How I’ve Been Coping With Anxiety

Hey guys,

Happy Wednesday! How’s everyone doing?! I hope you’re all doing great. I personally have been doing okay lately. I have good and bad days, but I’ve been trying to stay strong and push through, hoping for better days everyday.

In my last post I opened up and spoke to you guys about how I’ve been struggling with anxiety for almost 2 months now (if you haven’t seen it, I’ll leave it linked here for you to check out).

Because of this, for today’s post I wanted to talk to you guys about some of the things that have been helping me relax and cope with my anxiety recently.

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been doing a ton of research lately on all things anxiety so I can really learn about it and figure out how I can attempt to fix this. So, everything I’m going to mention are things that I’ve found online to be helpful or the suggestions that some of my friends have given to me to help.

Unfortunately, these things aren’t full-proof (for me anyway), and therefore, sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t, BUT more often than not, these things HAVE been working for me.

I’m going to list everything and explain when/how I use them, unless it’s self-explanatory and doesn’t need any sort of explanation lol. I’m also going to do my best to link everything directly to where you can find and buy them if you’re interested in trying any of these things.

So without further adieu…..

* * * * * *

  1. Calming/Relaxing Teas

IMG_9744

Specifically from the brand Yogi. I’m sure there are a ton of other brands that carry teas similar to this that may even be better and more beneficial, but for now, these are the ones I’ve been using. I got them all off Amazon. Thus far I’ve only tried and REALLY liked the Honey Lavender Stress Relief and Calming ones, and they do always seem to help.

I know some people tend to put honey and other things in their tea to help better the taste, but personally I just drink it as is.

Here is the Lavender Stress Relief tea.

Here is the Calming tea.

Here is the Relaxed Mind tea.

And finally, here is the Bedtime tea.

2. CBD Gummies

IMG_9789

When I first started going through this, I asked people on my Instagram to recommend me things that have helped them now or in the past with their own anxiety, and SO many people recommended this and marijuana. I personally have never smoked before and don’t really care to try it, so I figure I look into CBD gummies and see what they’re about. Sure enough I did, and this was one of the top brands that I came across in my research.

I typically tend to take this at about 8:30-9pm almost every night to calm me and my mind before bed. It takes about an hour to kick in which is why I take it so early, because then by 10-10:30 I’m relaxed and ready for bed. The recommended amount to take is 2 per time, but I’ve only been doing one and it still seems to help/work the same.

If you’re interested, I’ll leave them linked here …. I actually just saw on the website though that the specific ones I got (pictured above) are sold-out for the time being. But they have other options, so I would definitely recommend still looking into it.

3. Essential Oils

IMG_9787

Essential oils were actually something that my mom got me into. When all this first started for me and we were all confused about what was going on, my mom figured we try this to help and calm me down. Particularly the lavender scent which, after doing research on it, was a KEY scent to help calming anxiety apparently, so it was smart thinking on her part.

I would take the lavender oil and basically rub it all over my chest and back at night so that it can sink into the skin and help me relax. I would then take the one titled sleep and rub it on my temples, up and down my t-zone and on the sides of my nose, and it would actually help me sleep pretty great most nights.

The one titled immunity was actually a newer oil I got once I decided to purchase a diffuser, and it’s supposed to help protect against negative external influences.

Now I save the oils strictly for my diffuser and no longer put the oils all over me at night anymore because I use something else now which I’ll explain in a little bit.

I got all my oils and the diffuser from Target which is linked here if you guys want to try getting some.

4. Aromatherapy Sleep Body Lotion

IMG_9791

This lotion is something that I recently came across when I was on the Bath & Body Works website, although it is by no means a new product, just something I never had use for until I started feeling how I have been lately.

I bought this lotion, a few aromatherapy candles and an aromatherapy body wash, all scents similar to this that are supposed to help with stress relief, to sleep better, etc.

I literally use this lotion every single night. I put it all over my arms, neck and chest and even on my face a bit. This is the alternative that I use now to the oils that I used before. And this product in particular has been working wonders for me at night recently, so I would definitely check it out if you haven’t before.

I’ll leave it linked here so you can get it easily if you want to.

5. Meditation/Mindfulness

unnamed-2

Another big thing that people were recommending to me when I asked for suggestions was to try getting into meditation. It definitely wasn’t easy because you really have to learn how to sit still for a certain amount of time, focusing on your breath and trying to clear your mind, but after a few tries, it gets easier.

I’ve gotten a lot of recommendations for guided meditations on YouTube, which I’ve sort of tried, but those tend to be on the longer side, so if you’re not used to it it can feel like a lot. What I’ve been turning to a lot and taking advantage of for this is the Calm app. They have all sorts of soothing sounds, meditations (long and short), bedtime stories, etc. to try and I’ve really been liking it lately.

Unfortunately, for some things on this app you do have to pay and sort of have a membership for, but there are a few free things on there that you can check out. And, they allow you a 7-day trial to try it out then go from there if you want to buy the membership for the year. I would definitely recommend doing the trial and then going from there, because it’s been very helpful for me in the mornings, throughout the day and even at night.

6. Journaling

coffee-journaling

I have absolutely no idea why it took me so long to think to do this one, but it did…..it took me about a month of feeling how I had been before I thought to write everything I’ve been feeling down.

Diego and a few others really encouraged me to journal everything I was feeling, and sure enough, the more I started doing that, the more I began to feel better (at night anyway).

I primarily prefer to journal at night just because I can really think and write about the entire day as a whole, but there have been a few times where I end up randomly writing throughout the day as well.

7. Reading

1*0tmBPKA1YGo82VNeMS3KhA

Reading has been really great at easing my mind at night as well. There’s something about picking up a good book at the end of the day before bed….right now I’m reading a book about mindfulness (which kind of ties into meditating as well) and I’m learning a lot about both. The book gives all kinds of breathing and mindfulness exercises to help you be more present and in the moment from serious things like gatherings to the smallest things like when you’re brushing your teeth. It’s really great.

8. Therapy

Finally…..I haven’t really mentioned this to many people before, but I enrolled myself into therapy about 2 weeks after I started feeling how I was. Obviously it can’t be face to face therapy for the time being due to the pandemic, but I’ve been using this great app called Talkspace which matches you with a therapist for your specific needs.

I speak to my therapist at least once a day for the most part, and it’s been really good for me. I know a lot of people tend to be against therapy because it’s a stranger you’re talking to and that can be nerve-wracking to open up to someone like that, but I promise it helps; especially through this app because it’s really informal in an interesting way. You can send texts and voice notes and even schedule video calls with your therapist if that’s what you prefer.

I’ve been learning a lot, and really it’s like journaling, except you’re actually speaking to someone about everything you’re feeling instead of writing it down (although I love doing that too obviously) and they’re giving you their insight and ways to possibly help with everything you’re feeling.

* * * * * *

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and that it was helpful to you in some way, shape or form if you’ve been dealing with anxiety and looking for new ways to sort of help it and calm/relax your mind.

Let me know if you ended up trying any of these things and how they worked out for you. Also let me know if there’s anything outside of this list that you tend to use that works well for you, that you think I should try. I’m always open to new suggestions.

Thank you guys for reading. If you enjoyed this post, please make sure to drop a like and follow my blog if you haven’t already.

Christmas Decor Haul!

What’s goin’ on you guys?! 😀

For my second Blogmas post, I wanted to do and share with you guys a Christmas decor haul post! I did one for Fall/Halloween, so I figure why not do another for the holiday season?!

Similar to my Fall/Halloween haul post (which I’ll leave linked here if you guys wanted to check it out), for the most part everything I picked up is affordable and not at all crazy expensive. I shopped at stores like Dollar Tree, Target, CVS (again), and the Christmas Tree Shop!!

Some are things I’ve had from last year, and a lot of them are actually new additions that I’m really excited about sharing with you guys! 😀

I figure I’ll pretty much do it the same way I did the last one, in that I’ll break the items up based off the store(s) I bought them at.

So let’s get started! 🙂

* * * * * *

Dollar Tree

I feel like this store is SO underrated.  Literally every single thing you pick up here is $1. They don’t say their store is a dollar or a 99 cents store but then really everything is $2, $3, $4…no. EVERY SINGLE THING IS $1. AND especially for things/occasions like this, they actually have A LOT of cute and good quality stuff for it.

Dollar Tree is definitely a go-to for me when I’m shopping for decorations for a particular occasion. It’s actually probably one of the first stores I go check out before anywhere else. Scroll down to see the things I got from there.

IMG_1738
To be able to hang on my door.
IMG_1740
Candy cane streamer, which I hung over my bed.
IMG_1741
The next four are all Christmas signs that I hung throughout the walls in my room.

IMG_1748

IMG_1750

IMG_1767

IMG_1753
I hung these candy canes right above my bed frame.
IMG_1755
So I hung the candy canes at a distance from each other, and in between them, put these cute little signs.

* * * * * *

Target:

Target, as I’m sure relatively EVERYONE knows, has really great stuff when it comes to special occasions, holidays, etc. as well. BUT, it is or could be more on the pricier side of things.

These next 2 things I got were actually from Target, but thankfully, weren’t that bad at all price-wise.

IMG_1757
Santa Claus fairy lights!! If you saw (and/or remember) my Halloween/Fall decor post, I got similar lights, but with pumpkins on them and I strung them over my vanity.
IMG_1760
So I got these in a box last year from Target. They’re little wind up toys and came with a total of 6 of them. Originally, I got them for Diego’s nephews as little stocking stuffers, but I ended up having a ton extra, so I gave some to my family and kept these two for myself. And I just put them at the tops of my vanity for decoration.

Bath & Body Works

This one is pretty self- explanatory just because in general for the most part, this entire store is for buying candles, wall scents, etc. I buy my candles from here (as pictured below), HOWEVER, they don’t have a HUGE selection, but they do also have little decorative pieces here and there aside from candles and scents, which is where I got the below figurines.

IMG_2494
During the holidays, these are my three absolute favorite scented candles to get from Bath & Body Works. Ugh, they smell AMAZING. Light any one of these candles, put on some Christmas music, and I promise you you’ll be in the Christmas spirit instantly.

I had went to Bath & Body Works after Christmas last year (a few days later), when there were a TON of sales going on and saw these and thought they were SO cute for like $1, so I grabbed them both! 🙂

IMG_1761

* * * * * *

Christmas Tree Shops

And finally, I HAD to mention my absolute favorite store of all (for the Holiday season), which is called Christmas Tree Shops!!

You guys…obsessed is an understatement. The name is super deceiving, but this place is completely decked out from head to toe in Christmas Decor. They have everything from Christmas trees, to lights and decorations, food, snacks and candy, etc.

And the best part about them? THEY’RE NOT EXPENSIVE AT ALL. Now, I wouldn’t say the prices are as cheap as Dollar Tree, but regardless it’s still pretty inexpensive compared to most places.

I didn’t get ALL that much stuff here, but I cannot wait to go here to buy all of mine and Diego’s future holiday decorations for our own place. 😀 ❤

IMG_2420
Some little pictures/plaques that I hung up around my room.

IMG_2422

IMG_2452

IMG_2461
More little pictures/plaques for my room, but I actually keep these in particular on my TV stand along with the other little things which I’m going to mention in a second.
IMG_2424
This picture is a tiny bit misleading, just because the little tree on the left was actually part of the figurine decorations I got at bath & body works, and the snowglobe on the right, I actually got in CVS. BUT, the Christmas countdown in the middle was from the Christmas Tree Shops store lol. (Also, these 3 pieces are actually my favorites from everything that I have).
IMG_2465
And the last couple of things I have are actually these mini light-up snowglobe type things. They’re those ones that you see in all sorts of characters, occasions, etc. that also change color as they stay on. Super cute, and they were only $1 each. These are what I keep on my TV along with the plaques I mentioned before. See below for them changing colors.

* * * * * *

Well guys, that’s it. Those are all of the holiday decorations I have this year (for my room anyway). I hope you guys enjoyed this post and/or that I peaked your interest with some of the pieces I had.

Leave me a comment or write to me on social media about any holiday-related posts or posts in general that you guys would like to see in the future!

Please like, share, follow, and comment, and I’ll see you guys on Sunday for my Blogmas day 3 post! 🙂

Affordable Fall/Halloween Decor Haul

Hi Guysssssss!

Today’s post is going to be a fun one because, as you read from the title, it’s going to be completely dedicated to Fall and/or Halloween decorations! 😀 Not only that, but I made sure everything that I bought and am going to mention was all from affordable stores like CVS, Dollar Tree and TJ Maxx (actually, those are pretty much the only stores I got to go to lol).

I also wanted to be able to get a few things from Target and Michaels too (because I mean let’s be real, those stores always have amazing stuff for things like this), but I never got a chance to go to them :/ . Actually, by the time this post goes up, it’ll be Thursday, October 4th, and I’m actually going to be stopping by a mall that has those stores on Sunday. So if I end up buying anything from them, I’ll probably just post the extra items I got on my social media accounts, so be sure to follow me on them to see my new pick-ups (they’re always listed below)! 🙂

I always have SO much fun decorating my room and house around this time of year, and for the holidays. It’s like my thing haha. Some of the things I’m going to mention are stuff I’ve had since last year, but the majority of the items are actually new.

*By the way, please don’t mind the mess in the background of some of the pictures, we just moved back in to our house, and I still have A LOT of stuff to unpack and put away 😩*

Let’s get started!

* * * * * *

IMG_0267

The first thing I have is actually something that I got last year in Michael’s I believe, and they’re pretty much just these little fairy lights that have pumpkins attached to them. They are SO cute. Originally I wanted to be able to hang them over my bed, but it didn’t work out because of issues with the outlet near my bed and what not, so instead I just strung them across my vanity which is just as cute. It also has a few different features for how the lights go off which is cute too. I got this for $14.99.

The next few things I got were actually from CVS.

I thought this little ghost figurine was SO FREAKIN’ cute. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to get it. It was also the last one which was pretty lucky for me. I love that this also lights up, it changes between being lit up in green and red. Such a cute little accent that I’ll probably either put on my vanity or on my main bureau. I actually got this for $5.99.

IMG_0192

These two little pumpkins were also from CVS. I just thought they looked cute and were different. Plus, you can never go wrong with getting decorative pumpkins of some sort for Fall/Halloween decorations. I’m still trying to figure out whether I should keep them both in my room, or put them somewhere downstairs in my house as decoration. The Trick or Treat pumpkin was $4.99, and the smaller one was $2.99.

IMG_0201

I got this predominantly because I just LOVE snow globes, I have a mini collection of them, and figure why not add on to it with a halloween one now too?! I got this for $2.99.

There was also another one that I got from CVS, but I got it last year, and it’s much bigger than this one. It’s actually a Snoopy snow globe where he’s dressed like a witch, ugh I LOVE that one, but I have yet to find it for some reason. As soon as I do though, I’ll take a picture of it and show you guys on social media.

IMG_0204

These next few things I got all from Dollar Tree. They’re all pretty self-explanatory, and pretty much things that I can hang on the walls in my room. Every single one of those things are also a dollar too, in case you guys weren’t aware for whatever reason.

IMG_0210

IMG_0212

I have a few little fake candles that you can just snap the switch and they’ll turn on and look lit up, in front of my tv, so I’m thinking for October and November I’ll substitute those for these little ones. They’re pretty bright for how tiny they are and considering they are from Dollar Tree lol.

I got this door hanger because I also have one for Christmas which I thought was really cute, and may as well get one for Fall/Halloween too. They had a bunch of different colors and styles, but I figure I didn’t have anything else in my stuff that looked like it, so I got this one!

IMG_0226

I pretty much got this little container to just keep in my room or put on the main table downstairs and just keep some candy filled in it all the time until Halloween!

IMG_0230

* * * * * *

THESE next couple of items I got from TJ Maxx in Manhattan.

IMG_0245

These little hand/dish towels, I mean c’mon….look how freakin’ cute. There are 2 bathrooms in my house, so I’m thinking that I’ll probably put 2 in the kitchen hanging on the stove and then one in each bathroom for people to be able to use. I got them for $5.99 each.

IMG_0250

I’m a sock girl who LOVES cute little patterns and designs like this whenever I can find them, so of course I had to get a few pairs. Each pair was $1.99.

IMG_0260

And finally, I got this ADORABLE little mug. I mean…..hello pumpkin!! 😩😍 how cute is this?! It’s also just like the perfect little size to have a small cup of coffee or a hot chocolate, or even tea if you’re in to that kind of thing. It’s kind of “plain” in a sense, but I love it, it’s just simple. I got this for $4.99.

* * * * * *

Well guys that’s it. Those were all my recent little Fall/Halloween decoration pick-ups. I’m SURE I’ll end up getting a few more little things when I go to Target and Michaels on Sunday, but like I said earlier, when and if I do end up getting anything, I’ll show it to you guys on my social media so again, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Snapchat to see it! 🙂

I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing and shopping for it! Look out for my next post coming on Sunday, because it’s going to be another little fun one! 😊

-Xoxo, LeoGirl ❤
