these, for the most part all different weights. I’ll start off with 25lbs and do 10 reps of those. Then I’ll bump the weight up to 30lbs, and do 7-8 reps of that. Doing that second set and seeing how I feel after it will really determine whether or not I’ll bump the weight for that third set or just maintain and try to push to get the set done. Some days I can bump the weight up to 35lbs and be okay, and then there are those days where you just don’t really feel it, and just end up maintaining the weight you just did, you know?

9. Seated Low Rows (A.K.A. Lateral Rows to me and Diego lol)

This is a GREAT back workout. Definitely one of my favorites. You end up working your trapezius muscles, latissimus dorsi, the erector spinae, rear deltoids, biceps, biceps brachialis, and forearm flexors….. pretty much your entire back area to dumb it down a bit lol.

Image result for seated cable row

My three sets of this will usually start off with me doing 10 reps on 35lbs, which I’ll usually end up having to push through, but not in a bad way. It’s like a healthy push, not like I’m struggling to hit 10. For my next 2 sets I’ll usually bump the weight to 42.5lbs, and on this weight it’s a little more of a struggle, but I can usually push myself to hit 7-9 reps for both sets.

10. Kettlebell Pull-Ups

I’ve been saying this for like the majority of the workouts I’ve spoken about, but this is one of my top 5 favorites!!! 😂. The main things that are being worked with this work out would be your back muscles, posterior deltoids (your shoulders), and biceps.

5_kettlebellraises

This is a favorite simple workout, which I tend to stay very consistent with in the weight I use. Lately I’ve been doing 3 sets with the 26.4lbs kettle bell. On that weight, depending on how I feel since this would normally be one of the, if not the, last workout I do for upper body, I can do anywhere from 8-12 reps for all of my sets.

And finally, to end my workout as a whole, I’ll typically do some cardio. Just like I mentioned in my leg day routine, we typically try to hit cardio AT LEAST 3-4 times a week (if not more) after our workouts. I’ll do the treadmill, sometimes Diego will do it with me and other times he’ll just do the stair-master. Depending what time it is by the time we finally finish the entire workout, will determine how long we do cardio for. Now I’m able to do cardio anywhere from 30-45 minutes without any issues, which would typically allow me to burn anywhere from 300-450 calories, if not more, depending on how high the speed and incline is (which, I keep at 10.5 incline, and 2.8 speed).

* * * * * * * *

inspo

Well there you guys have it. That’s my entire workout routine that Diego and I have been following for quite some time now. There’s been a few new workouts that we’ve incorporated to both our routines lately, but being that they are all fairly new still, I didn’t think it was that necessary to speak about them yet since we’re both still getting used to them. But all of the ones that I mentioned are what we consistently ALWAYS do. Hope they were of some type of help to you guys.

Also, once I figure out how (or if I really want) to incorporate videos on my blog as well, I would love to do a more demonstrative sort of updated version of these routines, just to show you guys how I do the movements, how their supposed to look, etc.

Stay tuned to my upcoming posts, they’re gonna be some fun ones! 😀

*I do not own any of these images, they were all taken from Google.*
